[While everyone else is dealing with this Caledera business, Reimu is more concerned about her wayward best friend. Seaching for her had turned up nothing so far though, so Reimu decided to take a break from that and go take care of the shopping she needed to do in the city.

It's not like she doesn't notice what's going on, but she doesn't see it as her immediate concern. Though the fact that Gigas was causing trouble for them confirmed that those guys were jerks anyway.

She just sighed as she made her way through the market place, which was of course currently abuzz with all kinds of gossip about the current events. She just ignored it, determined to get her chores done as Ruukoto trailed behind her.]

Whatever. At least things are never boring around here.

[Reimu sounds... way grumpier than usual. One might even think she sounded upset, or at least mad.]

Has anyone seen a noisy blonde girl in black and white clothes who likes to dress like a witch?

Any of you ranger guys seen her out there beyond the walls lately? [She'd better not be, since her pokemon are still here at the shrine, but Reimu has been able to find her anywhere in the city so far.]

Someone tell me where she is, so I can smack her for being an idiot.

[She's currently in the shrine, holding Spark the jolteon in her arms and looking about as mad as she sounds, though of course she chose to use voice instead of video so it's not like anyone can see that.]

[The feed turns on to show Renko rubbing at her temple with her free hand for a moment, like she'd just woken up. Behind her appears to be a wall that's apparently quite old. Anyone who's been to the ruins will probably realize that's where she is.

She lets out a sigh before she speaks.]

Has anyone ever encountered a Pokémon in the wild that was unusually colored? I know that they're supposed to be unbelievably rare, but...I'm fairly certain I just encountered one.

[She mumbles something about the fact that she didn't even get a chance to try and bond with it, but it's not very audible.]

Are there any tricks to locating them? As in, do their behaviors differ from others of their species? I'd be interested in finding out if anyone else has experience with them.

[The last week or so was... interesting. As in very annoying. She'd never felt so energized and cheerful for so long before and certainly not like that and she had not been very happy when she realized it was whatever was causing those flowers that was causing her to act like that, so she'd ended up staying in doors for the most part and only going out at night, even if it did leave her more lethargic and crabby than usual instead.

Unfortunately, as much as Reimu would've liked to have found the responsible party and gotten them to cut it out, she hadn't found anything. More fortunately, whatever it was hadn't lasted long and even the stupid flowers were gone.

Reimu was still grumbling though, sitting outside on the porch the morning it abruptly ended and scowling at the suddenly clear shrine courtyard. She sighed, slumping over.]

At least I don't have to clean up after all that...

Participating Characters: Renko Usami, Marisa Kirisame, Reimu Hakurei, Ran Yakumo
Description: There's something disrupting the signal in the caverns! Renko's gathered up some help to investigate. Hopefully they can figure it out!
Warnings/Notes: None that I'm aware of!

Looking for a way to help in proving herself to the community, Renko had heard about a potential signal disruption originating from the caverns located outside of Union. Knowing she'd be unable to do it herself, and strength in numbers was always a solid strategy most of the time, she had found a couple of others willing to investigate the disturbance with her.

Getting to the caverns was the easy part. It was traversing through them that had Renko interested. Caves had always seemed dark and mysterious. Certainly worth exploring, with or without a goal in mind. Even though she was lacking in the whole being an Enlightened thing, she did her best to keep up with them. Hopping alongside her was Akamu, her Seedot and Proteus the Solosis was in her arms. Her Cleffa as usual, slumbered in her bag.

Turning for a moment to speak to whoever was closest, she broke the silence. "Exactly how far do these caverns go? Have they ever been mapped out?"

[Fai is looking unusually somber, and even in monochrome, it's easy to tell that he's a lot paler than usual. On his shoulder stands Babycakes, now evolved into a Floette, like an equally serious guard of honor with her flower like a rifle against her shoulder.]

[The young man says nothing at first, just holds up a rather skillfull sketch of a poké ball. Those with a bit of knowledge in history should probably recognise at least the general shape and design of it.]

Nevermind that they put those machines there to force Tyrantrum to evolve without their consent, but... they use these. Team Evolution, I mean. They keep pokémon imprisoned in these things, just like in the old days.

[He draws a deep, shaky breath.]

Despite how abhorrent this practice is - and believe me, I understand if you're angry - we should remember that they are from a different place with different laws. Wild accusations and demands aren't going to do us any good, is it? It's better if we try to reason with them, try to make them see why such treatment is wrong.

After all, the people in the old days were not all evil. If they were, why would the Savior have thought us worth sacrificing herself over? They were just ignorant.

But I thought you should be... warned.

[Things were winding down after the earthquake incident. Reimu was pretty glad about that and also glad that the shrine hadn't suffered any serious damage from the quakes. Her budget was strained enough as it was without having to worry about paying someone to come fix anything big, but as it was, she could mostly manage the repairs herself.

Some of her things had gotten broken though, mostly dishes and such, which would need replacing, but she could manage that.

Unfortunately, one of the other consequences of all that commotion was that Marisa had to leave early. Everyone making a fuss over them and the others who'd helped solve the incident had lead to people noticing Marisa enough that probably someone would realize she'd run away from her dad again and would try to drag her back there, so she'd left. She supposed it couldn't be helped though, and it wasn't that big of a deal or anything. At least she probably wouldn't have to deal with the guard showing up to bother them this time.

Another consequence of that commotion was that for whatever reason, one of the things they'd given to her as a reward for her help had been a pokemon egg, which she was currently carrying around in a sling, with a warmer to help protect it from the cold, as she cleaned around the outside of the shrine. Marisa had helped with the shrine repairs before leaving, but even now there were still some things that she needed to do.]

... At least things have quieted down again. [she sighed.]

Iron Mines:
The trip to the eastern mountains is punctuated by the continuing aftershocks. After each one, it may be tempting to glance back at Union to see if any of the towers have fallen yet. The expedition parties move with incredible speed, knowing that the fate of their City hangs on the line.

When they reach the mountains, guided by the coordinates given of the 'strange radio signal', the parties will find that many of the normal entrances and routes have been blocked by cave-ins. In contrast, however, a gaping hole has opened up where none existed before. As this seems to be the easiest way to gain access, the parties slowly lower themselves in...

They will find themselves in the long-sought iron mines.

But there are so many twisting turns and tunnels, it will be impossible to stay together and make any sort of progress. Each group will have to take their own paths from here...

Old City:
Each of the twelve entrances down into the Old City take a different meandering route through the ruins. Though several are blocked off by this time, there are still many potential paths to take. The state of the Old City is poor, being underground as it is, and occasional soft rumblings are certain to cause unease. As the report states, however, there is enough of an interval between quakes that it should be possible to investigate safely.

It would be unwise to venture down alone, but it is impossible, too, for everyone to stay together if they wish to make headway.

Union:
The wild Pokémon continue to come out of the Old City, though the frequency has been somewhat lessened. Rubble lines the streets and though no towers have collapsed as of yet, some seem to be dangerously close and certainly nobody should be staying inside of them. As stated, the towers in Sector 3 are the worse off and construction crews work frantically to attempt to restabilize the foundations of these buildings.

The injured are innumerable, the number of casualties is as of yet unknown, and the chaos and panic is difficult to fend off.

There is a great deal of work to be done.

((Please post below with your groups - in the first comment, please note the members of your group, where you are, and whether or not you intend to keep a threading order. Regardless of threading order, mods will be responding at least once every 24 hours to keep the event moving. Groups should be three to four people in size.

At this time, all characters entering the iron mines will be able to choose to bond with a free extra Pokemon listed under 'Cavern' in the Map and Wild Pokemon post. Please respond there if you intend to make use of this. Characters who have already claimed a free Old City Pokemon may not do so.))

[Voice]

[You've probably heard this voice on the network before. She doesn't actually use it too often, but she's usually either complaining or being vaguely insulting to someone or other. She sounds like she has a cold today though.]

... This stupid thing followed me home and now it won't go away. Does anyone want it? It's pretty useless, but it's a weird color, so someone has to be interested in it.

Sloooow.... [Yes, that dopy voice in the background is a Slowpoke]

[Action]

[Reimu is curled up in her futon with a light fever, buried under the blankets and looking more irritable than usual.

Ruukoto and the Slowpoke are both in the room. The Slowpoke is sleeping without a care in the world, but Ruukoto is fussing over her partner.

The miko sneezes.]

... Ugh, I hate winter.

((I don't actually want her to get rid of it. XD She's just being a grump.))
paradiseshrinemaiden: (Easy enough)
[personal profile] paradiseshrinemaiden
[Reimu is generally a lazy person by nature, and isn't too big a fan of training, so she sometimes puts that off. Still, since she did need to be in good enough shape to do her job, sometimes she would still drag herself away from the Hakurei shrine for a bit to improve her and Ruukoto's skills a bit.

Of course while she did this, she'd also keep an eye out for anyone who might need a bit of help, since that was also a part of her job. She wasn't a ranger, but as Hakurei it was still her duty to help out where she could.

Still, considering her complaints about going too far away from the walls in this weather, this still apparently didn't stop her and Ruukoto from going out as far as the lake.

The young priestess landed near the Lake Shrine, Ruukoto riding on her shoulder, bundled up from head to toe in her winter clothes. She did have to admit that the lake was a pretty place during the winter months.]

... I guess we might as well look around, huh?
paradiseshrinemaiden: (The things I put up with...)
[personal profile] paradiseshrinemaiden
[Reimu didn't really have much reason to be concerned with the iron shortage because it didn't directly effect her or her work, though it'd probably turn out to be a pain eventually. Her job was to tend to her shrine and keep an eye out for any possible incidents she might need to intervene in as current sole attendant and semi-official Head Priestess of the Hakurei Shrine.

Things had been quiet on that front though, so while she did keep up with patrols, when she wasn't she mostly lazed about the shrine and took care of any chores that needed doing. At present, that meant shoveling snow out of the shrine's courtyard. She'd taken care of the path leading up to the shrine the other day. Ugh, how she hated doing this, but it needed to be done and this one of those things Reimu wasn't really lazy about. She couldn't wait for spring.

Also, she hadn't gotten all that many donations lately, but that was nothing new. This place didn't really get that many visitors other than the old man and a certain childhood friend of hers after all. Though maybe she'd be lucky and someone might come by to drop a few coins in the donation box today.]

It sure is quiet today... [Cold too. Sigh.]
