[How has everyone in the Union been today? Hope everyone is doing well because you'll find one, Fuuka Yamagishi convered in nothing but dust and dirt today! There might be some coughing sounds coming from the distance but all she could do was nervously smile]

I apologize but I wanted to ask you a question. Is anyone familiar with rotomcycle tech? After my visit to the Gigas, I wanted to try and attempt to make a vehicle like what they had there.

Although, I'm afraid I might need some help. I'm not sure what I did wrong but if anyone knows, please let me know.

[And then there was a pause before looking the left over debris]

And I might need some help cleaning a few things as well!

[Action 1]

[Kyosuke Nanbu could be found browsing the commercial district, which fortunately managed to escape the brunt of the attack. What was he looking at? Jewelry, mostly. And growing increasingly haggard as the day progressed. By the end of it, he looks pretty much like a dead man walking.]

[Action 2]

[The following day, we find Kyosuke purposefully entering a local casino, an expression of steely resolve on his face. Those who follow will find him methodically cleaning up at the poker tables. They may also find that he will be there pretty much two days straight]

[Action 3]

[A few days later, we again see Kyosuke in the commercial district, this time spending quite a bit of money. He's buying jewelry, by the looks of it. Nice, expensive and all in Platinum. He's also carrying a giant bear that is probably about the size of his torso, all quite nonchalantly]

The thing about being on the road for a chunk of time like Ryuko's been, it means you miss out on a big chunk of local news. It gets even worse when your Warp Band communications drop out like hers had just the day before. At the time, she'd found it kind of annoying and weird but nothing worth getting bent out of shape about. Wasn't like she had anybody to talk to anyway.

At any rate, it meant that the sight of the damaged city and the bustling activity of workers was a bit of a surprise. But at least it meant that one new arrival to the city was going largely unnoticed as she wandered through town. True, the sight of a teenage girl carrying a large metal guitar case strapped to her back was a pretty uncommon one but there were more important things to worry about, right?

It's not until sometime later that she's come to a stop, leaning up against a wall and checking out of her new Warp Band that she plugs into the signal network, pulling up the video function.

"So, uh, I just got into town." She glances around and tosses something up and down in her free hand. A lemon. She catches it and lifts it to her mouth to take a bite out of it, skin and all, chews and swallows. "Kinda gettin' the feeling I missed something. What's the deal?"

[OOC: Intro post! Feel free to respond to her on video or run across her in person. She'll just be kinda out bumming around town for the time being.]

The battle is joined. The gods of Union, while mighty, seem to pale in comparison to the singular dragon of ice. Although they strive mightily to avoid damaging the city, already the mysterious blue dragon has been flung directly into a tower, earning itself a nasty gash over its eye, much to the dismay of the red dragon. While it has rejoined the fight, it is clear that the gods alone are not enough - the people of Union will have to step forward if they are to save their beloved city. The cries of the wounded and terrified citizens echo through the streets as the flames of battle rage. Now is the time - they must be stopped!

[Saber is sitting formally in the garden of the house she's...sort of renting and enjoying the brisk air. The professional affect she's going for as she opens the video feed is only slightly ruined by the Litleo tousling with a much larger Luxray behind her.]

Good morning, Union. I don't make much use of these devices, but as I had three questions - one practical, one philosophical, and one simple curiosity - I thought I would take the opportunity to address them generally. Please feel free to pass this video by if you have no interest in idle queries.

Firstly, I wanted to ask whether Union's Swords of the Savior organization is closed to only people from the city itself, or whether they'll accept applications from immigrants. I have been idle here for far too long, and want to give back in a way that makes use of my skills.

[She shifts for a moment as her newest tiny lion gets a little too noisy and reminds him that she's busy with a level stare. It's either very effective training or a very polite Litleo, since he quiets down almost immediately.]

Secondly...perhaps this is more of an observation, but how many humans or Pokémon out there know of Pokémon who chose their own names, or went by a name of sorts in the wild? I never considered myself to need a name until I knew I was going to be interacting with humans, and my understanding was that "nicknames" were a matter of human convenience - a Pokémon knows who she is without being told, at least in my limited personal experience. That said...

[She pauses for a moment, considering, eyes flicking briefly to the side.]

...I might be a little strange in that regard. None of the other Pokémon I've Bonded have asked for names, so to speak, but between their comments and Union's culture, I wonder if it would be appropriate to name my comrades.

[At this point, her Litleo's getting rowdy again. Fortunately, it's at about this time that a third of her Garchomp comes into the frame of the camera and gently plops on top of the kid for use as a hot water bottle.]

And my third question...I've obviously never been part of "Salvation" celebrations before, but I understand that gift-giving is part of the holiday. How...close does one need to be with a friend for a gift to be appropriate? I was a bit lost on Soulfasting, and would very much like not to offend anyone this time around.

[She clears her throat.]

Ah. I've been talking for quite a while. To those who listened, I thank you, and apologize for taking up so much of your time. Perhaps in the future I'll ask questions as they come to me, rather than saving them up for one speech. Again, thank you for your patience.

[ See Excellen. Or an Excellen-shaped form encased in a huge parka, hood, scarf, and covered by a blanket. She looks positively sullen, her teeth practically chattering as she sits in front of the camera, looking like a grumpy little blanket hobo. ]

I th-thought Glacier was bad! It never gets this cold in Caldera!

[ Using muscles to huff would keep her warm, right? ]

This is the winter of my discontent, and it's not even winter yet! How do you Unionites even function?! It's not even winter yet!

[Action]

[After returning from Glacier - and a brief trip to the Ice Rock to see if any Pokémon there knew what to make of the Mega Stone she received from the grateful locals there - Saber has returned to Union for at least a brief stop.]

[Unfortunately, two of her new Pokémon are finding the temperate city unseasonably warm - especially Snover. Castform has taken it upon himself to help the tiny conifer be comfortable by playing with her - by which, of course, they mean covering several blocks of Union in a magical mini-snowstorm and playing hide and seek.]

[Normally, you'd excpect such Pokémon to be easy to find, but between Castform's natural affinity for the environment and Snover's natural camouflage, Saber has been very carefully chasing the two down for an hour now, apologizing profusely for the walking hazard all the weather is causing and getting increasingly more frustrated at her inability to keep small children under control compared to, say, huge sand dragons.]

I apologize to anyone in the districts near the wall today. I made the mistake of un-attuning two of my younger Pokémon for a moment and they ran off to play in the snow. By making snow. Please, exercise caution when walking, and please let me know if you see a Castform or a Snover being disruptive...

The people of Union have descended into the besieged city, doing everything in their power to aid the citizens of Glacier yet remaining within. Whether struggling against the invaders seemingly loyal to the White Dragon, or seeking out the injured and lost in need of aid, they take advantage of several hours of relative calm to do all they can. And for a time, it seems to be working - the invaders are not so very strong after all, not against the experienced Unionites who have surpassed everything from human armies to memories of gods.

But perhaps the might of the two combined is an altogether different challenge.

GRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAH!

The sensation is felt throughout the whole of the city, the rumbling of the earth itself enough to take down the more unstable buildings in its wake. From any point, at any height, all eyes are drawn to the monstrosity that has descended in the blink of an eye into the still-burning town center. A great, white dragon... Exactly as described by those who had escaped from the city.

Those with sharp eyes will see that standing beside it, there seems to be a human figure.

Its sheer presence is overwhelming. The air around it ripples with an aura of heat, but felt even more keenly than that, there is a devastating sense of raw power and control. This being... this god could burn down the entire earth if it wished. A city of Glacier's relative size... What chance did it possibly have? That the world yet remains standing seems almost a mercy. Its size is immense, its bulk several times larger than that of a Wailord, its height almost seeming to rival the tallest towers of Union, though perhaps this is an exaggeration of the mind.

It takes a step forward, and the earth shudders once more in its wake.

All across the frozen city of Glacier, every individual carrying a Warp Band will suddenly feel the device activate of its own accord as a video feed begins to play. Attempting to turn it off fails, and changing it doesn't seem to work either. Something, or someone, has hijacked the feed and is using it for their own announcement.

A tall, severe looking man stares into the feed, his lone eye seeming to burn with an unnatural fire. And beside him, only its lower body visible, stands the feet of the White Dragon, its fur outlined in crisp detail from this distance. The man gazes steadily forward, eyes yet alight with passion.

"So, it seems that this place has found someone to come to its aid. No matter, our plans will not be disrupted by insects like you. Still, it's good to know that there are humans left that understand the value of kinship with our fellow inhabitants of this world. It brightens my day, you might say, to know that my men have been facing honorable opponents, and not weak cowards that still cling to the old ways.

A pity that when we're done here, we'll have to come for you next. I won't lie to you and say we'll show you mercy, but at least your deaths will be swift."

He smiles then, a thin and grave expression.

Every fiber of those remaining in the city screams to flee from this threat. There is nothing they can do - they must retreat. But though their minds may instinctively beg for such a course of action, to do so means to abandon its people to a fiery demise. Can they truly run from this?

They must choose quickly... and this time, it is not a choice concerning a rabid creature, an angered and wild animal lashing out. This cold and calculated destruction, sanctioned by a god itself, so reminiscent of what was said to have happened in the past. To oppose it, perhaps, means to steer the course of history into terrible new waters. Choose quickly, people of Union. What answer will you find?

((Reshiram is a Legendary, and thus, the normal rules will not apply. It will be able to strike through abilities that would seemingly protect people, and analysts will not be able to sense its weaknesses. It radiates an aura of power that will inspire fear and awe in those who see it. Please be warned that there is a definite chance of injury when attacking this creature; however, despite all this, it is possible to defeat it.

Have fun! And enjoy some mood music.))

The rescuers have been allowed a night's rest following their arrival on the outskirts of Glacier. Though there is ample evidence of their enemy's presence in the form of burning buildings and ruined settlements, the creature itself appears to have wandered off briefly to wreak havoc in a different corner of the frozen tundra. Or perhaps it was taking a brief siesta following so much exertion - murder and destruction was tiring work. Whatever the case, it seems to be an opportune time to descend into the city and assist those remaining there.

If they are brave, they might even try to take back the city itself. But the primary goal, of course, is to save as many people as possible before the great dragon returned.

The few people of Glacier who had guided them this far point out the less-traveled paths by which it may be possible to enter the city unnoticed. It is determined that they will fan out in groups, both in search of survivors and in search of the companions of the dragon who had so effectively laid waste to the city. Perhaps they might still gain the upper hand.

((You may respond to your threads now! Not all the groups will have immediate mod starters going up, so feel free to initiate threading; a mod will step in as soon as possible. As usual, we will be tagging on a 24-hour basis whether or not all group members have tagged in.

When responding, please list the Pokemon your character is bringing with them.

[It's a lengthy journey even by air, that our intrepid heroes find themselves on. The veteran fliers set a quick, but not grueling pace at the suggestion of the Valkyries. Arriving to a battleground when a god had taken the field tired was not wise, they'd said, and who could really blame them? The prospect alone of facing down one of the beasts of legend would be enough to send most men fleeing in the opposite direction, but one who was working with a human? That was all the more reason to make sure that proper care was taken on the trek. And so for a day the party traveled, a caravan of birds, dragons, reptiles and the odd flying robot making steady time across the Rolling Plains before setting down at the north-eastern edge.

The curious would find that not far from where the tents were pitched, the green hills turned jagged, the land going from verdant to a sea of dark glass. Obsidian shards spiked upwards, spires gleaming in the moonlight like razor sharp teeth, setting an ominous tone for the evening's respite. Tents were pitched, fires were lit, and the more warlike companions even began a drum circle and dance. Valkyries and shirtless Calderan volunteers, a small number of visiting mages, and other more mysterious folks all curious to see the god and to help with the relief efforts. The camp, despite the circumstances, was at least a lively one.

And then came the final day.

Over the Obsidian Flats they went, the massive shapes of Boldore and Tyranitar visible even from up in the sky. And...further perhaps even more stunningly, a gigantic lake almost large enough to call an inland sea, sprawled out below. Rivers snaked out of it all around, and the water itself was a pure crystal blue. But perhaps the most awe inspiring sight of the whole journey came once they cleared the Flats and the area around Glacier came into view. An expanse of white, thick snow covering the ground this early in the year. Arctic forests cropped up here and there, snowcapped trees and a frigid looking river marring the perfect canvas beneath. And more Pokemon , of course. Gigantic Avalugg shook the ground below, and a new species plodded along, chewing amiably on the trees, largely unconcerned by the humans overhead, and the occurrences in the distance.

Along the coast a city was in flames, people streaming out of its ruined gates, desperately fleeing along the rivers before whatever it was came back. Smoke curled up along the skyline, burned hamlets and outlying settlements that'd already been destroyed.

It seems like they weren't too late, and it in the moment of respite there was a chance for our heroes to at least get their bearings and prepare for the Dragon God's return...]

[OOC: We will be opening some of these areas for bonding within the next few days for everyone who is taking part in the expedition.]

World Fair

In the week of lead-up to the fair, the whole of Union had been ablaze with excited chatter, industrious preparations, and quite a fair number of new faces. People from all over the known world had begun to trickle in with the announcement, some representatives and workers from each invited civilization, some excited young trainers and travelers, hopeful prizewinners and showboaters, cooks, warriors, clothing designers, and of course a wide variety of Pokemon. You couldn’t look anywhere (even a trash can) without finding somebody new, and every single person was absolutely thrilled to be there.

The World’s Fair, hopefully the first of many, sprawled out across the Entertainment District. Large swathes of the area had been cordoned off for the event, stalls and tables, booths and small shelters set out and erected over the course of the week. Local workers and travelers dug in, working in shifts to get everything together on time. Voices sang out around the grounds, work chants accompanied by the beat of hammers and nails, with every soul pouring their hearts into their tasks. A busy time, certainly, and one fueled by a desire for harmony, profit, and to start off the idea with a bang.

There were, of course, a few noticeable exceptions. The open invitation to Gigas that the Council had so warmly extended had been accepted in due time. Those who numbered themselves amongst that great city were distinguishable by their less than friendly countenances and penchant for taking notes, no doubt analyzing the city of their enemies. One likely familiar face made her appearance partway through the week, disappearing quickly into a tent and remaining indoors for the rest of the preparations.

Come opening day, people had already begun lining up at the entrance, awaiting admission. The queue stretched for blocks and blocks, a serpentine loop of people and Pokemon all eager for a chance to see what this fair was all about. Like everything else surrounding the event, there was a certain buzz to it. Chatter filled the line, questions and queries hanging on everyone’s lips. Did you see that robot? What’s that smell? Did you see that Maxime de la Puffette was planning on unveiling her fall lineup here? Oh! Oh! And there are three idol groups! Risette may even make a performance! and there was another rumor that buzzed through the line as well. Gigas accepted the invitation. And so did some of those people from the Archipelago…

Once inside the grounds proper, a dizzying array of sights, sounds and smells assailed every visitor’s senses. Music blared, machines clinked and clanked, food sizzled on grills, exotic spices wafted down the paths, unusual Pokemon let out cries of surprise and delight, and people ooh and ahhhed. Technological wonders stood out on stages, concerts presented a variety of music in every style imaginable, there were whole areas set aside for nothing but eating and fashion, while martial artists, Pokemon and brawlers duked it out in the various arenas. And above it all, airborne Pokemon soared and wheeled, banking and turning as their riders and egos clashed in a competition of acrobatics and skill. All of this could really only mean one thing, and even if by chance you were a Crustle living under a literal rock, you couldn’t miss it.

An event like nothing held since the Cataclysm, and something wholly unique had begun today, and for one week only. The First World’s Fair!

[OOC: This post is open to all players throughout the next week. Feel free to tag around, start your own top levels, and generally have fun during the fair. Some new and familiar faces will be tagging around as well, and may tag into your threads!]

Action 1, Teeters

[It seems Teeters has a new regular! Friday Poker Nights managed to capture the eye of one Lt. Kyosuke Nanbu, and unfortunately they've never been the same since. Kyosuke, it would seem, possesses the devil's own luck, and has a killer wit and instict to match. Suffice to say, he's been making a fair bit of money each night, but the likely challengers have become slimmer and slimmer each night. He's on the lookout for new contenders. Care to give it a try?

OOC: I don't particularly mind Kyosuke losing, so feel free to let me know the kind of poker game you're looking for. If you have no major opinion, he does tend to win. A lot.]

Action 2, open training grounds

[While always diligent in training, it seems recently Kyosuke had kicked it up a notch. He's picked a recent spot and has been using live rounds. The steel training dummies, Calderan steel, are showing some major signs of wear and tear. He's definitely done a number on them.]

As the characters arrive, they will find what appears to be a rather deep cavern. Upon entering, the caverns are quite narrow, with twists and turns everywhere and different tunnels that all seem to be interconnected. As characters travel deeper within the caverns, reality around them will start to warp, they will start to see and hear things that aren’t necessarily there - images of old enemies, past failures, voices of condemnation, visions that strike at the soul and core of the characters. Once this begins, it will only increase in power and volume, demanding it be confronted, lest they be trapped within these caves forever.

[OOC: This event will run for a week. All characters who enter the caves will be subject to some of their deepest fears, darkest demons, and most abject failures. To overcome them, characters must help each other out, finding their purpose through strength of character and resolve to move forward. In general, these visions should require characters to come to grips with themselves. Illusory images and voices can and will appear and can take any number of forms, depending on what is most appropriate to a character. Additionally, characters may thread with each other and are encouraged to help each other out to overcome these personal demons. For those who wish to take part, they are able and encouraged to narrate their own personal demons, which will be on display for everyone who enters their thread. IC threads may be made in this post.]

[ A rather serious-looking man with brown hair tipped with blond appears on the feed and salutes. ]

Kyosuke Nanbu. Steel Battalion ATX Team Leader, Callsign Assault 1. I am here on exchange from Caldera. I look forward to working with you all.

[ Drapped over his shoulders is a very busty blond? How busty, exactly? You tell her, she's certainly not making any moves to hide her figure. ]

Wow, Kyosuke I never thought you'd be the mysterious type. I think I like you even more now~

Hihi, I'm Excellen Browning, ATX's Assault 2, also here from Caldera. You can call me Big Sis Excel, if you want. Or anything else you can come up with, I don't mind~

We're looking for something fun to do around the city. I heard you Unionites have some interesting stuff to keep you busy. Maybe we can find something that even stiff-lipped Assault 1 here can enjoy.

[ She looks away from the feed and toward him. ]

What do you do for fun anyway, Kyosuke?

Fun?

[ Kyosuke seems to consider this for a moment, looking a bit puzzled. ]

I'm not sure.

[ She gives him a very tired look. It's like they've done this song and dance before, more than a few times. ]

You need to think about your appeal, Kyosuke. If ladies don't think you're any fun, then they won't be interested.

Why is that a problem?

It's a big problem!

I don't understand...

Kyosuke, listen here--

[ And she cuts the feed, likely to lecture him about the inner workings of sex appeal. Or something. ]

[[OOC: Blue text is EXCELLEN, red text is KYOSUKE]]

[ACTION; EXCELLEN ONLY]

[ A few miles outside of Union, within the Verdant Forest, the sound of gunfire can be heard. Avian pokemon scatter as the sound rings through the air, and while they aren't aimed at anything in particular, a few dying trees appear to be riddled with bullet holes.

To the casual observer, it's hard to pick up which direction shots will be fired from. A streak floats by, then, suddenly, a barrage of bullets hit. Yet, despite the wide array of wildlife in this area, nothing living seems to be affected. Whoever is practicing here has quite the sharp eye.

If one stays long enough, they might catch a glimpse of the mystery sniper. A woman. Relatively tall, her long, curly blond hair tied into a ponytail. She holds a rather interesting weapon with her, which she'll occasionally lean against a nearby tree to pick up any stray bullet shells. ]
