Who: Rise Kujikawa, Kanji Tatsumi, and Chie Satonaka
Where: The Tropical Island
When: April 27 and like a few days afterward probably? No one on this trip is good with itineraries
What: Training, materials-gathering, possible suntanning and nosebleeds.
Warnings: Lots of Rod and Wood puns at Kanji's expense.

Rise - sensibly clad in a broad hat to avoid certain problems she had last time she was here - alights onto the Tropical Island's beach from on top of Namazu's head. She turns and pets the Gyarados affectionately on the nose, showing a distinct lack of concern for teeth as big as she is.

It's really, really hard to take a Gyarados seriously whom you knew as a Magikarp.

"Okay, we're here!" she calls up to her friends on the quasi-dragon's back, then starts high-stepping toward the surf. "Ouch! Man, be careful, the sand's hot!"

Two of her old acquaintances, recently reunited in a desire to train Pokémon, have things they wanted to get done on the tropical island. Rise had naturally offered a ride, now that she felt like her own Pokémon were strong enough to go into the jungle without protection and she had this friendly lift who really needed open spaces to swim in anyway. Plus, it's a good time to enjoy the beach before regular boat routes got set up and the place started getting crowded.

"You guys coming or not?"

((I don't care about format or tag order and have no particular plan for this anyway other than getting wood. Tree wood.))

Put that - put that back, guys!

[Yes, that's the sound of a flustered Kanji. That is to say, a very loud sound coming over the airwaves, combined with a few scattered Pokémon sounds. In a moment, he's got the Warp Band back and the view's panning around erratically-]

...I guess you wanted to show off, huh. Fine.

[Alright, so he's on air now. Might as well take advantage of it. And now the Pokémon become visible...

Looking absolutely adorable. His Flaaffy's in a sweet little fuzzy waistcoat, and his Pidgey a little hat and scarf. They all seem to have acquired some accessories or outfit pieces or other - nice looking ones, all around. Even the latest addition, a Helioptile, has a decorative ribbon on one ear. She seems rather too happy.]

Yeah, I was workin' on a jacket for Silk here [and he points out the Flaaffy] but the others wanted to get in on the action too. I couldn't say no, could I? C'mon, they were lookin' at me with those eyes...
S- so, anyway, what do ya think? I never made stuff for Pokémon before...

[Ichiro appears on the screen. He looks a bit exhausted]

So... has anybody ever bonded with a Pokemon who then just refused to listen to them at all? How do you deal with it? I got this guy...

[the camera pans to reveal a Sneasel chasing his Shroomish around the theater]

...at the Ice Rock. He challenged me and I defeated him in single combat, so he said he wanted to learn to become stronger.

And now he won't listen to me.

Or do what I ask. Or...

[There's a loud crashing sound]

Crap.

[The feed cuts out]

[Action]

[Ichiro can be found around the Union Divine Theater chasing Sneasel around. Sneasel is gleefully running around and generally having a great time of it, causing problems and minor property damage as he goes]

[The video feed opens on a flower-strewn park. A little fidgeting, and Kanji's proud face shows onscreen soon enough.]

Hey, guys. So... I've had a few new Pokémon join up this past week. They ain't seen a video before, so I figured I'd show them what's going on. Say hi! Go on... I know you're nervous, Flick, it's gonna be okay...

[He pans the band camera around. It turns out that Flick's an oversized (though whether from mass of feathers or not is hard to tell) Pidgey, who takes a moment to show. The second Pokémon crowding onto the screen is a Jigglypuff, bouncing up...]

And - okay. It's your big moment. They're gonna love ya.

[The last of the Pokémon?

A black, long-clawed, feline creature with a feather protuding from one ear. It looks up at Kanji, who crouches beside it with a flurry of odd camera moves, over at the band itself, and nods.]

He's a Sneasel. From the icy bits of the mountains, around the rock. You ever seen anythin' like him?

He takes a moment to ask it-] Heh, everything down here okay for ya so far? [And at the very least, the expression on its face is a happy enough one.]

After an unusually long and cold winter, the land is finally beginning to stir in the anticipation of spring. In the forest, the first flowers are beginning to peek out of the ground, the hum of Bug Pokémon begin to be heard, and of course, the first wisps of pollen begin to incite misery amongst the more sensitive of the population. The sun sets later and later each night, and at the end of a long workday, the prospect of escaping early to enjoy a stroll out in the brisk spring air becomes more and more enticing.

The pall cast by Team Evolution has long faded into little more than a distant cloud on the horizon. Though the mystery of 'Mega Evolution' remains unsolved, it seems inconsequential in the face of the strength that Union itself is gaining. All damage from the earthquakes has finally been fully repaired, production of iron and steel has been greatly enhanced by the discovery of the mine, there were plans to build a new port and to enhance the range of the Signal Tower, Enlightened and Pokémon everywhere were evolving one after another... On the whole, morale was high.

The city takes it upon itself to reflect this.

When the people of Union begin to stir early one spring morning, they will awaken to discover a cheerful city, indeed. All of Union, overnight, has become covered with vines and shrubs and flowers - plant life, everywhere the eye could see. Though the majority haven't yet begun to flower, the rainbow assortment of buds promises a lovely sight to come in the near future. A few citizens, annoyed, set to work removing the intrusive flora from their properties, but the majority simply take the unusual sight for what it is.

And for the particularly observant, dotted here and there among the landscape, the occasional large pink blossom can be spotted already in full bloom...

Hi everyone!

So, Quinn, Jinxie and I found something in the Verdant forest while we were checking out the signal disturban--

[What is that a leaf waving in front of the feed?]

Rowan, cut it out, I'm trying to talk!

[Is that a leafy face pushing itself into the feed? It lets out a cute "Eeee~?" (Whatcha you doin =O) before Lux picks it up.]

Really, now, cut that out! Just a minute!

[She sighs as if she's really put upon. If you weren't so cute...]

Anyway, we found a strange rock that was interfering with the signal. Rowan here says that they worship it because it helps them evolve. It looks relatively unremarkable, but I'm curious if it has the same effect on other pokemon!

[Wow Lux this is boring Rowan's bored play with me wait I'm gonna crawl all over you now. Yay best jungle gym ever! You know, despite the fact that he's super heavy. The blond tries to keep her cool until a Liepard very calmly steps over and grabs the Leafeon by the scruff and canters off.]

Thank you, Jungler.

Anyway, I'd love to figure out what they evolved from, and what other effects this rock might have. From what Rowan told me, just coming close to it caused him and his brothers to evolve. And that... they were brown, which doesn't narrow it down too much. Any ideas?

[Action; streets of Union]

[Anyone out and about in the streets of Union today will likely catch sight of a rather energetic young trainer and her Pokemon jogging all throughout the city.  It's a daily ritual for Chie and her Tyrogue, both of them needing a healthy amount of physical activity to keep their muscles firm and toned.  The two of them push as hard as they can, each one momentarily overcoming the other as they race.  For anyone who bothers to watch this in action, there's also a Phanpy doing its best to keep up, as well as a fat Lillipup strolling along casually at a much greater distance, periodically yawning and getting lapped by its trainer and companions.

Eventually, all of them slow to a stop, resting on a bench somewhere in the Entertainment District.  The Phanpy flops over exhausted, the Tyrogue sits down and immediately begins doing cool down stretches and massaging its legs, and the Lillipup curls up at Chie's feet to take a nap.  Chie herself just drapes her arms across the back of the bench, leaning her head back as she catches her breath.]

Whew... good job, everybody!

[Later on, Chie decides to introduce herself over the Warp Band.  She is pretty new to this trainer stuff, after all.  So everyone is treated to the sight of a big smile and a V for victory as her Pokemon look on from the background.]

Hi, everyone!  My name's Chie Satonaka.

[She gestures to the Tyrogue, the Lillipup, and the Phanpy in turn.]

And these are my Pokemon!  Lee, Biao, and Panna.  I've been buddies with Lee and Biao for a while now, but Panna's new to the team.

[This announcement is met with a happy trumpeting noise from the Phanpy's trunk.]

So anyway, I'm kinda just starting out with this whole Pokemon training thing, so if anybody's got any tips or secret training techniques or anything, just let me know!  Chie, out!

Cutting for length because it's late and the text got away from me )

Whoa! That was...you guys evolved? Just like that?

[Toyo is more concerned with the state of her Oval Stone until she realizes it's fine, while Himiko looks up in annoyance that her partner's now a foot taller than she is. Rise pulls up her Warp Band to commemorate the event before realizing it's already recording.]

Guess no more piggyback rides...hey! I was recording that?

...tell me I was recording that, it was the coolest thing I've ever seen!

Huh. Here goes. Hey, everyone.

[It's hardly like Kanji's never seen a warp band in his life, but he's not the sort to go shouting out to everyone on the thing. But here he is, now, with a faint bleating at his side suggesting that his Mareep wants to take a closer look itself. He laughs slightly.]

- hey, fuzz, gimme a second here? I'll sort your stuff out in a bit.

...ree?

Really.

[Scratching it between the ears, he goes on-] So. Gotta question for the more experienced Trainers out there. Say someone was goin' for a trip out into the forest... you know, getting serious about this stuff... anyone got any suggestions about good places to start out? Good spots for a beginner to really get down to business? Where I ain't - uh, he ain't [fooling no-one there, pal] gonna run into too much trouble? Or where there's something cool to see.

Lemme know, okay?

[As he's recording this message, he's sitting on a bench near his home, sorting through a heavy backpack - okay, is he sure he's got everything? He's packed, repacked, got food, water, camping supplies, weaponry (or what anyone else would call it, anyway)... but something's still nagging at him. He's got to have missed something...]
