After an unusually long and cold winter, the land is finally beginning to stir in the anticipation of spring. In the forest, the first flowers are beginning to peek out of the ground, the hum of Bug Pokémon begin to be heard, and of course, the first wisps of pollen begin to incite misery amongst the more sensitive of the population. The sun sets later and later each night, and at the end of a long workday, the prospect of escaping early to enjoy a stroll out in the brisk spring air becomes more and more enticing.

The pall cast by Team Evolution has long faded into little more than a distant cloud on the horizon. Though the mystery of 'Mega Evolution' remains unsolved, it seems inconsequential in the face of the strength that Union itself is gaining. All damage from the earthquakes has finally been fully repaired, production of iron and steel has been greatly enhanced by the discovery of the mine, there were plans to build a new port and to enhance the range of the Signal Tower, Enlightened and Pokémon everywhere were evolving one after another... On the whole, morale was high.

The city takes it upon itself to reflect this.

When the people of Union begin to stir early one spring morning, they will awaken to discover a cheerful city, indeed. All of Union, overnight, has become covered with vines and shrubs and flowers - plant life, everywhere the eye could see. Though the majority haven't yet begun to flower, the rainbow assortment of buds promises a lovely sight to come in the near future. A few citizens, annoyed, set to work removing the intrusive flora from their properties, but the majority simply take the unusual sight for what it is.

And for the particularly observant, dotted here and there among the landscape, the occasional large pink blossom can be spotted already in full bloom...

[Suddenly there's a pokemon equivalent of and amirative "ooooooooh" from behind your shoulder.

Kaido's Floette was coming to say hi since she spotted you, but she got distracted by your pretty drawing]

[He nearly drops his pencil in surprise, but looks over his shoulder to see-]

Yeah, guess you would like this stuff, huh?

[Enthusiastic nod! It's sooo pretty. Kanji you're great at drawing!

She'll try to communicate that by clapping]

[Heh, shucks. He laughs slightly.]

This? It's just a sketch. Ain't that good.

[No no it's good! She's shaking her head.

Believe in your pretty, Kanji >: ]

What're you tryin' to say?

[Scribble, scribble...]

[She'll point to the drawing, then release a small shower of sparkles into the air. It's preeeeetty!]

[Sorry, he's not the sharpest... but aww! Dammit, he doesn't need to be Fighting-type to be weak to that little sparkle show.]

I ... guess that's a good thing?

[Insistent nodding and a big smile. She really likes it]

[Going a spot red, here-]

Aw, thanks.

... do you mind if she sits on your shoulder to watch you draw?]

[Well, he's not making any motions to shoo her off... the other Pokémon are crowding round a little. Hey, visitor.]

[Hello hello! Does he always draw like this? She never knew!]

Flaa-? Flaaffy!

Dou, dour. Houndour.

[Translated: "Absolutely! He does all kinds of things."

"Wish he'd make me something cute. Keeps saying he's going to."]

[You're lucky to live with someone this talented though! The only thing Kaido's talented at is battle.

[Kanji's smiling a spot awkwardly at his own Pokémons' contributions, what he's getting of them. Aw, heck, guys...

[Well, true, and he's a good friend!

And speaking of Kaido. Guess who's coming your way, followed by his Shroomish, and his flower-crowned Scraggy]

["That's the important bit!"

It takes Kanji a bit to notice Kaido arriving, but he gives a wave as he does so. Hey, man.]

Hey Kanji. What're you up to?

[His voice is still kind of hoarse and awkward but at least it's not going all over the place anymore]

[There's a relief!]

Me? Just takin' a breather from trainin'... been doin' a few sketches of these flowers. 'Cause, man. You ever seen anything like this?

Yeah I was kind of creeped out at first but it doesn't seem to be dangerous... it's pretty nice.

[Floette points at Kanji's drawing and chirps. Look, Kaido, it's so pretty!]

Yeah... it's weird that this stuff came outta nowhere, sure, but until it does somethin' that ain't sitting around looking pretty? I ain't gonna worry.

Point. [Nodding towards your picture] Mind if I take a look?
