The vast wilderness beckons! Beginning January 25th, 2014, all wild Pokémon threads that aren't incorporated as part of another post should go here. You are still welcome to include a section for bonding with wild Pokémon as a part of another entry or a log, but we encourage isolated wild Pokémon threads to go here to prevent flooding of the main comm with entries specifically geared to only cover wild Pokémon threads.

[Suddenly Fai was more than happy that he'd bought new and more practical clothes. His fluffy white and blue coat, his ankle boots in soft leather, his velvet pants... they would all have been utterly ruined by now. Oh, and he would be really cold and wet too, but that was a more temporary state than ruined clothes.

As it was, the thigh-high boots in much stiffer leather and the new black coat - shorter but still very smart - were definitely doing their job as he tramped through the occasionally ice-encrusted black mud. The elaborate hat he wore kept getting caught in branches, but a boy had to have some fun, right? And Feliks had said he simply needed that hat, so.

Yuui was walking just behind him, swearing quietly every now and again when he stepped into a sinkhole - there were a lot of those. But the air was crisp, the sky mirrored in the still pools of water all around and all around them dried-up cotton grass waved merrily in a light breeze. Life could definitely be a lot worse.]

You know, I would never have imagined a stroll through mud could be quite so... mm, invigorating, I guess?

[Fai was perhaps not the only one with the sentiment. From off in the distance, beyond some gnarled mangroves, Fai and Yuui can hear the merry sounds of splashing. And... singing?

The song has a rather raspy, croaking quality to it.]

[Even knowing that Fai wouldn't be able to see him Yuui still had to roll his eyes at that. Just because he'd found that this weird outdoors life kind of agreed with him much more than his studies ever had didn't mean that he was able to continuously summon the sunny attitude of his brother. And while the area itself was rather exiting the mud had lost whatever appeal it once had about an hour ago.]

Really? I would have thought that you of anyone would have heard about the positive effects of mud. Then again if you had you'd probably be rolling in it by now. ...Like Dotty.

[His voice is more teasing than anything and turns fondly exasperated as he notices that Fai's Pidove has once again forgotten how to fly and has instead decided that the Spheals way is the only way to travel.

The sounds of splashing... and other sounds makes him pause and he tilts his head to get a better fix of where it's coming from. He reaches out and tugs on Fai's arm, turning him in the direction of the noise, unaware of the smile that's already begun to form or the excited look in his eyes.]

Do you hear that? I think it's from over there.

[He's not jumping up and down in his eagerness to go and find out what's making all that noise but it's a near thing. Next to him Cargas is shaking his head at him, fondly judging him for his poorly disguised excitement. He sends some judgement Fai's way as well, he's sure he's going to be deserving of it soon enough.]

The Canyon

The wind was a bit cold at the top of the canyon, lots of room for the wind to run free, unlike the city. Which would be nice if it wasn't quite so cold already. Imogen started to make her way down after she viewed the scenery for long enough. Brighteyes working down his way down separately, but still close enough they could hear each other if one got in trouble.

[The path down the canyon is quite steep. ...Namely because there isn't much of a path. Few people had the thought of venturing down into its depths and there are areas where it's simply impossible to proceed without risking a dangerous fall. If Imogen is dexterous and agile, she'll be able to make it a good distance, but eventually, she'll reach a large shelf of rock jutting out from the canyon wall.]

Imogen was very good, but knew her limits... mostly. Still, this seemed right up her alley, it was all nearly impossible. Which meant she could do it with some help. There were all manner of ledges but she couldn't keep track of them from on the wall like she was.

So she had Brighteyes pick a weak treebranch jutting from the wall and spot for her. Letting out little sounds of direction as Imogen made her way, edge to edge till she hit a large shelf. Of course, the little fuzzy rat was more than able to make it to her when she was done, using a billion little ledges even Imogen couldn't manage on to dash across the wall like it was nothing.

"Showoff," Imogen added as she picked this spot to rest her fingers and legs. Agile she was, stamina... not so much, she didn't lend to the strong Attack for anything. Still, this was further than anyone else would go... wonder what else is around...

Week 3 (Mountains)

[One would think that she would have had enough with the mountains after a near death experience while bonding with Onix. However, feeling the need to try to find something, especially with the sudden tremors, Lux was back, this time alone.

Once again riding with her Onix, she had something specific in mind: Searching for any kind of iron veins.]

[As Lux is moving through the mountains, she spots a Mienfoo meditating on a nearby rock]

[Hopping down from the Onix's back, she gestures it to stay there for now. It might be a bit too intimidating given its size, but she still wanted someone to interpret, so she summons Camille, slowly heading over.]

Excuse me?

Week 3 (Entrance 2 | Old City)

[After working hard on helping the Rangers and other guardsmen round up the Pokemon in the Habitat after the earthquake Bertholdt finds himself making his way to the wall that had collapsed.] Stay close, Magby...

[His tone always so soft with her, his first Pokemon. She just coos and rests nicely over his shoulders, pulling his hood over both her and his head.]

Ah, it's you...

[Laurent seems to be crouched on the ground, checking the wing of a Fletchling that seemed to have been dazed by the earthquake, making sure it's all right. He remembers Bertholdt from the store, how they'd talked about Pokemon and their safety... Perhaps it had been an omen. After making sure the Fletchling hasn't broken anything, he gives it a stroke over the head and watches it hop off and, eventually, fly away.]

You're part of the guard, aren't you? There are injured Pokemon around here... They should be doing something about it.

Huh..? [Bertholdt looks around to see that young man from before, what was he doing in Old City with such a young Pokemon?] Hello...

[OH.. That is what he is doing.] Are you part of medical? I'm here looking for Pokemon in need, yes, if that is what you're asking. I'm not on duty, however...

Week 3 (January 28th) - Swamp

[Wiegraf doesn't go past the city walls that often, but he's starting to think he may have to. Most Swords have multiple Pokémon, and having a team is crucial; it reminds him of when he was younger, really, and went out here sometimes. A stinking swamp isn't quite the romantic ideal of going here, but getting away, into nature, is a welcome change, at least.]

[He trudges forward, blade still sheathed, and Aries walking behind him. Swamp water and mud has gotten into his coat. The Mareep occasionally makes an annoyed grunt. And by occasionally, one could meant "constantly."]

Yes, Aries. I know. I'll give you a bath when we return.

[As Wiegraf and Aries trudge along, they may spot what appears to be a bright blue ball floating off in the distance.

Strange. It didn't seem as if toys should be in this place. Surely no child would venture out here...]

Hn...?

[Wiegraf looks up at the blue ball. He frowns, then he nods at Aries. The Mareep nods back, before Wiegraf begins trudging towards that blue ball.]

Are you lost out here? [He has to hope it's not a child. That would be a problem, especially after the earthquake.]

Week 3 (January 28) - Canyon

[The damage and the destruction in Union was upsetting enough to Elly that she wanted to get out, when the opportunity arose. The Rangers had a responsibility to see what else was damaged; to find out if other problems had arisen, and that meant checking out the canyons and the caverns and the like. She walks, now, her Dratini trailing after.]

[With a pencil and paper, she marks the locations of some rock falls on the map she brought with her. Elly sighs, before she leans back against the canyon wall. The ledges feel a little precarious here, and a moment to catch her breath is welcome.]

[The canyon wall seems to be oddly resistant to her attempts to lean back as something prods her in the spine and attempts to push her away.

Give the wall some space, Elly.]

Old City

[Ashlynn was underground as part of her expedition into the Old City to rescue those who might be trapped. It was hard going, with the once familiar paths so close to the entrances now covered with fallen debris. It made everything look so alien despite the old road she followed being one of the most used.]

[The earthquake had certainly done a number on the Old City. Carefully marked paths now ended at immense heaps of rocks, buildings once prime for excavation had degenerated into rubble. As Ashlynn descends, she may fear that the question may not be 'who might be trapped' more than it was 'how many'.

About ten minutes in, there is a faint tink sound off the path as of metal striking metal.]

Week 3 | Verdant Forest (East)

[Once again, Quinn is back with her usual roaming in the forests, covering the eastern section today. The tremors are still going, but she is keeping her senses sharp from any trouble. Climbing trees to scan from a higher view is very risky in case one shock ends up knocking a tree down, so she will on the ground for now.

Edan got her back covered from the air. She thinks what kind of wonders will happen today, but if nothing exciting happens, it's fine. Still doesn't stop her from exploring and stopping every now and then to sketch the wild Pokémon or surroundings.]

[Off in the distance, there is a sudden arc of lightning into the sky, followed by the screaming of birds as a flock erupts out of the trees. It looks like Quinn's peaceful day is going to be interrupted.]

[... well, talk about a mess. After their encounter with Nidoking, other teams shut down the machines, so you'd think things went back to normal... but of course that'd be asking too much. When he comes out, some of the towers are still shaky, the streets are still in disaray, isolated wild pokemon from the hordes that rushed out earlier are still milling the streets here and there as people round them up...

Looks like it'll take a while.

He stretches--and winces a little from light pain in his ankle. Yeah that'll take a few days to heal fully. Let's hope Atsuro didn't notice]

[Luckily for you, Atsuro's too busy observing the mess too to notice your wincing. He looks a little crestfallen.]

The quakes sure did a number on the city... I hope no one's been hurt. Seriously, at least.

... The Pokemon might be dangerous, too... Not as much since they're not in hordes at least, individuals generally act less aggressively, but they're probably all scared and confused, and might still attack people out of sheer panic. I hope there were orders for those without Pokemon of their own to stay somewhere safe.
