Plot Description: Spring Gala at the Fabre's!

Every year, Judge Fabre throws a birthday party for Asch and Luke's mother Suzanne. Because she's a bit sickly, the party is thrown outside when the air is the freshest in the spring. Any and all nobles and those of high standing in the community are invited, but there are... ways for the common rabble to get in and have a good time as well. Namely, the part of the manor ground's fencing that was torn down during the earthquakes. That, or maybe the guards are having a good time too and wandered away for some ...action. Either way, everyone's eligible! There will be food and drinks (children, mind the wine,) cake, dancing and more! Don't forget the fireworks at midnight, it might be something romantic for you and your sweetie. Wear something nice and mingle!

Warnings/Notes: Nothing but fancy outfits and maybe a little alcohol around here.

ARRIVAL

When you arrive (via the proper invite route, anyway,) the Fabre's mansion will be lit up with lights along the walk ways and through the gardens. Heading up the path will take you to the open dining area and the long patio reserved for dancing and mingling.

If you're here uninvited, try to play it cool! No one's really going to notice if you're not obvious about it. Sneak in and have some fun, Lady Suzanne is far too kind to kick anyone out of her party if she hears about it, no matter what her grumpy husband might say.

Find someone you now, or someone you dont! and have a grand old time. Make plans, sneak some food before dinner starts, if you're under age: try and sneak something from the open bar!

[Ky enters the party - as a kin to the Crownguards he's often the one who ends up going to such affairs, and as a Kiske it's mandatory for him. Besides, Suzanne fon Fabre is a lovely woman despite her sons' bad attitudes.

He's dressed in white tailcoats with silver trim and an azure sash - with a matching ribbon tying his hair back. The young man greeted the maids and footmen politely and anyone else he may recognize on his way to the main party]

[Not thinking much about things, as this is par for the course for him, Asemu walks along the path. He's wearing his dress uniform, which, unlike the standard version, is primarily white. For now, he's keeping an eye out for anybody he may know.]

[Rise's not a noble, but apparently switching from the radio to the theater upped her classiness enough to receive a formal invitation to this gala...although she's pretty sure it's with the understanding that she be "invited" to sing at some point.]

[She's in a flowing darker red gown that just about matches the color of her hair tonight, since she went with pink and fluffy for the last party she went to, and this one seemed a little more serious. Plus, let's be honest here, she had some extra spending money this month.]

[Aster had heard about the Gala from some people while doing his job and when he mentioned it to Tonitrus, the Eevee convinced the blonde that it would be a great idea to sneak in. Thus, he convinced Hilda to also come and here they are! The Eevee is also with him, fur brushed and looking pleased. Of course, since they don't have an invitation, they would simply have to act cool.]

[Aster isn't wearing anything different than usual. The only difference is that his lab coat is gone, left at home, and a flower is pinned to his shirt because Braea insisted that it would make the clothes look more fancy. He also attempted to make his hair look less unruly, but he did not succeed. Thus, when the opportunity opens up, he sneaks inside!]

Phew... I think we made it!

[If it's anything the Flourites know how to do, it's making a sufficiently dignified entrance. So for a moment the picture looks absolutely perfect, one twin walking on either side of their parents. Yuui, as the heir, of course walks on their father's side, while Fai is lending his arm to their mother. Behind them walks their uncle, head of the family and one of the most powerful men in the city.

And then... then Fai kisses the cheek of his already resigned-looking mother and peels away from the group, looking like he's just about dying to find somewhere else to be. Trying only goes so far. Although he's possibly a bit too eager and might just end up barreling into someone. The good news is that he's a lot lighter than one would think, but the bad news is that's he's all angles and no padding. Sorry about the elbows.]

GENERAL MINGLE

There's a huge amount of people! The Fabres seem to know everyone who's anyone in Union and everyone knows how terrible it would be to miss Judge Fabre's wife's birthday. There are servants bustling around serving drinks (champagne and simple cocktails for anyone who looks at least eighteen, sparkling water and juice for anyone else) and appetizers with fancy cheeses and sauces to try. Everything is free of course, even the open bar a room away by the dance floor if that's more your speed. Check your coats and hats at the door and find some people to spend the evening with.

[Luke, of course, is at his mother's birthday party. While he isn't too thrilled to be at another dumb cocktail party his parents were throwing, this is one event he wasn't going to sneak out of. He's dressed in his finest, at the request of his mother, and pretty comfortable in the clothes despite himself. His Eevee Mieu is sitting up on his shoulder (matching him in a blue sweater with a red bow tie) while he hangs out in the cocktail lounge, sipping a champagne flute full of sparkling berry cider and looking annoyed. He had barely a year until he could drink and he still had to have juice at parties like he was ten years old. Other teens could get away with drinking, but the servants knew how old he was... It wasn't fair!]

Let's get something to eat.

[He gives Mieu a pat on the head and goes to look for a plate of appetizers he wanted to try. Grabbing a whole tray from one of the servants, he went to sit down in an alcove in the hall and ate through them boredly, feeding Mieu every so often.]

[ Dick was here in some formal attire with Robin the Fletchling perched on his shoulder. He had come mainly to accompany his guardian, who has been a friend of the Fabre's for years. Dick himself like Suzanne Fabre; she was kind and unlike her two sons didn't tease him for his background.

His guardian had walked off to go and speak with some others and after Dick insisted he'll be fine on his own left the their Butler behind and started to walk around. He spoke politely with some of the elders who came to speak with him, keeping up his noble act. He also grabbed a sample or two when a servant walked around with trays, occasionally giving one to Robin when it was something that the little robin Pokemon would like.

Just like most noble parties there wasn't much to actually do there. Especially for a thirteen-year-old. For the most part he was glad that had Robin with him or else he might just be dying of boredom.

Though eventually if someone doesn't walk up to him he might just walk up to them with a simple comment and a smile plastered on his face. ]

Neat party, huh.

[Dinner parties are nothing special for Asch, they've thrown them his entire life, he's become so used to the event of dressing finely and random gossip being thrown loosely. However, this particular one was for his mother and that matters to Asch. So he'll play the roll of the good son if it means she'll have everything she wishes bestowed upon her on her special day. That includes dressing in matching entire with his twin brother, Luke.

His Pokemon are dressed for the occasion as well, his Eevee with matching bow to Luke's. The Vulpix, Beauty, in long laced ribbons and the Growlithe, Beast, in a dashing matching tie.]

What do you want? [Hump-! Bumping into him like that? Mind yourself! Or was it Asch that bumped into you? Either way, he wont be taking responsibility. Keep that nasty whine away from him too, you stain this outfit and you die (so edgy.)]

[ These sorts of invitations honestly come to Duke as a reminder that yes, he is a noble. It probably has to do with him moving to an apartment closer to the university for ease of travel, rather than living as where many might say he ought to.

But he's here, dressed nicely for the occasion rather than in his usual turtlenecks, and blinking because he forgot how many of the nobility had kids while he wasn't paying that much attention. Laulyse has her flower in his ponytail as usual, and is cooing over dresses if anyone cares to eavesdrop on her.

He'll just stand awkwardly aside for now. How many of the attendants did he show up in classes for? Too many. ]

[Normally Sanageyama would try to skip out on something like this. But he isn't so heartless as to ditch a sickly woman's birthday. So for once, he's there, wearing a suit.

But there's another reason why he's here. Specifically, it would be the woman with long, dark hair and a stern expression on her face.]

[On an average year, Feliks could probably get away with skipping this party. He didn't much care for mingling with the nobles, or for excessive numbers of new people in general.

But the downside that he hadn't predicted about the tournament was that his grandparents seemed to have come to a decision about him. That he was ready to grow into his role as a noble, that he was finally... presentable, he guessed? Now that he had something to show off, they weren't going to miss an opportunity to do so.

It didn't much suit him at all, which was only a small fraction of the reason that he had decided to dress up and not tell his grandparents until it was too late to stop him. He wore a layered confection of a skirt with a lace hem that trailed on the ground, a cream-colored blouse with loose sleeves, and an assortment of bronze jewelry set with garnets, all with a quiet air of defiance, of just you try and make me behave.

His grandparents were avoiding him, but already on damage control, quietly assuring the mothers of any single noble girls nearby that a few eccentricities were hardly unheard of among great men. He was tempted to use their absence to avoid having to say hello to the other nobles... But then again, it'd only be more trouble for him later. So he might as well get it over with, right?]

FOOD AND DRINKS

For those used to it, a fancy dinner party is nothing. You mingle with drinks before sitting down to the appetizer... wait, why are there so many forks? And three spoons? What lays before you may not be what you're used to at all! Maybe someone nearby will be able to help you, or maybe you can remember "always work from the outside in," ooor you can make a fool of yourself in front of a bunch of rich snobbish people! Because of the size of the party, there are no name plates at the tables so no one will question you being there if you're... not quite meant to be. The dinner is set out in the pavilion on the grounds for fresh spring air and ambiance so feel free to bump into and sit with anyone!

[After taking what felt like practically all day to get ready, Lux was certainly ready to eat. And, given that her corset was not nearly as tight as it had been during her last outing, she had space! Dressed in a blue dress that Camille had picked for her, her hair was curled and tied back around a simple circlet. She did not appear to be eating yet, but at this point waiting for something, or someone. Do you approach?]

Rigby! No... come back! [Take one uniformed Sword employed to be watching the manor running after his loose Aipom! The monkey partaking in the wonderful goods up for grabs, MMmmm-MM!] Aipom~!

[The Pokemon jumps right onto your table, snagging the thing you were just about to bit into! Everyone's looking and here comes Cress, storming after the mischievous creature.]

[Ah, drinks. Jayce has a nice glass of cognac in his hand, taking a nice sip before he takes part in the lavish meal before him. He's eager to dig into the plate of seafood before him.

[ As befits this "gentleman"'s attire, Haruka doesn't look lost by this place setting at all. Instead, she tucks her napkin discreetly onto her lap, and grins at the maid who just filled up her tea for her. ] Thanks. Did you set the table? It's lovely.

[ And there goes the hired help, flushed pink, and Haruka looks pleased with herself as she takes a drink. ]

[This is what he came for - free food!

In his slightly wrinkled shirt, it's clear Anders doesn't quite fit in with the snobs. Not that he's poor, having worked at the Medical Center for years now, but this all seems a bit over the top to him. Well, it isn't his money being wasted.

It might be obvious to anyone sitting nearby that he's sneaking every other bite under the table, to a waiting Espurr.]

[One word: tea. Satsuki actually hoarded a pot of steeping tea for herself, because the kind served to normal people is too weak for her. Just be careful not to grab it and pour yourself some by mistake, and if you do, be careful not to spit it out and ruin the tablecloth because of the bitterness.

Alternatively, just approach her to strike up a conversation, or get a hint on how to use all the damn cutlery.]

DANCING!

The dance floor is outside, in one of the Fabre's old stone courtyards. It's lit up with more lights and there will be live music playing all night long. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, so bust a move! ...Just try not to step on your partner's feet too much. The snobby rich people might wonder why you don't know a proper waltz, but maybe you could even find somebody to teach you! The band is playing classical, but I'm sure they could be bribed for requests.

Get something to drink, find a partner, have fun dancing! Or be a wall flower, but don't think you won't get noticed!

[She would be expected to dance, or at least give the appearance that she would; she knew well that, given her height, she would be hard-pressed to find a partner willing to dance with her. So, instead, dressed in a very simple dress, stark red hair tied back, she stayed close to the wall and watched as others danced by.]

There will be a prize for the person or team that brings back one of each.

[ Hah, there are games at this party. Kudos to the party planners, since this is silly but - why not?

Haruka strolls down the path, not especially looking at anything but alert to any unusual splashes of color. A Cheri Berry peeks out at her from within a shrub; she wanders over and snatches it. ] Amateurs.

[ Hopefully nobody else had their eye on that.... ]

PARTY CRASHERS!

Maybe you didn't get in with an invitation. Maybe you heard about the party, or you've always wanted to go! Still, somehow, you've never been invited. Or you were never able to befriend the Fabres or their charming twin sons. Maybe you were just passing by the noble quarter and saw a gate broken near the back of the grounds!

That's right. In the earthquakes, a bunch of the manor had broken down but by now it had been fixed. All but one little gate in the back covered by plant life that no one had noticed (or no one had given enough thought to to worry over.) This is your chance! Your year! Go and hang out with the rich and eat their food and drink their free booze.

That, or come in through the front. Maybe the guards won't be around.

ATTACK ON BUFFET

[It was hard not to notice all the music and hubbub rising from the Fabre grounds. Knowing nothing of things called "invitations" or "private property", Absol easily scaled the walls and made it into the party grounds. Her complete lack of formal wear (and the weapon on her back) is quite conspicuous, but no-one has challenged her yet. The phrase "just audacious enough to work" comes to mind.

At any rate, Absol has followed her nose to the bounty that is the outdoors buffet table. Sweets, meats and delights of every flavour adorn every square inch of the table, and Absol is trying everything, shovelling food into her mouth like there is no tomorrow.]

FIREWORKS

It's nearing the end of the night and the sky is dark and clear. As per tradition, as soon as the sun sets and the twilight fades, a group of servants go far out into the grounds and set off fireworks for the guests mingling up by the house. They're loud, so that might not be your cup of tea, but they are beautiful. Reds, golds, white, and oranges all flash across the sky. Maybe even some super fancy ones pop up in Pokemon shapes or something! Sit around on the lawn with after dinner drinks and chill out while the display goes on for over an hour.

[Its just her and Kay this evening as some of her Pokémon are still tired from one volcano misadventure that happened recently, but Alice still took the time to come to the party. Had dinner, talked to a few others, now she is just enjoying the silence of being alone with her Pokémon yet the sounds and sights of the fireworks.

Her dress is quite nice along with her and the Mr. Mime wearing matching flowers in their hair. Her friends recently had other affairs to return to, which Alice understands. Still would be nice if Mana and Rikka was with her at this party, but then again, those two would make anything better for Alice.

She will never shy away from company, but there is some enjoyment of watching the show with a dear friend, even a Pokémon.]
