The vast wilderness beckons! Beginning January 25th, 2014, all wild Pokémon threads that aren't incorporated as part of another post should go here. You are still welcome to include a section for bonding with wild Pokémon as a part of another entry or a log, but we encourage isolated wild Pokémon threads to go here to prevent flooding of the main comm with entries specifically geared to only cover wild Pokémon threads.

Please respond to the correct Week if possible for organizational purposes.

[He probably wasn't the only one coming through here. After all, some magical rock that facilities evolution was bound to attract both trainers and researchers. At least, that's his guess.

It's mostly why he's here too. He's never explored much of the forest beyond the shrines so far, but it seemed kind of strange that a giant boulder would be the subject of fascination. Sure it helped with evolution, but how is it any different from any other rock?]

Man, I hope this is worth it. [Coming up to the clearing where the rock was, Mickey trots by his side, enjoying the fresh area of the forest while his Hoothoot, Highwind, rests quietly on his shoulder. Hopefully nothing too powerful will pop out.]

[Riku should hardly expect that he can just walk up to the rock and wait for a Pokemon to pop out. They're highly secretive creatures, after all, prone to distrust and dislike of humans. It will take careful planning, many hours of work, and an open heart filled with friendship and love to take on the highly complicated task of --

While Riku contemplates the boulder, he is headbutted sharply from behind.]

[Hey, anything could happen out here.

Like that. He stumbles forward before catching himself, Highwind having launched into the air from his shoulder and Mickey jumping equally as far from the surprise attack. He's trying to put on a brave face and worry about Riku less, barking at the intruder. Who gives you the right to headbutt people?!]

What gives...? [It's a recently discovered area, so of course some might be protective of it, but still.]

[A wild Skiddo has appeared! The young goat-like creature paws at the ground before lowering its head to Tackle again!]

[darkbreak]

[Tackle? More like jabbing its horns into Riku's soft flesh!

He's rather taken aback by this... feisty little moss goat, but he has no clue what to do. If it wants a fight, it'll get one if it comes to that, but even Riku's not keen on resorting to that.

Still he has no clue what to do. He could run, but by all means, he hasn't done anything wrong and its just a little goat! The others might laugh at him if they found out. So instead he looks to Mickey as Highwind perches on his shoulder again.] Can... can you try to talk to it?

[Mickey almost immediately stops growling to look at Riku, and then proceeds to bark at Skiddo. It's nothing threatening, just them wanting to know why it attacked his friend.]

[Friend schmiend. The Skiddo huffs indignantly as it continues to try and push Riku away. Everything was fine in this area of the woods until things like this showed up. Now the Leafeon were gone, the humans keep traipsing in like tourists, and the Pokemon couldn't even come to their favorite place anymore.

It has half a mind to show up randomly in a human home and just trot around trampling and breaking things.]

[Err... Well then.

No key's time in the wild hasn't been super long, but he could understand where the Skiddo was coming from with how his ears went back. He can relate. He really can! His only home in so far has been with Riku and the city and he wouldn't feel too good if someone made an attraction out of that. Highwind though, only sighs boredly at Riku's shoulder. This mutt's a little too loyal to their trainer.

Riku, however, is clueless. Mickey seems to have stopped it from charging at him for the time being, but what's that whining about? Really, Mickey? He probably makes the mistake of stepping in a little closer, the annoyance at being headbutted obvious on his face, but what's going on? Why is it pushing him away?]

What are you doing? All we want is just a look.

[Mickey will get some more indignant sniffs, but Skiddo seems slightly pacified by the sympathy, at least.

What do they even want around here, anyway? They're not going to start carving little bits out of the Rock, are they?

As Riku steps closer, he'll have the pleasure of getting a few more horns shining in his face.]

[Mickey almost balks at the thought. A fire type he might be and... well, he'll be honest he has no clue why Riku wanted to come here, but they wouldn't dream of damaging the area! Just to explore.

He's not too terribly intimidated by the horns, but when it comes closer, he actually reaches up to grab a hold of them so that's harder to knock him over.]

Will you stop trying to skewer me?

[Unfortunately for Skiddo, level six Skiddo only really know Tackle and Growth. Grabbing onto the horns will result in the goat desperately twisting back and forth to get loose, though.

It might cheat and kick Riku in the shins.

Tell your human to stop being a butt! is the message it sends Mickey.]

[Ugh. Well he does take some hooves to the shins, and it does hurt, but he'll be standing his ground and not letting go just yet.

Mickey gets the message and looks rather harried by it. Riku doesn't mean to hurt anyone! But Skiddo doesn't really want to either (at least Mickey hopes it doesn't). He panics a bit before running over to Riku's side and gently tugging him away from Skiddo by his pant leg.

Which gets his message across. Riku doesn't let go yet, but looks down at Mickey while keeping a firm grip.]

Only if it stops and lets me try to talk to it.

[Skiddo snorts a little at that. It's not like Riku could actually understand it, anyway. It will continue twisting back and forth, though its efforts are beginning to wane.]

[darkbreak]

[And that snort gets a glare out of Riku in return. No, he was no Kindred Soul, but he knows that there's a function on the bands that enables him to connect with Pokémon. Not that he's ever used it before, but there's a first time for everything.

As the Skiddo becomes more exhausted, Riku lets up on the pressure he applies on its horns. Once it seems tired enough, he'll let go with one hand and activate the function on the Warp Band.]

Relax, okay? I'm not going to hurt anything or you.

[He couldn't if he tried!! Skiddo was the mighty defender of the forest!

Well this area of the forest anyway. ...About ten square feet, really. The goat tosses its head with an expression of confidence.]

[...Cute. It's pretty adorable how confident it is, and Riku's smile is a bit bittersweet at that. He finally takes his other hand off its horn, freeing the goat.]

Pretty strong, huh? And this is your favourite place to be?

[Mickey nods his head in confirmation, but Riku would like it more from the Skiddo itself.]

[..............Wait he could understand it. Skiddo squints in suspicion for a few moments before making a tentative nodding motion.]

[He chuckles softly before pointing out his Warp Band.] It's this. It lets me understand you better. Not sure how it works exactly myself, though.

[It sniffs at the Warp Band for a moment or two before deciding that it was probably Psychic witchcraft and its mother had been right about interactions with strange Types.

Anyway. He was trespassing in its home.]

[Strange... Types...

Riku's not a Psychic at least, so he doesn't take immediate offence, but he does look a bit awkward at that. He's kind of a strange one himself with his Dark typing.] Right. It is a bit odd.

[Hmm, home.] Sorry about that. We... didn't really mean to, but this place was discovered by humans recently, and so we wanted to explore.

[Mickey comes up by his side and sits with a nod. Hopefully that might ease up some tensions between the goat and the boy.]

[Skiddo looks slightly unimpressed. 'Discovered'? Just because they wandered in here recently doesn't mean it hasn't been known about for years and years.

What was he looking for?]

Well, do you know what's in the city? [It's not sarcasm. He just wants to prove a point with this.] If you don't, you would have discovered some new things, even though they've been there for a long while.

[What was he looking for? He looks at Mickey, who probably would have shrugged if he had shoulders. It's something Riku has to think about, and how much info to give away.]

...Something new. And some strong Pokemon too. [Not the best answer, but it'll do.]

Skiddo will begrudgingly allow that there are humans there and stone piled up in rectangles. It had never been too terribly interested in going into human territory otherwise.

It supposes if he wants to see something new, the Rock would satisfy. And obviously he's already seen a strong Pokemon.]

[Ah, but it's like the same thing isn't it? At least it can admit that, and that makes him nod.

Ahaha, this confidence thing is really cute. It kind of... reminds him of when he was younger and over confident and that stings a little bit, but he figures so long as Skiddo doesn't make as many (or as big) mistakes as he has, it should be okay.]

Strong and different. I don't think anyone's seen a Pokemon like you before.

[Probably because they only really lived in this area near the Rock. Which is why it's important to keep it safe for them.

[Keeping it safe, huh? He can understand that.]

Then I don't think you'll have much to worry about. [Riku reaches out and hovers his hand above its head. Maybe Skiddo will let him per it?] Unless there's more to see than just the rock, I won't come back.

[There's a slight whine of protest from Mickey. He likes this area!]
