After an unusually long and cold winter, the land is finally beginning to stir in the anticipation of spring. In the forest, the first flowers are beginning to peek out of the ground, the hum of Bug Pokémon begin to be heard, and of course, the first wisps of pollen begin to incite misery amongst the more sensitive of the population. The sun sets later and later each night, and at the end of a long workday, the prospect of escaping early to enjoy a stroll out in the brisk spring air becomes more and more enticing.

The pall cast by Team Evolution has long faded into little more than a distant cloud on the horizon. Though the mystery of 'Mega Evolution' remains unsolved, it seems inconsequential in the face of the strength that Union itself is gaining. All damage from the earthquakes has finally been fully repaired, production of iron and steel has been greatly enhanced by the discovery of the mine, there were plans to build a new port and to enhance the range of the Signal Tower, Enlightened and Pokémon everywhere were evolving one after another... On the whole, morale was high.

The city takes it upon itself to reflect this.

When the people of Union begin to stir early one spring morning, they will awaken to discover a cheerful city, indeed. All of Union, overnight, has become covered with vines and shrubs and flowers - plant life, everywhere the eye could see. Though the majority haven't yet begun to flower, the rainbow assortment of buds promises a lovely sight to come in the near future. A few citizens, annoyed, set to work removing the intrusive flora from their properties, but the majority simply take the unusual sight for what it is.

And for the particularly observant, dotted here and there among the landscape, the occasional large pink blossom can be spotted already in full bloom...

[Well, you didn't actually ask him, but since when is Atsuro concerned with whether he was asked or not before providing info.

He gives a small wave.]

Hi, Ace! Out on a walk? I see you're getting on well with your Oddish again! Did you ever find out why he was being weird around you?

[Ace turns around at the words, a bit surprised he didn't see or feel Atsuro approach him]

Thanks, I never saw it before and it seems really pretty

[Gladiolus nods, getting around the flower and smelling the leafs]

Yup, we were out trying to figure out what's going on. [He grimaces] He just didn't like being at my house. Apparently it stinks of fire and burnt things in there. Had to open all windows and clean everything before Gladiolus would get close to me, only to shower me with stun spores. [He pouts now] only after he and the others laughed at me did we get along

[... Sorry Ace, he ends up laughing at that last part]

Bit of a troublemaker, is he? I'm glad you figured out what was wrong in the end, though.

[He comes a bit closer to Gladiolus and crouches down next to him. And from behind his back a Budew peeks at Gladiolus and gives a chirp in greeting. Fellow Grass type!]

Yeah, he really is. He likes to play pranks on me all the time now though

[Gladiolus just puffs his chest up in pride, hell yeah he's the only one who can win against Ace. And then he sees the Budew and wow a grass type! it's been so long, hello, I'm Gladiolus!]

[Atsuro laughs fondly]

I'm sure that means he likes you! My Togepi used a bit like that, too. She'd always act cold towards me, but she's always helped me when it counts.

[Nice to meet you, Gladiolus! Budew is really impressed you can win against someone as big and dangerous-looking as Ace, so he stares with a "ooooh" expression.]

[Ace looks at the oddish and smiles]

I hope it does, I don't feel like suffering many more pranks really, I just hope not to burn him by accident, he tends to hide a lot

[Gladiolus is smiling widely, oh yeah, I'm amazing, Ace is terrified of me, I'm the best of them all really]

Oh? Do you burn things by accident often? Sorry, I don't know much about what it's like for Fire types... I'm Electric, and I end up storing too much electricity sometimes, and then release it accidentally. Almost fried my warp band like that once.

[Budew is super impressed! It looks like Gladiolus has a fan now. Can you show Budew something cool, Gladiolus? Pretty please?]

I tend to burn through my clothes sometimes, that's why I don't like wearing shirts. Frying things sounds like a pain though [he laughs now] we could make a great cooking team

[Gladiolus is in heaven, he loves the attention, and he wants to show Budew something cool, but what? OH YEAH! His favourite trick, let's make Ace trip! So he gets his vines out slowly and locks them around Ace's ankles, "my human doesn't even notice, look!" he starts moving the vines higher and higher, almost to the end of Ace's shorts]

[Atsuro laughs at the idea]

Are you sure we wouldn't end up burning everything to a crisp? Maybe we could be an example of how not to cook!

[Budew watches in amazement. Wow, your human really is absent-minded!]

[Ace scratches his nape, smiling at you]

yup, we totally will, and it'd be amazing

[He's a moron, seriously, I don't even know how all the other guys he's bonded with like him so much. Gladiolus just puts the vines high enough to go around the shorts' waist, curling around the belt buckles, and pulls.

Ace gasps and goes on to hold his pants before they fall]

Hey! What are you doing?!

Aah!

[Atsuro just yelps loudly at that and turns away immediately. He has some Views about this kind of thing]

I-I didn't see anything!

[Budew, meanwhile, is completely oblivious to the implications of Gladiolus's prank, but laughs happily and claps his vines. Ace didn't notice it until it was too late!]

[Ace blushes, that was rude Gladiolus!

...it's ok

[He fixes his pants and untangles the vines from his lefts, the Oddish just retracts them and smiles up, with an innocent smile and points at the Budew. Ace sighs, still blushing]

I should try to teach him when things aren't appropriate

[Gladiolus smiles and vows, glad to have had amused the other pokemon. "See? He's a bit careless so pranking him is easy"]
