After an unusually long and cold winter, the land is finally beginning to stir in the anticipation of spring. In the forest, the first flowers are beginning to peek out of the ground, the hum of Bug Pokémon begin to be heard, and of course, the first wisps of pollen begin to incite misery amongst the more sensitive of the population. The sun sets later and later each night, and at the end of a long workday, the prospect of escaping early to enjoy a stroll out in the brisk spring air becomes more and more enticing.

The pall cast by Team Evolution has long faded into little more than a distant cloud on the horizon. Though the mystery of 'Mega Evolution' remains unsolved, it seems inconsequential in the face of the strength that Union itself is gaining. All damage from the earthquakes has finally been fully repaired, production of iron and steel has been greatly enhanced by the discovery of the mine, there were plans to build a new port and to enhance the range of the Signal Tower, Enlightened and Pokémon everywhere were evolving one after another... On the whole, morale was high.

The city takes it upon itself to reflect this.

When the people of Union begin to stir early one spring morning, they will awaken to discover a cheerful city, indeed. All of Union, overnight, has become covered with vines and shrubs and flowers - plant life, everywhere the eye could see. Though the majority haven't yet begun to flower, the rainbow assortment of buds promises a lovely sight to come in the near future. A few citizens, annoyed, set to work removing the intrusive flora from their properties, but the majority simply take the unusual sight for what it is.

And for the particularly observant, dotted here and there among the landscape, the occasional large pink blossom can be spotted already in full bloom...

Hmm. What is it going to be for you then? Discovering a new pokémon? A new evolution?

-- Um.

Yes, actually. [ He lifts a shoulder in an awkward sort of shrug. ] I... want to study evolution. There's a lot we don't know.

That would be useful - pokémon evolve in different ways... like nidorino needing stones, and then some stones working on eevees. [ She only looks briefly to the pokémon with them, but keeps her head forward. She hums. ]

Some of the new pokémon they found seem to be evolutions of eevee. You should check the network some time and see a few of the posts. Maybe you could still speak to them about what they saw.

Exactly. [ He makes a sour face at the prospect of actually talking to people, though. Independent research is so much better, Blue. ] I'll... see about that.

[ Don't be a boooore. But she knows by the sound of that answer he might not really 'see about that'. Stillll. ]

It couldn't hurt. People tend to be nice more than not.

They're people. [ He scoffs a little, shaking his head. ] I don't do people.

They can't infect you over the network, you know. [ She gets close to his arm for a moment, touching it playfully, like getting close to him will give him cooties. ]

Don't be stupid. [ Sure, his tone is snarky, but he does jerk his arm away when she touches, giving her a glare. ]

[ She backs away then, her arms by her sides until she moves them behind herself. Her eyes keep forward, and the smile on her face is small. ]

I'm not. I just think it could be useful. [ She gives a light shrug. ] If you use text, it can be impersonal. Think more about what it can give you.

[ She eyes her pokémon. ] ... but you said you'll see about it, so that's that.

[ Okay, so she's... kinda right. Whatever. ] I'll think about it. [ And maybe that answer is kind of a 'yes'. Whatever. ] Only if they have interesting pokémon.

It doesn't take too long to go through the warp band and find out if they do. People usually show a pokémon they haven't seen around the Union before.

Yeah, yeah, I get it.

... and I guess it'd be interesting to see new evolutions of eevee. [ It's admitted grudgingly, but hey, that's better than nothing. Right? ]

[ nod! Good boy, Green. ]

My friend's eevee evolved into a sylveon. Do you know much about them?

Eevees or sylveons? [ He asks, raising an eyebrow. ] I'd like to think I know about eevees, but their evolutionary habits are... bizarre. And I've never seen a sylveon before.

A sylveon, of course! [ anwyway. ] Sylveon are... pink and white, with long flowing parts they can control at will. They seem to be a fairy type? I think they're a fairy type.

[ She pauses. ] But I'm not sure what caused him to evolve... he doesn't train much - my friend, Roxas. He said he got taken out to the Scorched Forest as punishment, and then his eevee... evolved.

Unexpectedly? [ Green's already pulling out his notebook, wishing he had brought along his glasses. ] Without any kind of warning?

Not as far as I know... [ hm. ] I could ask him more about it if you'd like.

Okay. Do that. [ He's so polite. ] Perhaps eevee evolves based on location?

But turning into a fairy type in the Scorched Forest? A flareon would make more sense.

It's not like the fairy type has any ties to an element expressed in nature. [ Huff huff. ] There might be something else about the location that triggered the evolution.

I won't say it's not worth looking around - but if there was anything about the location that brought on a fairy-type evolution, wouldn't more fairy-types be drawn to the area and not mostly fire? You would still expect that.

[ He thinks about it for a few more moments, then shakes his head. ] It requires more investigation, to state it simply.

That should... happen, at some point. [ Not that he's inviting her along, but... ]

[ Not that it sounds much of an invitation, either. ]

If people keep discovering new locations, you're going to have a full plate investigating everywhere. [ ... ] I would offer to help, but could I?

[ Less about if he wants her to and more that she simply doesn't know if she could. ]

[ He looks her up and down, then offers- ] If you would be serious about it and take detailed notes.

[ ...ohhh? What's this? ]

Sure. About the pokémon I see and the locations they gather in?
