Now that things've settled down, I've got a few announcements.

First off, the port and the ship are both finished. I'm not ready to take on passengers just yet though, which brings me to my second announcement:

I'm looking to hire a few people to help me get the ship out of the drydock; I'm short a couple pairs of hands for that. After that I'll need help loading stone onto the ship.

Third, I need people to help build the pier on the island. You'll be some of the first to get to ride on the ship when I take the stone over. You might wanna bring supplies with you or set 'em up to be warped over; it'll take more than a day to build the pier. There's five beds free on the ship, but if there's a lot of people coming or you wanna sleep on shore instead you should bring stuff for that, too.

Finally, I'm looking for anyone who can show Multi Telekinesis, Heal Pulse, Heal Bell, Aromatherapy, Flash, or Cut. I'll pay you for your time.

If you're gonna help with the launch, I'll need you at the port before 10 AM tomorrow so we can catch the high tide. I'd like to leave for the island the day after tomorrow if we can. The sooner the pier on the island's finished, the sooner the ship'll be available for rides and exploration.

Banzu out.

[ Hotaru's finally trusted enough to head out on her own! ...More or less. She did have a chaperone, but whatever. She and her Litwick, Celosia, are making a day of it.

For the most part, Hotaru's keeping to her Pokémon form, that of an Absol. She still doesn't feel comfortable around large groups of people, or dealing with people, and generally people were less likely to talk to her if she was shifted. Or at least less likely to expect an answer.

So most people would be running into the ragtag trio of a tiny Absol, a quirky Litwick, and a Milotic with a perpetual sparkling problem, who was chaperoning the other two. Like this, Hotaru's dragging the group all around the Business and Entertainment districts. Pokéco, the salvage shops, the race track, the library, and all of the streets in between all get a visit from the enthusiastic group (plus the less-than-enthusiastic chaperone Milotic.) Of course, Hotaru had to keep letting her Litwick know that, no, you can't set that store on fire, or no, that person's head is not a good place to rest, but it was still fun.

An antique store is just about the only place she shows up as human. In there, she and her Litwick critically examined all of the lamps they had on display. Or at least she did - Celosia was fine with trying to fit in with the store's wares instead. She had to shop around for a good replacement for the lamp she left in that god's shrine, and she was determined to collect from Haruka. But which lamp could possibly be good enough to replace that one?

So feel free to run into the group anywhere during their journey. Out shopping? That sure is a giant sparkling Milotic in the way. Out on errands? Your head is now a Litwick's resting place. Trying to find a seat in the stands of the race track? That's an Absol getting underfoot. Basically, go wild! ]

The time for action is at hand, and the players have been set in place. Those who choose to make an attempt at diplomacy head off at the appointed time to meet with Valeria, the clerk and representative of the general who leads the Gigas army. Those who wish to take more direct action against Gigas leave with General Ironbrand to put their plans into motion. In the meantime, the refugees continue to stream into Union, while supplies are gathered and flow the other way.

The outcome of this war may very well depend on the combined results of these four efforts…

((This log will be a catch-all for all four efforts of the attempt to save Caldera. There will be four different parts of this post: Diplomacy, Aggression, Refugees, and Supplies. The first two should be well established, but the Refugees portion will encompass bringing those in Caldera who require help to Union and giving them medical aid and care, while the Supplies portion will encompass people in Union setting up shelters and gathering resources to send back to Caldera, as well as other miscellaneous tasks that may be of help. Gathering resources may entail leaving Union to explore out in other areas. You all signed up for groups, so please try to maintain these groups when posting, particularly to the Diplomacy and Aggression sections. The other two may be more free-form.

Mods will be responding at least once every 24 hours to keep the logs moving.

[Both Pamela’s expression and tone of voice are quite serious as she begins to report on the situation in Caldera.]

The food supply is very low here in Caldera. The Gigas forces have taken most of their farmland. We need to have food brought in to keep everyone fed so that the people of Caldera who have stayed to fight won't be forced to surrender due to lack of food.

We're going to attempt to reason with the people of Gigas first in the hopes of achieving a peaceful resolution. In the meantime, though, food is needed.

[Time will tell if that goes anywhere. It’s worth a try, though.]

If everyone interested in helping to deliver supplies could reply here, I can coordinate from this end.

[Pamela is within the city of Caldera, out in one of the few areas within the city walls used for agriculture. She’s already spoken to one of the few Grass Earthkin of Caldera about what they’ve done so far, and now it’s her turn to try to build on that. Her powers do allow her to accelerate the growth of plants considerably, and at the moment she’s working on doing just that. It’s a temporary solution.

A longer term solution will require better soil. Pamela’s analyzed what she can with limited resources, and the biggest problem seems to be that the soil itself isn’t well-suited for growing anything but desert plants. The soil in the Verdant Forest is very fertile and some can surely be brought over to aid the city in growing their own food within the safety of their city walls.

All of Pamela’s pokemon that she brought to Caldera with her are standing guard to ensure that no one startles her trainer as she’s working. Hibiscus the Rapidash is pacing because he wants to go for a run. Pine the Glaceon occasionally glares at Hibiscus and otherwise takes refuge from the sun by sitting in the shadow cast by Sage the Venusaur. Clover the Gloom and Basil the Roselia are trying to contribute in their own way to helping with the growth effort. Ultimately, it’s Dahlia the Petilil that nudges Pamela to let her know that someone’s approaching. Pamela glances back to greet the person.

It's been about a week since Squid Girl discovered the horrifying cave full of Trubbish that feeds into the ocean via underground river, periodically dumping walking bags of toxic waste into her natural habitat.  And naturally, as a proud denizen of the deep, she's decided to do something about it.  So today Squid Girl has returned with a crack squad of environmental freedom fighters - or just the first six people she could wrangle into helping with this plan.  Either one is good enough for her.

"Okay, shut your beaks and listen up!  We're here to save the ocean from getting even more cluttered up with these Trubbish suckers!  Through careful inkfiltration, I've located their secret base in a cave not far from here!  We'll split into two teams - one team will go into the cave and make sure no more Trubbish come through, and the other team will dive underwater to dam up the hole they're coming through!  I have prepared lumber from the Verdant Forest and tools from the city for us to use.  It won't be easy, but we're doing somefin gilly important here - somefin that will be remembered by generations of Water Pokemon to come!  So what are you all waiting for?  Let's get kraken!"
