The vast wilderness beckons! Beginning January 25th, 2014, all wild Pokémon threads that aren't incorporated as part of another post should go here. You are still welcome to include a section for bonding with wild Pokémon as a part of another entry or a log, but we encourage isolated wild Pokémon threads to go here to prevent flooding of the main comm with entries specifically geared to only cover wild Pokémon threads.

Please respond to the correct Week if possible for organizational purposes.

[With everything happening at the moment, Flynn found that he needed to take time to himself so he could adjust mentally. His Pokemon seemed to appreciate being out of the city, if Mandrake's relieved chatter was anything to go by.

Pulling his coat closer around himself he continued to trudge onward.]

[((I'll separate the encounters somewhat, I hope that's alright!)

If Flynn continues on away from the city, after walking far enough he'll find himself in a rocky, barren area. There is a hint of a presence to the place, and one of the rocks lying around has an unusual sheen to it (well, the parts that aren't covered in dried mud and dust do)-- and a strange yellow-orange spot, if you look hard enough and can guess it through the dust and dirt covering it.]

It's all good!

[He does slow his pace to scrutinize the spot a little. Was it some kind ore? Mandrake continued to bounce up and down, getting closer to the spot.]

[It might not be such a good idea, Mandrake! Because once you get close enough, the "rock" moves at surprising speed - and becomes not, in fact, a rock, but a pair of rather powerful-looking jaws. They snap at the air right next to Mandrake - and then again when their owner realizes they missed. And again, following you if you decide to retreat.

A wild Mawile appeared!

It is rather exhausted from wandering the unfamiliar terrain after it's ended up away from the mountains, brought down together with a landslide, but it is also hungry and angry and none less dangerous.]

[Mandrake squeaks in surprise and then proceeds to try and catch a breeze to get away from Mawile's snapping jaw. Flynn catches the shiny Pokemon and backs away quickly, not taking his eyes off of the Steel-type.]

[Annoyed at its prey escaping (and at the hunger dulling its instincts), the Mawile turns around to follow the Hoppip - but the sight of Flynn stops it. Humans? It didn't expect any humans! They are rare enough guests in the mountains, and few Pokemon living there come in direct contact with them.

... Well, whatever. It's angry and hungry and who cares that you are like three times its size. In a swift motion, Mawile lunges forward and turns around, its jaws snapping with even more force now, aiming for Flynn's ankles - incapacitating, best strategy or best strategy?

Mawile used Bite!]

[Flynn's left hand becomes coated in steel as the jaws come snapping at his feet. Mandrake takes that as his queue to jump down and does so, away from Mawile's snapping. Flynn braces himself and then attempts to pin down the Mawile's jaw, thereby keeping it from trying to eat Mandrake or attacking him anymore.]

[Mawile can chew through iron, so it doesn't take Flynn's hand seriously yet - it twists out of his grasp and bites at it, only to be met with a sudden pain in its jaw. Flynn's steel is much harder than anything it's used to, so it backs away, stunned from the unexpected resistance.]

[Up in the mountains, away from difficult moral questions about the people who messed with all those Pokémon and indirectly scared the hell out of her, Rise is exploring and taking some mineral samples. Or more specifically, picking up rocks that someone might be able to turn into an Oval Stone.]

[Normally, in the wilderness, she lets Musashi take the lead as by far her toughest Pokémon friend, but she needs someone to carry all those heavy rocks, and sword-arms or no, he's really the only one with the upper body strength. Thus, currently, Rise and Himiko are side-by-side, scouting out rocks and trying to feel out wild Pokémon.]

[As Rise and Himiko wander through the mountains, they will eventually spot a peculiarly-shaped boulder - quite large, grayish in color. Maybe they could chip an Oval Stone off of it.

This idea might seem great until it cracks open an eye and stares at the puny human.

Hey but it's probably got amazing upper body strength. Probably.]

[Oh. That's a big guy.]

[Or girl.]

[But still very big.]

Oh! Uh...hello there!

[Himiko stands off for a minute, Tracing this new Pokémon's ability in case she has to fight. Rise, likewise, instinctively picks up its type and attacks, but puts on her friendliest smile and raises her Warp Band.]

If you don't mind, could we talk for a second...?

[The living rock gets to its feet.

A wild Rhyhorn has appeared!

It seems vaguely sleepy and slightly less grumpy than Rise might have expected. It blinks at her for a moment or two before staring without any particular answer. She couldn't understand it yet, but 'what the heck is that supposed to mean' is probably fairly obvious.]

((Ability and attacks are up to you to determine but it's level 13.))

[Himiko is now a walking lightning rod! Isn't that just peachy.]

Alright, if you'll just hold still a moment...

[Rise activates her Warp Band and tries to connect to the drowsy Pokémon. Hopefully he's not faster than he looks.]

[Rhyhorn makes no motion to move away, though its eyes do widen a little at the flash of light. Annoyed, it shifts its feet and begins to turn.]

Hey, I'm sorry to wake you up--

[So she says through the connection.]

--but I've never heard of a Pokémon like you around here before. I was wondering if you'd ever heard of Union City.

[Jason decided that he was really going to start buckling down with this whole 'exploring the world beyond Union' thing. And, while he is sticking close to the forest this week due to the arrival of the strangers, he was intent on searching hard for some new Pokemon to bond with.

Things hadn't exactly gone according to plan with his Hippopotas encounter last week. But perhaps he'd have more luck int he forests close to Union. Piper flew over head, either scouting or stretching her wings...he couldn't exactly be sure.]

[ Well you never know what you might encounter in a forest. Whether Jason will have good or bad luck this time around well... we'll just see.

While Jason and Piper are walking through the Forest there is the occasional rustling of the bushes not too far behind. Something seems a bit curious. Or maybe it's just waiting for the right moment to attack. ]

[Jason picked up on the rustling after awhile. At first he wonders if it could be the wind, though the thought is only brief. Jason can control the wind to a degree and he hasn't felt enough of a breeze to cause that kind of sound. However, Jason doesn't turn around just yet. It might be better if he lets the something approach on its own terms.

So, he continues walking, occasionally looking up into the trees to keep an eye on Piper and make sure she stays close.]

[ Rustle rustle.

The rustling continues for a while as Jason and Piper continue to move through the forest. But eventually something changes as whatever is in the bushes decided to send out a spark at Jason. ]

o/ it's okay!

[notthatjason]

Ow.

[Jason's hand goes to his neck as the spark hits out of reflex. It's only a minor stinging shock than something that would actually hurt, thanks to his own typing, but it's still enough to get his attention.]

Guess we can't ignore it any more. Piper.

[Jason drops his hand and turns towards the grass. Piper swoops low over the grass in hopes of driving whatever pokemon is in the grass out into the open.]

[ Piper's attempt to drive the Pokemon out of the bushes worked.

Out jumps out a Pikachu its cheeks sparking with electricity. It looks like it was looking for a battle with Jason and waiting for him to deliver. ]

[notthatjason]

[Piper swoops up and lands on a nearby branch. She has a sense that this is about to take an electric turn and knows better than to get involved.

And at least it wasn't reacting as the Hippopotas had, but still did Jason just have some aura about him that begged for Pokemon to try to pick a fight with him? Still, this is a Pikachu. Maybe he can bond with it a little easier, seeing as they share something in common.]

You sure you want to try that?

[Jason holds a hand out, letting electricity dance between his fingers.]

[ It's Jason's fate to have every Pokemon pick a fight with him.

Though the Pikachu's cheeks stop sparking as its ears perk upon seeing the electricity. So this human, whoever he is, can use electricity as well?

Perhaps that it why it was drawn to him. Its cheeks spark again. Show it how well you can use your electric prowess! ]
