The vast wilderness beckons! Beginning January 25th, 2014, all wild Pokémon threads that aren't incorporated as part of another post should go here. You are still welcome to include a section for bonding with wild Pokémon as a part of another entry or a log, but we encourage isolated wild Pokémon threads to go here to prevent flooding of the main comm with entries specifically geared to only cover wild Pokémon threads.

[It's a nice day to go sunbathing, at least. The spring air hasn't warmed up yet to be uncomfortable and the gentle sun is mild enough that a burn is only likely with a few hours of exposure.

Hopefully Kaido will land something sooner than that.

What does he have as bait?]

[Considering he's a beginner? At least as the day went by he went from a simple lure to worms. And pricked his fingers a couple of times (hey, no one taught him how to fish)]

[Hmm... Does he really want to stick to such conventional fare? Ocean Pokemon have a lot of other options besides worms, you know. Fallen berries from trees near the coast are popular - the Finneon are particularly attracted to sweets. There's also always seaweed and kelp, of course, for those Pokemon who prefer their meals less liable to escape.]

[He does for a while, and was starting to get frustrated, so Floette's the one to gather some seaweed and bring it over.

That'll move with the current, right? Maybe it'll draw some pokemon's attention.

... well, he's got nothing to lose (aside from more of his time). He'll try it]

[It really might be helpful to try some berries, too!

Kaido will be offered some by the pinkish rock behind him that has grown a face and now smiles on him cheerfully. Good luck fishing!

[Yeah thank--

--wait what?

He's staring now, who are you]

[A wild Corsola has appeared!

It stares back at Kaido as he stares, blinking its eyes innocently.

Not that he could understand its internal monologue, but he had seemed like he was bored of fishing up nothing, so it thought it should try and help! It had seen his hook bobbing about earlier and surreptitiously emerged from the ocean a little ways away to come around and see what he was doing.]

[He--thanks--huuuuh hold on. You obviously already have berries so... he's taking out a treat from his bag to thank you.

Putting it down lik a foot away so you don't have to eat from his hand or something]

[Corsola blinks for a moment or two before bouncing forward to try it. It smells like food, so... bottoms-up!

...

Or you know what just hang these on the end of your hook.

Corsola's eyes sparkle a bit unnaturally as it finishes consuming the treat.]

[Floette nudges him a bit... oh--right.

He's going to activate his warp band. Might as well try. At least he can thank it properly]

[Corsola doesn't immediately realize that anything has changed apart from the beam of light, so it simply backs away a bit. When the beam of light fails to incinerate it, it will blink slightly.]

Er-- hi. Thanks for earlier.

[Through the warp band, Corsola will get his gratefulness (he really was frustrated) as well as curiosity. Curiosity about it, definitely, but also about the sea--he's been wanting to explore it, and finding someone to do it with is why he was here in the first place

Floette chirps in a salutation of her own, while the others just watch]

[This was new! He must be some sort of Psychic!

Corsola has never seen someone like him before but it's heard stories about the large two-legged creatures above ground - it lives in the ocean, but unlike a lot of its fellow sea-dwellers, it has the luxury of going on land, too. It's exciting to finally meet one!

It doesn't know if Kaido will be able to really explore the ocean that well, though. It's like the opposite problem from its friends - he'd have to learn how to breathe a different way.

Floette will get a note of admiration about her pretty flower.]

[Well, there's always exploring the surface of the ocean. And he can hold his breath for a while, though he obviously won't be able to go to the ocean floor ~~at least until someone discovers the Dive HM~~. But a friend of his recently went exploring and discovered an island... he wants to do stuff like that.

Adventuring in a place that isn't ruins, for once. He's kind of emotionally drained of ruins.

Floette is flattered and giggles, before moving closer to show it off. Look! It's red and pretty and she takes very good care of it, so its petals look soft and shiny]

[Corsola trundles a bit closer to the flower to properly admire it - and give it a light sniff, too. Flowers are something that don't grow under the ocean, so it's always been extra special to see them! She must be really proud of it.

Well... If he just wants to swim around, it can help with that! It's a really good swimmer.]

[She is! She's had it since she was a Flabébé! Also right now in the city there's toooons of flowers, you should totally come see.

... and that's when Kaido offers... would you want to come along in general? He can show you a lot more of the world above the ground, and you can teach him how to swim better--he sort of can, but nothing big]

[Hmm....

Corsola has to think about this for a moment or two. It would be nice to see more of the world above water level! It would have explored around earlier, but it really shouldn't stay out of the water too too long - and it was hard to move very quickly on land, too.

Is there somewhere with saltwater it can stay in his home?]

[Not in his home directly... but he can probably arrange something if you want. And the pokemon habitat tower should have all you need too.

Also, with the warp band, you can be teleported across large distances without having to do all the trip yourself! Floette chirps in]

[Well... He seems like a nice person! So it will take him at his word. Corsola beams - it looks like he succeeded in fishing after all, in a way!

It's OK to come back for a swim in the ocean sometime, though, right?

Corsola is Level 8! The rest of its stats are up to you!]

[Of course, that was kind of the point. They can go swim together, especially now the weather's warmed up]
