The vast wilderness beckons! Beginning January 25th, 2014, all wild Pokémon threads that aren't incorporated as part of another post should go here. You are still welcome to include a section for bonding with wild Pokémon as a part of another entry or a log, but we encourage isolated wild Pokémon threads to go here to prevent flooding of the main comm with entries specifically geared to only cover wild Pokémon threads.

Please respond to the correct Week if possible for organizational purposes.

Week 3 (January 28th) - Swamp

[Wiegraf doesn't go past the city walls that often, but he's starting to think he may have to. Most Swords have multiple Pokémon, and having a team is crucial; it reminds him of when he was younger, really, and went out here sometimes. A stinking swamp isn't quite the romantic ideal of going here, but getting away, into nature, is a welcome change, at least.]

[He trudges forward, blade still sheathed, and Aries walking behind him. Swamp water and mud has gotten into his coat. The Mareep occasionally makes an annoyed grunt. And by occasionally, one could meant "constantly."]

Yes, Aries. I know. I'll give you a bath when we return.

[As Wiegraf and Aries trudge along, they may spot what appears to be a bright blue ball floating off in the distance.

Strange. It didn't seem as if toys should be in this place. Surely no child would venture out here...]

Hn...?

[Wiegraf looks up at the blue ball. He frowns, then he nods at Aries. The Mareep nods back, before Wiegraf begins trudging towards that blue ball.]

Are you lost out here? [He has to hope it's not a child. That would be a problem, especially after the earthquake.]

[The blue ball does not respond, given that it's a blue ball.

........No wait hold on.]

Marill!

[The blue ball says 'Marill' and abruptly erupts out of the water.

A wild Marill has appeared!

It looks alarmed! ...And vaguely amused at seeing poor Aries's completely devastated coat. ...But mostly alarmed!]

[Wiegraf stops in his tracks. A Marrill, not a child's ball. That's a relief. He raises both hands, though, and shakes his head quickly at the ball as it erupts out of the water.]

Easy, there. Easy. I mean no harm.

[Aries looks up at Wiegraf, like 'is that the best you can do?']

[Marill seems to consider this for a few moments before it splashes through the water towards Wiegraf and Aries. It gestures with great emotion!]

Marill! Marill mar marill! Riiiill -- Marill!

[It is a shame Wiegraf probably doesn't have the slightest idea what it's saying. Aries, however, may note that Marill seems to be relatively fearless and requires help with something important.]

[Aries does, in fact, notice this. It looks at Marill thoughtfully, for a moment, and then at Wiegraf. The best way to get a stubborn fool to help is by moving him into place to do the most good. Aries is a master at this.]

[Which is why he rams Wiegraf from behind, and knocks him into the water.]

Reep.

[Wiegraf surfaces, blowing water off his lips, and turns to glare at Aries, then looks at the Marrill. He sighs, then he nods.]

Lead the way.

[Marill looks extremely excited at this motion from Wiegraf! It proceeds to...

dive back into the swamp.

Aries can headbutt Wiegraf a few more times since that's exactly what he needs to do to find the important thing that Marill has lost in the swamp muck.

[Aries starts to move forward to headbutt Wiegraf again, but a sharp glare in the Mareep's direction keeps him from doing that. He does raise a hoof, though, and point down at the water.]

[Wiegraf takses a deep breath, then dives down under the swamp muck. He starts feeling with his hands in there, to try to find his way around -- and, maybe, whatever has the Marill so excited.]

[From time to time, Marill will surface and make squeaking noises at Wiegraf that can be interpreted as a question of whether or not he has found anything. It will make a circular motion with its arms during these times - whatever it wanted was probably that shape.

It will be a good twenty minutes to half hour of feeling around in the muck before Wiegraf will manage to find anything even remotely spherical.]

[Wiegraf keeps coming back up for air, and back down. The Marill gets a nod at its description. He's methodical, at least, and doesn't spend a lot of time searching the same places twice. He keeps up for that good twenty minutes, even if it means swallowing irritation.]

[After all, the Marill seems a little worried.]

[Eventually, Wiegraf's hands will touch upon something vaguely spherical. ...It's kind of lumpy, to be honest.]

[Wiegraf can't quite tell what it is. He tugs, trying to pry it free, and then comes above the surface to get a look at whatever the precious object is.]

[Hopefully not the One Ring.]

[It's covered in mud and muck at the moment, so it might be a bit unclear. The object appears to be a pot of some sort, although it's not clear how the top attaches. Underneath the mud, it shines a vivid blue.

Marill gasps as Wiegraf lifts it up out of the muck and squeaks in excitement, bouncing up and down on the surface of the water.]

[Wiegraf moves to the edge of the pot, and sits down, cradling the strange pot in his hands. He looks down at the pot, then up at the Marill.]

Here it is. Do you want me to open it?

[He is never going to be dry again, he thinks.]

Marill!

[Marill bodily hops out of the muck and snatches it out of Wiegraf's hands with a mock expression of horror. No way! No opening. None at all.

...

It follows this up by cheerfully bouncing around Wiegraf in a circle and wrapping its tail around his leg. Buuut it might show you its secret a little later.]

[Wiegraf cocks an eyebrow at that, before she cracks a smile, amused. He nods, then reaches down -- hey, no one else is here, it won't ruin his image of being a tough ex-rebel -- and pats the Marill on it head.]
