The vast wilderness beckons! Beginning January 25th, 2014, all wild Pokémon threads that aren't incorporated as part of another post should go here. You are still welcome to include a section for bonding with wild Pokémon as a part of another entry or a log, but we encourage isolated wild Pokémon threads to go here to prevent flooding of the main comm with entries specifically geared to only cover wild Pokémon threads.

Please respond to the correct Week if possible for organizational purposes.

Week 5 | Canyon

[Regardless of how things go, Hiroshi figures that being out here is better than being in town right now. He needs a break from the name-calling. He should have figured starting this enterprise would rile people up again, but he hadn't figured it'd happen so soon.

This dry, craggy place is still better than back there. Takuro walks nearby, steadfast as always.]

Hiroshi feels a chill down his spine, as if something were leering at him and lowering his defenses.

[Hiroshi freezes. The notion of anything following him tends to get him uptight as is due to past experiences. He stops for a moment, casually reaching to his warp band. Guertena appears, and seems to be scoping out the place. Nice aesthetics.

Hiroshi, meanwhile, scans the environment for anything out of place.]

[A wild Shinx appears and hurls itself at Hiroshi's face!]

Week 5 | Mausoleum

[Lucas carefully proceeds down through the Old City, his natural light illuminating the way forward as he proceeds. He normally didn't come down here, but... there was something about the thought of the Mausoleum that drew him. He had debated with himself for a few days before deciding that probably nothing bad would happen - he had survived the Tyrantrum, after all. What else could faze him?]

They say there are ghosts down there...

...

I guess... people probably don't become these kinds of ghosts. But...

[Avey the Eevee doesn't give him of an answer as he carefully picks his way forward. The Mausoleum eventually comes into sight and he'll slowly head in.]

Week 5 | Mausoleum

[ Not long after Lucas entered the Mausoleum something seemed to had found an interest in him.

As quietly as it could it floated its way over to the boy and extended its string-line arms to try and pick Lucas up.

Hello Lucas. A wild Drifloon appeared and it wants to carry you away! ]

Oh...

[And pretty much not knowing any better, Lucas will reach up and gently hold on to Drifloon's string-arms.]

...I'm Lucas. Did you want to shake hands?

[yes good shake hands with the ghost who brings small children to the underworld]

It'll contently wrap it's string-arms around the arm you offered before trying to lift you up in the air. ]

Verdant Forest East

[BABY'S FIRST TRIP OUTSIDE THE CITY OMG. Kairi walks through the forest, totally alert, with her Cleffa in her arms.

She's nervous, but the short sword at her side and the presence of her first Pokefriend gives her a little confidence.]

[Confidence is klefki key when it comes to the wilderness outside of Union. That and a good, solid back up plan. Maybe the ability to run really fast, too.

Every now and then, the occasional rustle or twig snap reaches Kairi's ears, enough that she should be alert or almost on edge. Luckily, it doesn't sound like anything big.]

[She can run pretty fast. She raced against boys, after all! She's also not too scared of tiny things in the bushes-- in fact, she's curious. When it seems like whatever it is won't just walk away, she stops and gently places Minnie on the ground.]

Is someone there?

[She presses a finger to her temple, trying to see if she can sense anything from the brush. It might be a wild Pokemon, but it might be in need of help, too. She's never used her empathic link like this before.]

[It won't walk away, no. In fact, it will do the opposite and roll towards her, bushes parting as it emerges to stop directly in her path. The wild Seedot lays in its side and stares at her.

Then suddenly it pops up on to its feet and lets out a cry. It might even be in greeting.]

[After a lot of nerd talk and friendship building, Jeff had decided to go exploring for Pokemon with Armin. The two blonds had a lot in common after all, and even if Armin was a little older Jeff felt a kinship between them. At least he hoped so. Friends had always been hard for him to make.]

[So here they are! Off to see the Wizard into the wild of... Verdant Forest. It's pretty lax, but Jeff's Pokemon are still pretty tiny. He has both Zap the Elekid and Robo the Golett with him today. Zap is riding on his shoulder and Robo is marching along next to the duo as fast as his stubby legs can carry him.]

What do you think we'll find?

[Armin is...tentatively excited? This is broad daylight and they're going into the forest -- plus Gertrude is idling somewhere between the trees, too cool to be seen with all these babies. Murgatroyd the Cherubi stayed back with the egg and the little tiny as-yet-unnamed puffball of a Mareep, so there's just Meredith in her usual spot on Armin's shoulders.

So they're all safe and protected and this is going to be totally cool and relaxed and okay, right? Right.]

I-I don't know. It could be anything really, right? I mean, probably not any water types, unless we make it to the lake, but lots of bug and grass sorts...

I think so... I'm afraid I don't know as much about Pokemon as I'd like...

[Most of Jeff's knowledge and love lies in that of cold, dead machinery. Ahem.]

[He presses onward, even with Gertrude looming behind them. She's nice, and Armin introduced them neatly prior, but he's still a bit wary of something that big. The Steel type does intrigue him though.]

I wonder if... ah, never mind.

Me neither, except what I've read in books. But practical experience is so much more helpful, don't you think?

[Armin is chattering along, all smiles, heedless of how Gertrude is messing with Jeff by creeping up -- startlingly quiet for something of her size -- and exhaling at the back of his neck, to try and startle him.]

[ Melaka has Lurks the Croagunk and Slugger the Phanpy beside her as she sets off into the Scorched Forest. It's one of her first assignments - a preliminary search to map out the area for a further expedition to chart through the forest and find the source of how it never seems to heal. There is some suspicion among the Ranger higher ups that there might be either people to discover or another ruin to discover. And she's out here to chart out a pathway here, as well as get a feel for all the pokemon here from a distance if possible.

This is an odd assignment for her. She really was expecting to fight more... but. She has found in her first two proper missions as well as the patrol she met Sneak on that she needs to calm down on that. So right now it's a lot of Phanpy sniffing out threats beforehand and then Lurks and her avoiding it ]

[The Scorched Forest is calmer today than usual. No sudden flares of heat and temperature, no smog hanging in the air. The area is generally avoided by normal trainers due to the higher-than-normal likelihood of being incinerated, so there isn't much to speak of by the way of clearly marked paths. It's probably worth mapping, as Melaka is doing.

As she progresses, she may hear a faint sound in the distance - it's very hard to make out unless the group is quiet and it's hard to say exactly what it is. It sounds a bit like... a faint whoosh.]

[ It is, and she does mark it. Really, the big part of mapping out the area thus far has been to try to avoid places where the air gets unbreathable, which the schnoz on her Phanpy has been invaluable in finding out before they get into the thick of it. Unfortunately, Slugger is not the most quiet of Pokemon. Sure they are trying to be covert on the whole, but while she's making notes and sketching here and there, Lurks is the one standing guard and... Slugger is restlessly digging around in the soil when he doesn't need to be sniffing. And when there doesn't seem to be that many Pokemon in the immediate area, like now.

Which is enough noise to miss the faint sound.

[If they're at all diligent about mapping, they'll have a few chances at picking up on the sound, in any case, as they wander back and forth. It doesn't grow louder, but it's distinctive enough that it will seem odd.

Alternatively, Slugger may or may not be sensitive to the faint scent of blood in the vicinity.]

Week 6 | Mausoleum

[With Shi at her side, floating freely instead of in Maya's hair, the medium begins to explore the mausoleum. While others might find it desolate or creepy, Maya actually seems... almost serene.

Which is saying something, considering how excitable she is usually.

The place of the dead is not something to be trespassed on without reverence, after all. As she explores the mausoleum, though, she isn't above humming while she works. It's not disrespectful to sing while you explore, okay.]

Week 6 | Mausoleum

[ Well if there is anything Maya's humming is doing it's catching the attention of something nearby. Intrigued by the sounds it floats nearby out of curiosity while also trying to keep its distance. ]

[Shi is the only one of the two who seems to notice anything is nearby-- she doesn't notice exactly what, though. Scanning their surroundings, she gives a ghastly little warble.]

Aw, come on, Shi, don't worry. I'm totally watching out. [Totally. Completely.] It doesn't feel like anything around here's too strong, anyway. Lighten up!

[She knocks pats at Shi's mask, continuing to hum as she scans one of the strange coffins. She doesn't want to open them-- that would be rude, after all-- but she does want to take a look around.

[ Eventually while Maya continues to look around there is the sound of something trying to hum what she is humming.

But since it's repeating after her the the humming is off by a few beats. It's likely not in tune either.

Between Maya and the mysterious accompaniment they might have just made the Mausoleum 20% more spooky. ]
