The vast wilderness beckons! Beginning January 25th, 2014, all wild Pokémon threads that aren't incorporated as part of another post should go here. You are still welcome to include a section for bonding with wild Pokémon as a part of another entry or a log, but we encourage isolated wild Pokémon threads to go here to prevent flooding of the main comm with entries specifically geared to only cover wild Pokémon threads.

Please respond to the correct Week if possible for organizational purposes.

Hot Springs

[When Asch had gone to get his Growlithe, Luke had been jealous. Not that he'd ever admit it. So here he was, looking around with Mieu the Eevee in his arms and his Totodile Chomper running around at his feet. He's a little scared, because he's not supposed to be outside Union... but he wasn't going to let Asch have more Pokemon than he did.]

[The Hot Springs aren't terribly pleasant. The smell of sulfur is quite strong and the steam quickly reduces the fresh adventure into something more of a hot, sweaty one. There's also the matter of running into wild Pokemon obscured by the mists.

Which is precisely what Luke proceeds to do about three steps in, tripping over something sprawled over the ground.]

[Yeah... he figured it be way more touristy than this. Because Luke doesn't realize people can't refine an area in the same week as discovering it. He coughs a little from the amount of steam and sulfur smell, hoping his asthma won't act up. He really shouldn't have gone here himself...]

[He shouts when he trips, stupidly, wincing as he pulls himself up off the ground and kicks at the lump his foot had hit.]

Hey! Damn it, that hurt...

Slaaaaaa.......

[The lump responds with a long, drawn-out, long-suffering sigh. ...It slowly rolls over until its face is visible.

A wild Slakoth has appeared!

Slakoth blinks at Luke before very slowly changing its expression into one of sadness. Why... did he... kick it...... twice...........]

[Oh man... what the hell is it? Luke rubs his skinned elbow and looks down at the stupid lazy thing. Chomper comes over to sniff at it too while Mieu tries to recover from Luke falling on top of him, licking at a sore paw.]

What is it? It looks stupid.

Re: Week 18 (May 10th - May 16th)

The problem with checking out the volcano was that all but two of Apollo's Pokémon were weak to Fire. The two that weren't - Fletchinder and Hippopotas - were his two strongest and thus left him far from defenseless, but it still put a damper on things and meant that Tropius couldn't fly him directly there. That last part wasn't quite so big of an issue though, since Apollo enjoyed the walk through the jungle, probably unlike many other people.

In any case, Apollo stepped out of the tunnel with Fletchinder and Hippopotas at his side. Apollo extended his mental awareness outward to try and sense the minds of any nearby Pokémon, while Fletchinder began spiraling into the air to get a view from above. For the moment they would be keeping towards the outer rim, at least until they had a better idea of the terrain.

The volcano is somewhat less densely populated than the jungle, as might be expected. Whether or not it was likely to erupt in the near future was a more or less unknown factor, but few Pokémon were keen on building their homes very close.

However, as Fletchinder rises into the air, an irritated shriek will ring out through the air.

Fletchinder immediately begins evasive maneuvers in case of an attack while trying to see who shrieked. Apollo and Hippopotas also look to see who it is and if there's an active danger or if that was just a warning.

No real attack seems forthcoming. Nor is there anything visible on the horizon. But if Fletchinder continues to fly, a small barrage of stones will quickly begin to arch its way.

The continued shrieks will translate to something along the lines of 'get down idiot'.

All of this can be localized to a group of dead trees off along the base of the volcano.

Fletchinder was continuing to fly, but avoiding the stones put an end to that plan, as did the contents of the shrieks, and he descends back down to Apollo, landing on his outstretched arm. Apollo can't understand the cries of Pokémon in that much detail, but Fletchinder can relay the meaning to him through his Child of the Verdant Forest powers, which is close enough. He and Hippopotas cautiously move towards the trees, Apollo projecting his lack of understanding at whatever Pokémon may be among them.

Volcano

The heat of a day that was very nearly summer had brought him out to the island, in search of clear water and a cool breeze; from there, it was curiosity that drove him over to the strange mountain in the distance. It wasn't very far from Union or anything, but the weather was so different! Totally weird.

And speaking of the temperature, it seemed the closer he got to the mountain, the warmer it was, until it was a little oppressive even for a Fire type! Feliks paused to sit on a rock, wiping his brow with a pocket handkerchief. Gods, he was sweating like a Spoink!

While Feliks is resting there seemed to have been a Camel like Pokemon staring at him from a distance.

Or rather it seemed to have been half-staring at him and wondering what and who he is and half-dozing off in place.

[Feliks hardly notices the Pokémon, because he's suddenly distracted by the onset of an idea. An awesome idea!]

[Fiddling with his Warp Band a little, he summons his Cubchoo to his side. He sparkles a little with excitement as he explains his plan:]

Wojtek, use Powder Snow on me!

[FLAWLESS LOGIC. So cool and refreshing!]

[ The Powder Snow catches the attention of the Pokemon as it jumps awake. It's never seen such a thing in this Volcano before. It's always hot and well... hot here (not that it minds) and the quick breeze of cooler air that it felt from the Powder Snow has it slowly coming over in curiosity. ]

Nu?

[He has your attention, now allow him to get your interest! Feliks grins at the Numel, brushing a little rapidly-melting powder fluff from his forehead.]

You wanna try it? It probably won't hurt you, either!

[The Cubchoo turns towards the newcomer, with a curious little "Choo?"]

Deep Mines

[Garen was off exploring, trying to clear his head a bit. He had naturally went deep into the mines, Loring was accompanying him, as was Eckhard. The Breloom was a bit apprehensive about going this far underground, but then again Garen had kept up his promise so far about keeping Moss Rock safe, so perhaps the justice-obsessed was serious with keeping all the areas around and going into Union safe. The Doublade said nothing as it often did, and floats behind Garen's right shoulder where it can keep an eye out.]

[Breloom may be right to be concerned.

As they progress deeper into uncharted territory, they'll begin to hear strange, echoing footsteps from all about them. ...The footsteps will stop when they stop, and start up again when they move, so perhaps it's just some strange acoustic pattern.]

[It is possible, given how much mineral ore is around them, and the shape of the tunnels, but he pauses after the fifth time, by now Loring the Breloom is keeping very close to Garen and looking around them frequently.]

Stay calm, remember your training.

[It is quiet, and fairly calm as well, but Garen does draw his sword. The Breloom takes a stance, ready to use it's stretchy arms, and Eckard draws itself, the blades gleaming in the dim light. However, Garen starts walking again, and the Doublade immediately spins around, watching the rear now as they continue further in.]

[Doublade whirls around just a little bit too late as something rushes quickly past it!

Breloom will feel a not-so-light chomp on top of its head.

Mm, mushroom surprise.]

[Loring predictably shrieks, throwing an arm at Garen to get him to stop whatever it is. Thankfully between the sudden movement behind and the scream, Garen turns, glancing the Breloom's claw off his sword, and putting a scratch into it, leaving him to wonder how he would have fared without. Regardless, the Doublade readies to attack and Garen grips the Breloom to keep it from thrashing into the twin blades as Eckhard uses Night Slash.]

Hot Springs

[Taking a dip in the Hot Springs is nice and all, but after that time someone managed to piss off four Feraligatr during a beach trip, Jade isn't about to let his guard down until he's sure the area is clear of dangerous Pokemon. A little excitement is fun, but he vastly prefers not ending up as a snack when he's trying to get some R&R.]

[Which is why he's patrolling the area, trying to see past the thick curtain of steam to inspect the native Pokemon. Unfortunately, his own Pokemon doesn't share his caution. Sandshrew is busy cannonballing into the hot water whenever she has the chance, and Fletchinder swoops in lazy circles overhead, occasionally expelling an ember from its beak.]

[ At the edge of the Hot Springs there seems to be an egg (though the egg seems to end near the top and there is some pale yellow in its place). It doesn't move, at least until Sandshrew canonballs into some hot water.

Then the egg shakes a little bit as it begins to topple over and is about to fall into the water. Save it? ]

[The shaking catches his eye, and he pauses for a moment, wondering if it's worth the bother to save it when it's halfway across the Springs.]

[Thankfully, he's spared the bother of deciding as Sandshrew resurfaces, paddling to shore to start nosing at the "egg". Can she eat it???]

[ The egg topples over in the other direction when Sandshrew pokes it. Sadly, it is not actually edible unless Sandshrew wants to still eat it after little arms and legs are suddenly poking out of the shell.

And the top part opens up and the egg Pokemon revealed itself in full and tries to get back up. ]
