Springtime for Union

After an unusually long and cold winter, the land is finally beginning to stir in the anticipation of spring. In the forest, the first flowers are beginning to peek out of the ground, the hum of Bug Pokémon begin to be heard, and of course, the first wisps of pollen begin to incite misery amongst the more sensitive of the population. The sun sets later and later each night, and at the end of a long workday, the prospect of escaping early to enjoy a stroll out in the brisk spring air becomes more and more enticing.

The pall cast by Team Evolution has long faded into little more than a distant cloud on the horizon. Though the mystery of 'Mega Evolution' remains unsolved, it seems inconsequential in the face of the strength that Union itself is gaining. All damage from the earthquakes has finally been fully repaired, production of iron and steel has been greatly enhanced by the discovery of the mine, there were plans to build a new port and to enhance the range of the Signal Tower, Enlightened and Pokémon everywhere were evolving one after another... On the whole, morale was high.

The city takes it upon itself to reflect this.

When the people of Union begin to stir early one spring morning, they will awaken to discover a cheerful city, indeed. All of Union, overnight, has become covered with vines and shrubs and flowers - plant life, everywhere the eye could see. Though the majority haven't yet begun to flower, the rainbow assortment of buds promises a lovely sight to come in the near future. A few citizens, annoyed, set to work removing the intrusive flora from their properties, but the majority simply take the unusual sight for what it is.

And for the particularly observant, dotted here and there among the landscape, the occasional large pink blossom can be spotted already in full bloom...

[That's not normal, right? It's not. Plants don't grow THAT quickly.

He'd been planning to go out for a bit and get some field work in since he'd been sort of falling behind lately... but it seems like the field's come to HIM instead. That's, uh, bizarre.

Spur seems to be attracted to one of the blossoms.]

[Cress's Charmander, Flamberge, is with him today along with his other two Pokemon, a Honedge and Magickarp. The human entertaining his fish with some water in the towns detective fountain.]

Char~ [The lizard comes up to Takuro, fetching bows around her neck.]

Hum..? [He looks over his shoulder to see Flamberge interacting with the flowers and what seems to be another Pokemon, he'll investigate now that Vorpal's in water.] Oh, hello.

[Looks like the Pokemon came with a bonder attached. His Charmander goes between Cress's legs, the Honedge glaring it's usual intimidation.]

[Plants are all well and good, but plants that quickly, growing over the windows, and now the water and rock Pokemon in the Habitat Center are freaking out. Needless to say, Ran's got her hands full.]

[Dylas was turning around, staring at the large blossoms creeping over everything, and almost ran into Ran as she was helping out, barely springing away to avoid crashing into her]

[With a family member working in the Habitat Centre, and also simply just being a trainer who put as much use into the Centre as any other trainer did, after being awed by the sight of the growth like many others Blue went to see how the area was doing. And, seeing the distress...]

Hello! Are you staff? [Upon spotting Ran, she calls out, approaching her-] Do you need any help?

[Someone bearing a preening but still slightly nervous Tranquill on her arm arrives at the Habitat in the middle of Ran's busy day.]

Huh, I didn't realize the plants were doing this in here, too...

[There is one shiny blue Nidoking who has not taken well to the new environment, and has been spending most of the morning clawing at the plant life around his trainer's home. Said trainer is following behind him, trying to dissuade him from tearing up any more of the flowers than necessary.]

Thank you for clearing the pathway, but you don't have to go quite so far. They aren't really doing any harm as long as they aren't in the way. [This is not an acceptable reason, apparently, and the Nidoking continues trying to clear them away.]

[Atsuro has been sleeping in for the most of the morning (yet another night of reading mixed with fiddling with some of his latest ideas for a new warp band), and when he finally drags himself out he finds... a sea of flowers and Nidoking ploughing through it? He blinks several times-- and then notices Mari and calls out]

Miss Mari, did I miss something?

[this...is weird. Not unpleasant, no, but Michiru is certainly wary. So she's going to go take a walk around town to survey the extent of the 'damages,' so to speak.

Her Budew, however, seems to be having the time of her life. The little thing is invariably several feet ahead of her trainer, running off to peer at that shrub and sniff at that bud. She always winds up back at Michiru's ankles, chirping her enthusiasm and relaying everything she's seen and heard and wondering why her trainer is walking so slowly.]

[ Eventually, down the road, Michiru should see Usagi standing underneath a whole bunch of plants that have at least managed to make its own natural trellis archway. Her eyes are wide with excitement as she practically almost dances. ]

Pinky, this is amazing! Look at all the plants and flowers everywhere!

[ But, Pinky isn't on her usual perch ontop of Usagi's head. Where is she?

From atop the gathering of vines, Pinky the Cleffa has taken it upon herself to do some climbing so she can sit down and enjoy the view. ]

[ At one point, the Budew returns not on her own two feet but in the center of a bundle of flowers being carried by Haruka (assuming Budew will let Haruka pick her up). What can she say? Their paths crossed. ]

[It's pretty weird for plants to grow that fast, but Gladiolus the Oddish is as happy as it can be, jumping in circles all over the place, playing with vines and singing happily. None of his other housemates are as happy as him though, specially the fire guys.

Ace is just carefully walking after his Oddish, careful not to touch any of the vegetation for too long in case he burns it. This is an uncomfortable situation for him.

Gladiolus stops by a beautiful pink blossom and starts smelling it, causing Ace to get close and look at it]

[Well, you didn't actually ask him, but since when is Atsuro concerned with whether he was asked or not before providing info.

Hi, Ace! Out on a walk? I see you're getting on well with your Oddish again! Did you ever find out why he was being weird around you?

[ Melaka is following her Oddish around too, but her Oddish... has a lot of moss which she has deliberately grown on her leaves, causing them to droop a little. But she's also going way out of her way to talk the ear off of any pokemon which'll listen about the Legion of the Moss Rock, dedicated to the defense of the sacred Moss Rock.

Which apparently includes Ace's Oddish, though Melaka is just giving up on trying to stop Willow at this point ]

[Kairi wakes up to find flowers everywhere, and she's absolutely delighted. Within a couple hours, she's managed to throw together a little picnic. Sandwiches and lemonade have been set out on a big blanket, out of the way of foot traffic.

It's still a little brisk, but Kairi's nothing if not used to chill breezes. She's wearing a lightly-patterned yellow sundress and sandals as she relaxes beside her snoozing Clefairy, a book on Pokemon breeding propped open in her lap.

Gotta make the best of a bad situation, right?]

[It's not really a bad situation right now. The weirs and sudden overgrowth is something to question, but no one's getting hurt right?

Flowers aren't really his thing, but he has recently acquired a grass type and really, the change in scenery is very welcome with how cold its been. Good day and time to take the partners out for a walk.

There's no work today, and everyone enjoys the flowers. Mickey frequently runs ahead to check out the vines with Clara the Skiddo trotting on after. Mim the Misdreavus is taking it easier, swooping around Riku and occasionally pulling a flower out and sticking it in his hair.

Which he's not really enjoying and removes it promptly, causing massive amounts of pouting, defiant huffs and another attempt to make him charming with another flower in his hair. It's all fun and games to Mim, but when Riku stops dead in his tracks at the sight of some red head having a picnic, she's a little worried.

Mickey notices first out of the two, causing Clara to look and only snort. Less than a week here and humans are still a mystery to her. The Houndour follows Riku?s line of sight, and upon seeing the girl there with her Pokemon, he trots over to her with a friendly bark.

Riku's got half a mind to call out to him, to get Mickey to come back. But he's a little frozen now. He's known that Kairi's been in the city and that she should be okay, but seeing her makes him feel... just too ashamed to say anything immediately.]

[And there to join you will be another Clefairy, oh my. She doesn't intend to be noticed as she makes her way onto the blanket, attracted by the food and looking to pick up a sarnie..!

Don't mind her. Nope. It's not like she's even here! (Though, if at all noticeable, there is something very un-fairy like about her. Maybe it's a feeling.)]

[Kanji's been up early a lot this past week, trying to grab whatever training time he can for once. As he heads out into the fresh air, then, he spots the scattered flora early: and damn. That's - that's beautiful!
...Okay, he can spare a little while to do a quick sketch of the scene, can't he? So he's found himself a comfy spot, and is scribbling away, his Pokémon crowding round to try and see what their friend's up to.]

[When a kid comes by and stops to examine the plants that Kanji's drawing, blocking his view in the process, it's likely not much more than a mild inconvenience. After all, other people have probably done the same thing and moved on soon after.

The real problem shows itself when the kid gently handles the single fully-opened blossom in the entire scene - which is in a very well-positioned and artistic location that Kanji hasn't finished drawing - and pulls out a pair of pruning shears.]

[As long as the door to her house was cleared from vines binding it shut, then she is alright with this floral invasion. It's like the natural outside world finally came inside the city.

The weather is nice along with the scenery in the Residential District and Quinn is just relaxing off to the side, watching people and Pokémon either enjoying the flowers or trying to get them out of the way. Since today is so nice outside the city, she thought it would be a good idea to bring her team out to enjoy the air with her.

It's... quite a large team sitting around with her. Smaller ones playing around with the flowers while the bigger/older ones just watch.]

[Flynn couldn't help but stare at the sight of greenery practically overtaking the city as he walked to the wall with a Mawile(Titania)following him. It was strange and was there a plant that grew at such a rate like these did? But with his attention diverted elsewhere, he ended up bumping his left side into a vine-covered post.]

Aah...

Continuing the trend of Flynn running into lost Pokemon (at least this one has a trainer)

[There's a small squeak from the post - and if Flynn (or Titania) looks down, he'll notice... well, it looks like more plants, but it is, in fact, a Budew. It seems to have been startled by Flynn bumping into the post, near which it was resting - but now it's looking up with innocent curiosity. It gives an inquiring chirp, which basically substitutes a "Hello?"]

[ ...Well, this is sudden. And sudden means disturbing. But is it an omen or something unrelated to the disaster Haruka can sense is coming? She doesn't feel anything particularly ominous in the air...

Either way, she'd better check this out. What's the source?

Haruka may be so involved in following vines, Sewaddle in tow on her back, that she isn't watching where she's walking. ]

[What was with all this plant life anyway? Everything's going wild, and it's driving her allergies through the roof! Ugh ugh ugh this is terrible she can't breathe her head feels like it wants to explode and Minako hates. Every. Minute. Of. It. ugh ugh ugh.

The one indicator that Haruka might get that she's going to collide with the blond is the giant sniffle before the storm.]

[FLOWERS! Flowers flowers flowers!

Yes, a certain Floette is having the time of her life, flying around and hiding in big graidea flowers and giggling the entire time.

Scraggy is looking a little more wary, but ever since his Big Sis Floette made him a flower crown he's been shyly happy, the scraggy equivalent of ":3" on his face.

Shroomish is nowhere to be found (probably hiding in some plant growth to trip you if he doesn't like you), and as for Trapinch, well. There's a conspicuous hole in the ground not far from Kaido's feet. Someone doesn't want to deal with so much plant life.

Speaking of Kaido, he's sitting outside in the shade of some vines, still wearing his scarf]

[ Wow, wasn't this a sight to take in? Many people seemed to think so, and Blue was amongst them in observing the one night one complete overgrow result of nature (though likely with the added help of a pokémon, surely).

Blue mainly took in the sight, trying to find some reason or source for it by wandering around inside and outside the Union, particularly on the outside trying to find if there were roots that at least the vines or some shrubbery had emerged from the ground.

But she was happy too to just look and admire. It wasn't everyday this happened after all, and who knew when it would go or become ruined by people disgruntled at its intrusion? Though she was willing as well to lend a hand to those who needed to clear some for whatever reason.

For anybody who wanted to approach her, she could be easily spotted around the Union with her nidorino and houndoom, or some other combination of your choice (though with the zorua always being one of the other pokémon, except perhaps for those with more analytical eyes. ]

[Rise, being mostly allergy-free, is enjoying the sights and walking the Chikorita she Bonded last week. She figured that Nadeshiko would be very happy with the other plant life, and she was right, watching the small leafy Pokémon happily nuzzling the vines.]

I'm glad you're enjoying it and all, but there's definitely something weird here...
