The vast wilderness beckons! Beginning January 25th, 2014, all wild Pokémon threads that aren't incorporated as part of another post should go here. You are still welcome to include a section for bonding with wild Pokémon as a part of another entry or a log, but we encourage isolated wild Pokémon threads to go here to prevent flooding of the main comm with entries specifically geared to only cover wild Pokémon threads.

[After a lot of nerd talk and friendship building, Jeff had decided to go exploring for Pokemon with Armin. The two blonds had a lot in common after all, and even if Armin was a little older Jeff felt a kinship between them. At least he hoped so. Friends had always been hard for him to make.]

[So here they are! Off to see the Wizard into the wild of... Verdant Forest. It's pretty lax, but Jeff's Pokemon are still pretty tiny. He has both Zap the Elekid and Robo the Golett with him today. Zap is riding on his shoulder and Robo is marching along next to the duo as fast as his stubby legs can carry him.]

What do you think we'll find?

[tinytactician]

[Armin is...tentatively excited? This is broad daylight and they're going into the forest -- plus Gertrude is idling somewhere between the trees, too cool to be seen with all these babies. Murgatroyd the Cherubi stayed back with the egg and the little tiny as-yet-unnamed puffball of a Mareep, so there's just Meredith in her usual spot on Armin's shoulders.

So they're all safe and protected and this is going to be totally cool and relaxed and okay, right? Right.]

I-I don't know. It could be anything really, right? I mean, probably not any water types, unless we make it to the lake, but lots of bug and grass sorts...

[goingsouth]

I think so... I'm afraid I don't know as much about Pokemon as I'd like...

[Most of Jeff's knowledge and love lies in that of cold, dead machinery. Ahem.]

[He presses onward, even with Gertrude looming behind them. She's nice, and Armin introduced them neatly prior, but he's still a bit wary of something that big. The Steel type does intrigue him though.]

I wonder if... ah, never mind.

[tinytactician]

Me neither, except what I've read in books. But practical experience is so much more helpful, don't you think?

[Armin is chattering along, all smiles, heedless of how Gertrude is messing with Jeff by creeping up -- startlingly quiet for something of her size -- and exhaling at the back of his neck, to try and startle him.]

Wonder what?

[goingsouth]

I like to think so... not that I have much of either myself.

It's nothing I--!

[Jeff jumps a little at the puff of breath that feels more like a gust of wind from such a large creature, crying out in surprise and wheeling around.]

E-excuse me!

[tinytactician]

No, really you can tell m--

[Oh, hi Gertrude. Armin's going to try really really hard to be polite and sympathetic and not laugh at Jeff's reaction.]

Gertrude, be nice. [Is the Steelix rolling her eyes? ...yes, she definitely is. But she'll stoop down and prod the top of Jeff's head politely with one of her stony spines. Hello, tiny human.]

[goingsouth]

[He stoops a little, smoothing out the top of his hair and blushing a little in embarrassment.]

H-hello, Gertrude. You're quite... sneaky for someone your size.

[tinytactician]

[Gertrude makes a sound like rocks grating together. Armin beams.]

She likes you.

[goingsouth]

That's good! She seems very nice.

[As long as she's not making fun of him...!]

[Jeff looks over where his Elekid has stopped in his tracks, sniffing before taking off into the trees.]

W-wait...! Oh dear. [He adjusts his glasses and fidgets.] What do you think it is?

[tinytactician]

[There's a good 75% chance she is, but she's usually making fun of someone (read: Armin).

But wait, the chase is on! Armin will go barreling after the Elekid, heedlessly.]

I have no idea! Come on! [Off to meet potential danger!]

[goingsouth]

Y-yes, all right!

[Jeff takes off after them. Golett decides to stay behind with Gertrude because wow fuck running. He can barely walk without tipping over half the time.]

[Zap, up ahead, will look back at his pursuers, grinning at the challenge and speeding up... only to trip up over his feet and land head (prongs?) first against the base of a big oak tree.]

[tinytactician]

[This will cause several acorns to plop to the ground, one or two on Zap's head, which is only logical, as it's an oak tree.

The big greyish pinecone is another matter. Oak trees don't have pinecones. This is the only thought Armin and Meredith have time for as they round the corner. Then it's too late, as tiny eyes gleam from deep within the layers of protective bark that Pineco's are known for layering on themselves.

They clearly came to the wrong neighborhood. Armin and Meredith dive for cover, attempting to pull Jeff along, because 3, 2, 1, go, the Pineco is exploding!]

Watch out!

[goingsouth]

Zap...!

[Jeff sees the Pineco right before the explosion, reaching for his Pokemon courageously even as Armin tries to pull him away. The Elekid still manages to catch the brunt of it still though. Jeff moves to wipe dust from his glasses, his face and hands stinging but otherwise fine...]

What was that?!

[tinytactician]

[Armin has dust all over himself and his hair is sticking out everywhere, but he looks absolutely delighted, rolling to his stomach and wiggling forward, heedless of Meredith's indignant peeping.]

I'm not sure! But it's still there -- the explosion didn't hurt it at all.

[Pissed it off, maybe -- the Pineco is very still, glaring at Zap intently.]

[goingsouth]

W-well, if it caused it... it probably wants to be left alone, right?

[Zap isn't gonna leave it alone, though. He's angry now too, wiping the soot off his furry face. Then he charges up a Thundershock.]

Z-Zap, wait a moment!

[It's too late, of course.]

[tinytactician]

[Pineco is hella pissed by this, and in case anyone thought that it was too tuckered out to explode -- well. Think again.

Armin yelps and ducks for cover, then elbows Jeff a little harder than necessary.] Stop him!
