[Well. This feed opens up to a somewhat familiar member of the Hikawa shrine. Eiji, who does look a little different than before; it seems he hit his final evolution sometime in the last week or so. His already prominent purple scales are a bit more numerous around his face and it looks like there's a constant puff of fog from his mouth every time he speaks or takes a breath.]

[He's anything but serene or graceful when he addresses the feed. If anything he looks a little uncertain but he tries to get it together. He tips his head in greeting.]

Good morning, everyone! I'm sorry for the interruption but ah- My name is Eiji Hino and I wanted to let everyone who didn't already know that Miss Nozomi Toujou left for a spiritual retreat with Eli Ayase and I will be the one looking after Etteilla until she returns.

[He dips his head further down.]

I plan to do my best for the shop until she comes back so please come and visit us in the Ninetales Vale. I'm afraid I'm not much of a fortune teller, but we have a number of charms and books that may suit your spiritual needs!

[Action: Around the shop.]

[Come visit! Eiji is doing his best to run around and take care of things. He just went from a part-timer to management so he's trying to get himself in order. A few of his pokemon are also roaming the shop trying to be 'helpful'. Eclair the Pumpkaboo is just kind of spooking people while his Skitty lays on the floor by a window soaking up sun.]

[Hina, his Talonflame is perched up high at least chirping when a customer comes in so Eiji can attend to them. Otherwise he's trying to make sure the shelves are nice and organized. He's going to make sure Nozomi didn't regret putting him in charge!!]

[Either way, when she chirps, he turns and offers a warm smile and a bow.]

[Action 2: Around the shrine.]

[Its not really a secret that Eiji evolved during Day of Fire. His presence is about three times more pronounced than it was before. His scales which were smattered all over him before have taken up most of his skin. In addition to the wings he gained several months ago he now has a long, dragon-like tail which is twitching back and forth as he seems to be concentrating on something. His eyes were a bright, icy blue that seemed to almost glow and from his mouth was a constant puff of fog. The air around him is also a tad colder than it aught to be normally.]

[He holds his hands up and in a swift motion a formation of ice follows the movement until it's several feet high.]

[He stands back kind of staring at it in disbelief before smiling lightly and holding his hands up again to try and get it to go away again.]

It's the morning of the 21st and it's clear even to the inexperienced Unionite, Refugee, or Citadel resident that the city has a different air to it. If it wasn't the atmosphere that got them, then the stalls lining the streets would. Many people are still working on getting set up for the night festival, but the stalls that are complete are lining many corners and they are filled to the brim with bright colors. From afar, the streets look like someone threw a rainbow of paint across the city.

They haven't seen anything yet.

It's not yet time for the festivities so any visitors are free to wander the streets. The natives seem to be delighted if amused at all the people interested in the holiday and are happy to sell anyone as much colored powder as the want. Sometime close to noon is when things change. The natives all kind of stop what their doing. The colored stalls start to close up and everyone looks tense.

A long, rattling trumpet sound rings through the streets and that is when all hell breaks loose.

It's every man and pokemon for themselves. Have fun everyone.

[Estelle's been into ruins before, but new explorations are something else. The experienced Seeker doesn't quite think of herself that way, but she should get used to it, she realizes. She walks forward a couple steps, then smacks her staff into the ground. Behind her, Dogi the Golurk... well, lurks.]

I think the entrance is ahead.

[The band is a moment or two of blurred images as whoever's handling the warp band doesn't have a steady hand on it. The brief view of the area around the handler shows the outskirts of Verdant forest.]

Hina, give that back. I need that to contact the city.

[Eiji comes into view after presumably taking his warp band back from his partner. Hina chirps something at him along the lines of I was trying to help! If you don't steer, Gamel will just wander off looking for food.]

Yes, yes, I know. What- [And then he sees it on. Sigh. He gives the camera a faint smile. He holds it steady, and from there it's easy to see that he and Hina are perched atop of Gamel the Mamoswine. They're slowly trekking out of the forest towards the mountains.]

It's already on, I see. Ah, hello everyone. For anyone that might be concerned. I'll be heading into the mountains for a few days. I think my team and I are more than over due for some time away. We'll be training with any luck.

[Anyone who might know him would note that there is definitely something off about him, though given the recent event across the city, that isn't too surprising. That even the vacant, but cheerful goober is having a hard time with what the Gods wanted to show them.]

I'll still be answering messages from the warp band, if anyone needs to get in contact with me.

[He leaves it at that. He hands the band back to Hina before it's shut off.]

[The video opens up with a smiling hippie enlightened you may or may not know as Eiji Hino. Behind him there seems to be a little commotion, but nothing bad. Actually it looks like Eiji's group band of troublemakers are hard at work with cleaning! There are a few of Rei's pokemon, as well. How on earth did he get them all to listen and get along this much? It is a mystery.]

It looks like the weather is finally turning into spring. It seemed like the winter was awfully long this year, yeah?

[He looks a little sheepish and then ducks as Hina, the Fletchinder darts past with a bag of trash in her talons.]

Though, I guess I am dreading the summer heat myself, being an ice-type. I'm already missing the cool air. Still, I think it's nice to have a change. Ah... but I wonder what everyone else does to stay comfortable in seasons their typing disagrees with. [He looks thoughtful for a moment. His typing was a lot more obvious after his evolution, so he's never had to worry about this before.]

[His thoughts are immediately interrupted, though. There's a crash and the sound of an argument. Eiji turns his head. You can hear the huff in his voice as he finds the culprit. A very disgruntled Glaceon.]

Yumi! What did I say before? Whoever does the best job cleaning gets to choose where we go for the weekend. That means no fighting with the others!

[Erp! She hastily goes back to what she was doing. Ah, yes. That's what Eiji had to do. Bribe them. Eiji then turns back to the camera to offer an apologetic smile before he shuts the feed off.]

[Well they had been talking about it for a while. It's a big, important step and Rei and Ami both needed some time to really get their thoughts in order and mentally prepare themselves to come out about it. Rei had already told one friend, and it was pretty apparent that Haruka and Michiru knew... somehow. They hadn't wanted it to be a secret, either, but knowing how their friends would react had at least kept these two rather private girls from immediately gushing about the recent occurrences.

Because gosh, they needed to make sure they had earmuffs for certain people's reactions.

Switching on the video, Ami expertly put together a filter for a very specific group of people, and after checking and double-checking to make sure (Rei didn't want a repeat of what happened to Maki) they sent the broadcast.]

Everyone, Ami-chan and I have something very important to tell all of you.

Yes, that's right. You see, during our recent trip to the tropical island, Rei-chan and I had something of a moment. She... [And Ami couldn't help but blush here.] kissed me... and it triggered my second Evolution.

[Rei nods, her expression cheerful, but stoic, awaiting an immediate explosion of goodwill...]

That's right. And... after thinking about it, and talking about it... Ami-chan and I realized something: that we have feelings for one another, and would like to pursue those feelings.

That's correct. We didn't want to hide it from anyone, but we weren't sure exactly how to tell everyone. We do apologize if it felt like we brushed you off the other day or have been secretive towards any of you. We were on our way to our first dinner together, and wanted some time alone.

Exactly. And...thank you for listening.

[The video feed is bouncing around and actually rather dizzying to watch, but there's a periodic view of a one Talonflame shifter perched in a tree not too far from Hikawa Shrine. After a while his voice filters to the Warp Band, and the video settles and moves closer.]

You turned the video on, Fluff. Come up here.

[Another moment of dizzying motion and the feed shifts to show Fluff, Ankh's Sylveon, proudly perched on his lap. He rolls his eyes.]

I take the time to get back in a tree and you're immediately stealing my shit. You little klepto.

[Except there's only fondness in his tone, which is possibly strange to hear.]

Ah. I'm looking for someone named Souda. Can someone tell me where to find him? I may have work for him.

[Someone is playing with a certain scaly vagabond's warp band when the feed comes on. There's an echoed giggle and the band sort of bobs up and down like it's being made to float. For a second you get a screen full of Pumpkaboo. Looks like Eclair decided to get a little mischievous today ~~like she's ever not~~.]

[Eiji is off in the distance a bit, sitting on top of a great big Mamoswine. He appears to be strapping a bunch of building supplies and other useful things to him to transport them to the other side of town.]

There you go, Gamel. We've still got a lot of work to do, but things are really coming along!

[He pulls on a strap to make sure it's secure. He's in the process of checking another- unlooping it and relooping it when he continues:]

When we're done here, we'll have a big dinner for all your heard work, okay? I-- Waugh!

[Gamel lifts his head in a very abrupt way. Clearly the mention of food got his attention more than anything else. FOOD??? THERE IS FOOD? WHERE IS THE FOOD?????? He takes off running with Eiji haphazardly trying to cling on for dear life. ]

GaaAAAAMMMEEEELLL!!!

[LOOK OUT UNION THERE IS AN ELEPHANT LOOKING FOR FOOD. Eiji would just leap off and fly to safety but he's stuck holding the straps down so they don't lose all their supplies. HELP? ]

With the revelation of the presence of the Enhanced, Union was able to quickly mobilize. As the strange conditions continued to worsen, the Trainers of Union once again set out to bring order to the chaos.

This time however, they do not walk entirely alone. A small, dedicated team remains behind in Union, sorting through the dossiers and information that Crystal and Rory have collected. Connected to those in the field via Warp Band network, hopefully they can identify the Enhanced and find a way to calm them before a tragedy occurs.

[OOC: There will be a thread for each active team based on the sign-ups. Any areas that did not have any sign-ups will not be present and will be addressed later. As per our usual standards, moderators and NPC helpers will progress the log at least once every 24 hours. The Union log will work somewhat differently from the battle logs in that the participants will be collecting information concerning the Enhanced; when enough information has been accumulated, they will be asked to tag into the battle threads to provide guidance and support to those out in the field.

Characters participating in the Union log will function as support staff for this event. They will have their own log interacting with Rory and Crystal and as characters in other logs encounter the Enhanced, they can use the observations made to try to find out more about the Enhanced in the field and help the people in the field determine an appropriate situation. Because of this, players in the Union thread may threadjack any ongoing log to relay information as needed.

The outcome of this event will depend very much on player decisions and the ability of the characters to respond to the threats at hand, so we would highly encourage you all to tag as regularly as possible. Thanks!]

[ It was the middle of the night when she took the band, her party well on their way toward the forest shrine. But as soon as she saw the announcement, she knew this couldn't wait. She was trembling--both angry and afraid of what was happening, and what could very well happen to her by saying this. But it didn't matter at this point.

Team Evolution messed up, and Rory was probably still playing coy. Someone needed to call them on their bullshit.

Elly takes a breath before speaking. Even with the light of the campfire, she looks a bit pale. ]

I'm doing this beyond my better judgment. I shouldn't be saying the things I'm about to say. So let me begin by apologizing. To my friends, my co-workers, to anyone who I've had the opportunity to meet in both Union and Caldera; I've been deceiving you. I'll get to that eventually, but that's not why I'm here on the Band.

I'm here to warn you.

Regarding the Enhanced. I know very little about them myself. They're somewhat common knowledge to citizens of Gigas-- [ A pause. ] Like myself. Rory is right, something about Gigas prevents us from having any answer to Enlightened, unless they come from other places, like Caldera. I don't know when the project started. What I do know is from my training, and even that is severely limited. They're... savage on the battlefield. There were even drugs that were manufactured in the Gigan military to try to replicate some of the combat prowess of the Enhanced. They work, but...

[ There is a lot of hesitance there, and Elly looks away from the camera, trailing off. It takes her a moment to be able to continue again. ]

These people should be approached with extreme caution, if you do find them. As was pointed out, one of the side-effects to the experimentation that made them Enhanced is instability. I'm not sure what causes it, but most of the Enhanced I served alongside were already a bit... skewed. Certain things made it worse, but it varied depending on the person.

I've never heard of an instance where Enhanced have caused disturbances like this, so I have no idea what is going on. Rory and Dr. Verdine--I'm kicking myself for not figuring this out before, since that woman is involved--might not even know themselves. Or they might be hiding something. I can't say. I can make assumptions, but I can't say for sure.

Team Evolution itself doesn't function the same way that the greater populous of Gigas do. To be sure, there are agents in Team Evolution that are from Gigas, but as far as I know they are not directly allied. To that, it's possible that they do want the best for these Enhanced. If it was Gigas, I can't say they would make the same concessions.

How do I know this? Well... As said, I served alongside them. Until a few months ago, I was a member of the Gigan military. I was recruited at a young age, and until about a year ago, didn't know any better that my actions would have such a lasting, horrible effect. I know that is no excuse.

I am no longer aligned with them, before anyone asks. If anyone is even listening to me anymore--I understand if you aren't. As far as my commanding officers are concerned, Elhaym Van Houten died on the battlefield. And as far as I'm concerned, she did as well.

I don't expect any of you to trust me, but I'm sick of lying, and I want to help. All I can do is tell you what I know, even if it might put me in a bad place doing so. I don't care anymore. Union has been more than welcoming to someone like me, and, after living here and meeting all of the people, I know where my loyalties lie.

[The feed flips on and on is a very distracted, worried looking Eiji. After a moment his expression shifts. He tries a smile but it's obviously still very troubled.]

Ah, pardon me for a moment.

[He's not even attempting to apologize for disrupting your network scrolling. He looks very serious about this.]

A friend of mine has gone missing. You might know him. He's a Fletchinder Shifter named Ankh. He uses a Warp Band, too.

About two weeks ago he disappeared from the Shrine he stays at and left behind a few feathers and all of his Pokemon. [He swallows, looking much more worried now.]

I got a message from him not too long ago. I think he's in trouble but I don't know where he is. He's somewhere in the wilds. Has anyone seen him at all? Perhaps while traveling? Or maybe...

[Eiji is so bad asking for help. He wants to go and look for him but he's not an idiot (this time.)]

I want to go look for him.

[He's not sure what else to say, but his attempt at being professional and polite is starting to fall through and he just looks worried and upset.]

[It had been a small thing, to get this gift together, but he had a good feeling about it. He was never one big for these kinds of holidays, but when it came to people he cared about, he tried to do his best.]

[Ankh? Well. Ankh was someone he had a hard time putting into words. He was frustrating, arrogant, prickly, and unfriendly but at the same time he knew that there was a lot more below the surface. He also knew that there had been a change in the nasty little Fletchling he brought home injured a few months ago.]

[Honestly, he had every intention of trying to nudge him back to the wilds but it really did look like Ankh had found a home here. So, Eiji would just accept that.]

[Ankh likely wouldn't get that, but that's sort of part of what this gift was about- it was a means of sharing the holiday with him, who he knew had probably never celebrated it before, but also it was kind of a means of letting him know that this was his home. He was apart of their strange little family.]

[He sent Hina out to go collect him and lead him back into the main room of the shrine. Eiji has a small wrapped package in his hands.]

[Well, that was definitely an eventful day. The Shrine was probably oddly quiet, with both Eiji and Hina having gone out to look for Rei.]

[Now that everything had been taken care of (Rei found her Charmander, said Charmander was given proper medical attention, He'd made sure Rei had made it to the gates, etc) Eiji found that he was very, very tired.]

[Between Evolving, spending some of his life to temporarily heal the Charmander, and then rushing back to the city with the sick Charmander, who could really blame him? He makes it through the entrance of the Shrine grounds before he huffs a breath, shakes his wings out and then promptly passes out in the snow.]

[Feel free to find him on the ground and poke him. He will be sporting a new pair of leathery wings now that he finally obtained his first evolution.]

[ooc: Open to anyone who might be visiting the Hikawa Shrine! Please come bother him.]

[Rei hadn't exactly been present in Union as much lately. She'd told a few people she was looking for a very specific Pokemon, but as of yet her efforts hadn't really proved fruitful. Still, every day the priestess would wake up early and vanish into the Scorched Woods atop her faithful Arcanine companion.

With her she had Elgyem and Natu in addition to Phobos and Deimos, using the Psychic types and Murkrow's sharp eyes to search for the Pokemon they all knew had to be out there. One she'd dreamed about, very literally.

Unfortunately this search had been going on for a month or so, and the weather was growing quite cold. Not that she seemed at all bothered, snowflakes melted before they touched her and she bundled up anyway. But that doesn't mean people she knows understand why she's out like this, or why she's so insistent on it. This was necessary, and she'd stay out here all winter if she had to. This was important, she just knew it.]

((OOC: This is more or less for CR noticing Rei has been absent from Union a lot, since she spends a huge chunk of time daily in the Scorched Woods. Feel free to tag her as she's coming or going, or out in the woods))

[ACTION; SWORDS OF THE SAVIOR TRAINING GROUNDS]

[It was true, she was not a sword, nor did she have the motivation to become one. However, when fire magic was your expertise, it was hard to do any intensive training in the verdant forest, so, striking a deal with one of the lieutenants, she managed to get time to herself after hours.

This was where she could be found when not at the medical center, rapier in hand, charging dummies and testing her strength. It was good to see that her skills had not dulled since she left a proper battlefield, and for those with any knowledge of combat might notice as much; Elly knew what she was doing. Dancing around the field with ease, she seemed to become even faster with each day she trained, until she finally came to a breakthrough.

It was late in the day, and the sun hung low on the horizon. Her breath came in short puffs of cold, white air, and a gentle snow danced around her, evaporating as they drew close. Drawing in one final deep breath, the redhead charged forward, letting loose a flurry of quick jabs. Then, all at once, her body began to glow, rapier crackling with energy.

One arch. Two. Three. Electricity gathered around Elly and her blade as she launched into sky.

Four.

With a final arch, she let the attack loose, slashing at the ground near one of the dummies. Dropping to the ground, the redhead managed to catch herself in a combat roll. She didn't see the attack hit, but the charred earth and burning remains of her combat dummy were enough indication. Her body tingled, and her hands shook and her breaths once again came sharp and shallow. She was almost certain she may have just evolved.]

[Were her eyes brighter? Hair redder? Something seemed different about the woman on the feed.]

I have a question. Is there a place where I can train where I would avoid doing any kind of serious structural damage? I would like to avoid that if at all possible.

I'm also looking for a sparring partner. I'm not sure how often this might come up, since working at the medical center keeps me busy, but someone who would be willing to dedicate a few days at a time to this.

[Eiji flips the feed on. He looks kind of uncertain. He opens his mouth to say something and suddenly, instead the nose of something big and furry takes over the screen. It snuffs loudly for a moment before backing up.]

[Eiji gently slides back into view. Sort of. He's mostly being overtaken but all that fur jeez, Gamel.]

Ah! Sorry for the interruption but I had a question that maybe someone could help me answer. Gamel seemed to be kind of distressed today and when I asked him what was wrong- he told me that he wanted to evolve, but couldn't. I couldn't quite figure out what he meant by that, but...

Does anyone know how a Piloswine evolves and how I can help him? He's begun stress eating and I'm worried both for him and also for the Shrine's food supply...

[Kanji can't believe he's actually gotten around to finishing this. But in any case, here's a rather worried-looking young man on the warp video feed, various tools of his trade around him.]

Yo, everyone. I've been workin' on somethin' on 'n off for a few months now, and I think some'a you guys might be interested.

It's been kinda hard, but I've been wrappin' my head around Enhanced clothes 'n textile stuff. Man, it's actually easier than the metal crap now I know what I'm doin'... I ain't a professional. But I think it's comin' out looking alright. [He raises something into camera view - is that a pair of gloves? A rather nice pair, too, with vinelike embroidery and a floral trim... with his blatant ground weakness, trying something grass-type made sense.] That's the last lot I did.

So... [Okay, okay, he can do this. Breathe, Kanji, breathe. I'm gonna start sellin' this stuff too. If you want any, hit me up at the usual places, the shop or the gallery, an' I'll see what I can do. I've got a few ideas, an' I think I can do stuff in any Type.

[Fire-type gear for the cold weather, ice-type or water type for the warm, glowy fairy bits for cave exploration... where to start?

He scratches his head.]

A Frosslass who, if you understand Pokéspeak, is chiding someone for being so foolish as to come all the way out here when he clearly can't.

[Still chiding and telling him she's started a feed, she obeys. Martin comes into view--he's in a cave of sorts. He looks...pretty sick. Boar and his Misdreavus are off to the side, giving him Looks while a Swinub cuddles in Martin's lap.]

I...this is embarrassing, but I seem to have pushed myself too much and can't make it back to Union right now. I will be fine, but it may take me a few days to get back. [Boar starts in about how of course he pushed himself too far, he didn't even take a week off before going traveling, training non stop for a week, and hiking to the highest part of the mountain he could feasibly get to. Does he want to die twice?

He was pretty sure Rei had said something about it being Eiji's birthday. He didn't actually care overmuch, since she had come to him with the request that he take Eiji and distract him until a specific time, and given him the idea of making him buy ice cream. Ankh liked ice cream. In fact, it was about his favorite thing. So when it had been suggested that he could force Eiji into buying him some, whilst still fulfilling some kind of request from Rei, it meant he was getting ice cream and having the grumpy Shrine Maiden indebted to him (at least, in his own mind). So while there was the vaguest of concepts in his head that this was a distraction for some kind of celebration in honor of Eiji, he was mostly interested in the fact that he was making the vagrant buy him something.

And so here they were, Ankh dragging Eiji by the sleeve, heading into town.

"You walk too slow, how do you walk this slow? You're taller than I am."
