Look Who Missed the Party
The thing about being on the road for a chunk of time like Ryuko's been, it means you miss out on a big chunk of local news. It gets even worse when your Warp Band communications drop out like hers had just the day before. At the time, she'd found it kind of annoying and weird but nothing worth getting bent out of shape about. Wasn't like she had anybody to talk to anyway.
At any rate, it meant that the sight of the damaged city and the bustling activity of workers was a bit of a surprise. But at least it meant that one new arrival to the city was going largely unnoticed as she wandered through town. True, the sight of a teenage girl carrying a large metal guitar case strapped to her back was a pretty uncommon one but there were more important things to worry about, right?
It's not until sometime later that she's come to a stop, leaning up against a wall and checking out of her new Warp Band that she plugs into the signal network, pulling up the video function.
"So, uh, I just got into town." She glances around and tosses something up and down in her free hand. A lemon. She catches it and lifts it to her mouth to take a bite out of it, skin and all, chews and swallows. "Kinda gettin' the feeling I missed something. What's the deal?"
[OOC: Intro post! Feel free to respond to her on video or run across her in person. She'll just be kinda out bumming around town for the time being.]

It was fair, at least. The blond didn't recognize the other girl's voice at first, too enveloped in what she was doing to register it. ]
One of the gods came and had a temper tantrum, then left before we could give it a good spanking.
[ You have a few seconds before she turns around
to runto react, Ryuko. ]no subject
Oh yeah? That sounds like a real--ghk!
[She doesn't register the voice right away either, but she does jump when she spots the blonde woman there working. Oh, shit, not her! What the hell is she even doing here?!]
Uh, right... that sucks. Okay, I'll just let you finish up there.
[Ryuko never runs from a fight. There's no challenge too big or too small that she won't stand firm and face it head on but... this is something else entirely. And something she will hastily begin retreating from
SHE DID NOT TRAVEL ALL THIS WAY AND FIGHT THROUGH ALL THESE DANGERS JUST TO DIE BY SUFFOCATION VIA GINORMOBOOBS!]

[ Was that some young kid slang? Excellen turned in what likely was the slowest, most excruciating few seconds of Ryuko Matoi's young adult life. ]
[2/2]
Ryuki?! Is that you!
[ Target acquired. You're not getting away, friend. ]
What are you doing here? I'm so happy to see you!
[ She descends. Run. Run fast. ]

Hey, watch it! Comin' through here.
[She sure doesn't seem to have much regard for the local law enforcement, this one. Even if she did recognize a Sword of the Savior.]
no subject
Whoa! Sorry.
[She's seen super strength like that - she's dating someone with it, in fact - but it's still impressive if it takes you by surprise. Still, she doesn't recognize this girl.]
...You new here? You picked a pretty bad time to visit, unfortunately.

Standing in the shambled streets with his stance squared and ready to move at a moment's notice, Kon lifted his hand to look around the city...]
Damn. This place looks like hell.
Action
[She glances over at the new traveler meandering up, looking like he's ready for something to jump out and try to take his head off. In contrast, Ryuko probably looks almost bored. That, or she's been conscripted to hold up this wall.]
No kidding. From what I heard some flashy dragon-god with some kinda beef came in and took a dump all over the place.
Action
Just heard? I was out on the road last night. No one in the area got any sleep.

An epic battle between the gods happened here - or rather, one god assaulted the city of Union and was repulsed by our own efforts and those of other gods.
I'm rather surprised it wasn't visible for miles, honestly.
Video
THE DAY BEFORE
Off in the distance, explosions and flashes of light and sound as the titanic battle between the gods and Union's defenders rages on. Miles away from the tremendous clash, there's a different sound: a defeaning, droning buzz. Followed by a crash and a shout as a girl comes crashing through the brush with a Cubone clinging desperately to her shoulder and a Spearow coasting along beside her. Behind them... a LOT of Beedrill.
"What the hell did you even do that for, you jerk?!"
"BWAAAWWK!"
"WHAT KIND OF BIRD EVEN LIKES HONEY?!"
... Aaand back to present day.]
Yeah.
Go figure.

[It's a rather...blunt response from Maka, and it's unusual for her to not give an actual explanation, but the dark circles under her eyes and the general demeanor of "freakin' exhausted" explain it.]
Zealots thinking they know what's right came in with their dragon and razed us.
[...And just who is this girl anyway, coming in out of nowhere? Where did she--no, Maka, it wouldn't do to be suspicious of every person that comes in to Union. She genuinely doesn't look like she has a clue of what's happened.]
...It was a bad time. Sorry we're not in the best shape for housing guests right now, our last ones left a mess.
Re: [video]
No shit. [No, Ryuko, she just said... nevermind. She tilts her head, shrugging.] I wasn't expecting any kinda welcome party anyway so... y'know. Don't worry about it.
[...Maka, that's not nice. She sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose and shutting her eyes for a second--okay, get yourself together, Albarn.]
Anyway, that's where we are right now. Um, we're all on cleanup duty, so I don't know how helpful anyone's gonna be to a new person. ...I, uh, made sandwiches, if you feel like eating something besides a lemon.

Besides the Dragon that blew the place up? Because if you missed that, man did you roll in at a funny time.
Voice
Yeah, that's the thing everybody's tellin' me I missed out on. Sounds like a real party.
[She's either being sarcastic, or she's disappointed she didn't get to fight the dragon. It might be hard to tell.]
Voice
[Looks like she had yet to recognize him. Heh.]
What brings you all the way out here? If you're looking to start fights you might be in the wrong city.

And then a young woman steps out and smiles somewhat sadly, brushing sweat back out of her face. Tossing down a pile of debris, she faces the stranger.
"An enemy attacked Union. She brought a dragon God with her."
no subject
Well, somehow it didn't feel exactly right doing that when the owners were inside attempting to sweep up their livelihood.
"Oh yeah?" She clears her throat, pushing away from the wall, taking in another look at the shop and then the city. "Sure made a mess of the place."
no subject
"It did, yeah. Probably because of what we did to it's partner in Glacier."

"If you're expecting the usual Union hospitality, we might be a little short on it for a bit." He was getting used to visitors showing up in town to see what this place was about. But the tourism industry might be closed down for a little while after last night. He didn't sound bitter or angry or anything; more like he was stating a fact and leaving it out there for her to make her own judgement.

"Wasn't exactly expecting a welcoming parade anyway." She shrugged, readjusting the strap of that case on her shoulder. "Didn't expect it to look like this either."
She gave him another look, her lips twisting into a frown.
"Hey, should you be out walkin' around like that? You look like shit."
no subject
He tilted his head a little at the guitar case.
"Were you doin' a gig or something?"
