The vast wilderness beckons! Beginning January 25th, 2014, all wild Pokémon threads that aren't incorporated as part of another post should go here. You are still welcome to include a section for bonding with wild Pokémon as a part of another entry or a log, but we encourage isolated wild Pokémon threads to go here to prevent flooding of the main comm with entries specifically geared to only cover wild Pokémon threads.

Please respond to the correct Week if possible for organizational purposes.

[ For the past three or so weeks Roxas had built enough courage to go into the Verdant Forest with the help of his other Pokemon.

Well, a little into the Verdant Forest. He never went in very far, if far at all, before turning back and heading back into Union. And every time he's gone it's really just to allow his Pokemon some fresh hair for the ones who stay in his room instead of the Habitat.

Also gives them some space to move.

So Roxas is in the Verdant Forest again this time having gone just a little bit deeper than the prior weeks. See, he's getting there!

Slowly. ]

[ SLOW? There is no time to be slow! For suddenly, down comes a shiny sentret from that tree right there!

Oof!

Just... just give it a second after faceplanting into the ground... ]

[ He didn't see that one coming! Roxas turns to check to see if the Pokemon was okay because wow that look like it might have hurt... ]

... Are you okay?

[ He's seen plenty of Sentret before this one but this one looks.. different. More golden. Why is that. ]

[ Why is the sky blue. Why is grass green. You will never get to know, Roxas. But let her just pick herself up now, up onto her tail and with a headshake.

-- And ahoy! Who is that! A person! She points to him excitedly, and then - curls up her tiny hands into fists and bounces on her tail.

C'mon, c'mon! Stick 'em up!!! Stick 'em up!!!! What do you mean we're usually a cautious lot. ]

[ Blink blink.

Sentret what are you doing? Are you trying to get into a fight with Roxas?

Are you trying to get into a fight with a zombie?

He's just going to rub the back of his head and watch. ]

... Guess that means you are.

[There is one area around Union that Rise's studiously avoided during her Pokémon travels, and that's the swamp. It's smelly, it's ugly, it's hell on shoes, and she's fairly certain all the cute Water-types also live in the Forest. Even the neat Psychic-types allegedly found in the Ruins within weren't enough to tempt her to trek through the mess.]

[The beautiful scales they'd found here and given out during Kricketune's competition, however, were temptation enough. If those belonged to a Pokémon, she wanted to see it. So equipped with a brand-new fishing rod (plus a heavy tarp to sit on and some netting to discourage bugs), Rise is studiously trawling the deeper parts of the murky waters.]

[Unsurprisingly, the swamp is just about as disgusting as Rise expects. It's a wonder anyone ever leaves this place with as many shoes as they started out with, but she's found a (relatively speaking) pleasant area to go fishing, in any case. By which the term means 'almost clear enough to actually see water underneath the green goop'.

Out in the swamp, a sudden burst of bubbles shoots up to the surface. ...It looks like something is near.

Did she bait the line with anything?]

Aha! Found someone. Himiko, get ready.

[Her Kirlia nods and starts idly playing with a leaf she conjured out of nowhere. Rise had stuck a Cheri Berry on the line as bait, on the basis of the fact that she doesn't know what every Pokémon likes to eat, but she's never met a Pokémon who didn't like Berries. She angles the baited hook toward the bubbles.]

[It's hard to tell what's going on underneath the muck but

It will probably be less hard when Rise feels a sudden sharp tug on her line. Hopefully she doesn't get pulled into the swamp.]

Gah!

[She's surprised at the pull on the line and staggers forward, Himiko jumping forward to grab onto her partner's waist and try to keep both of them out of the muck.]

[It's liable to go poorly if what's on the other end of the line is much larger than your usual fish Pokémon.]

Hot Springs

[Luke is back at it again, but this time he's with Robin on his trip to the Hot Springs. His Slakoth had pestered him to come back, but this time he's staying far away from the water. The steam is a risk to his asthma, but he knows to be more careful this time. With his Flareon at his heel and his Slakoth hanging off his shoulder lazily they arrive at the springs.]

This is where I found Slug, right by the water. It really likes this place for some reason. It kept pestering me to come back!

[ Robin sort of wished that he was coming back to the Springs as Dick so Ace the Growlithe could come along but there was no way Dick was going to go anywhere with Luke. But he was okay with coming along with the noble as Robin since they seem to get along better that way.

Which makes things a lot easier for Robin.

Nightwing the Murkrow is perched on his shoulder and Bats the Zubat is looming behind them as Robin looks around at the area. ]

Maybe it enjoys taking a soak in the hot bath.

[ Which is... strange to say for a Pokemon but hey could be true! ]

Yeah, apparently. That's where he was before.

[Luke isn't sure why he asked Robin to come with him, but maybe reaching out to a fellow Sword to befriend wasn't so bad. It beat coming here with Asch and getting into trouble like when they'd gone to the Mausoleum. He could do without another hour lecture from their father.]

[When they get close enough, he lowers the Slakoth into the water and scurries back from the edge. Slug kind of... floats there on his back, closing his eyes and smiling gratefully. Then he promptly falls asleep.]

Ugh, this is gonna be boring. It's too hot here to do anything but sit around.

[ It's a good thing Robin didn't have anything else to do. And if he can help Luke become more tolerable for the sake of people around him so be it. But that remark... ]

Well, that's sort of the point. What else do you expect to happen around here?

[ While the two trainers are talking a Ducklett walks up from behind the group and tugs a lightly at Mieu's tail. Hey. Hey. It wants to show you something... ]

Well I don't like it. It's hard to breathe.

[Mieu looks around at the tug, blinking as he looks at the Ducklett. He'd been trying to pay attention to Luke and Robin's conversation but this was way more interesting.]

Fla...reon?

[Apollo had wanted to go check out those flowers right away, but that idea had been vetoed by several parties due to it being outside of signal range. Instead, he's back at the volcano as part of the effort to catalog all of the species in the area. At least it's an enjoyable alternative.

Similar to before, he's here with two Pokémon who aren't weak to fire, namely his Talonflame and his Hippowdon, and is using his Child of the Verdant Forest abilities to keep his mind open for any Pokémon nearby who might want to attack him to reduce the chances of being taken by surprise.]

[ If Apollo is keeping an eye on the base of the Volcano he would eventually see a figure of a Pokemon that have not yet been seen coming out from behind a few rocks. It's staring at the Volcano as if it's contemplating whether it wants to go in deeper or just stay at the base.

And for a moment it seems like it takes a step.

Only to take a step back. ]

[Apollo is keeping an eye on everything, as are his companions, but it's actually Hippowdon who notices first and alerts the other two. Apollo changes course and heads towards the volcano, projecting a greeting and a sense of calmness at the unknown Pokémon's mind.]

[ The Pokemon, unaware of Apollo's presense, thinks that it's the volcano that is greeting him.

His eyes widen at the thought of it. Wow, he didn't know the volcano could speak.

... Though that just makes it even more scary.

Oh Volcano please don't hurt it. It's just trying to find the courage to go in and explore! ]

[Apollo gently informs the Pokémon that he's not the volcano (and he's not exactly "speaking" either), but if it looks behind and a bit to the right of itself it'll see him.]

[After Eve's defeat at the hands of Melaka, she began once again having doubts about her strength. She needed to train more, and she needed another partner to spar against. Something fast. After hearing about the Skarmory living high up in the mountains, she made that her destination.

The cold didn't bother her at all. It should, but she wouldn't let it. Even if she would still get sick from it. Eve was determined to find what she came here for. A blade-winged Pokémon to join her. So as she made her way through the snow and rocks, she kept her eyes peeled for any signs of these elusive Pokémon.]

[The snow is falling heavily, so the chances of Eve getting sick is high today. The chances of seeing any Pokemon tracks is low though, so she'll have to pay close attention if she plans on seeing any Skarmory foot prints. Up ahead, there's a cave veering off the path. Does she go inside, or continue on?]

[eveolution]

[Eve pauses for a moment, assessing the situation. While she doubts that they are bothered much by the cold and the wind due to this being their habitat, nesting areas would likely be in concealed places.

Therefore, she chooses the cave. However, that doesn't mean she should be lax and forget about the outside entirely. She turns to her Klink.]

Moby. Position yourself at the entrance and watch for anything outside.

[The steel Pokémon gives her an affirmative clinking noise before she turns and enters the cave proper.]

[Inside is quiet and cold, and the cave is deep. Beyond the entrance it gets darker and darker, and from further in there's a rustling noise.]
