Plot Description: Spring Gala at the Fabre's!

Every year, Judge Fabre throws a birthday party for Asch and Luke's mother Suzanne. Because she's a bit sickly, the party is thrown outside when the air is the freshest in the spring. Any and all nobles and those of high standing in the community are invited, but there are... ways for the common rabble to get in and have a good time as well. Namely, the part of the manor ground's fencing that was torn down during the earthquakes. That, or maybe the guards are having a good time too and wandered away for some ...action. Either way, everyone's eligible! There will be food and drinks (children, mind the wine,) cake, dancing and more! Don't forget the fireworks at midnight, it might be something romantic for you and your sweetie. Wear something nice and mingle!

Warnings/Notes: Nothing but fancy outfits and maybe a little alcohol around here.

DANCING!

The dance floor is outside, in one of the Fabre's old stone courtyards. It's lit up with more lights and there will be live music playing all night long. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, so bust a move! ...Just try not to step on your partner's feet too much. The snobby rich people might wonder why you don't know a proper waltz, but maybe you could even find somebody to teach you! The band is playing classical, but I'm sure they could be bribed for requests.

Get something to drink, find a partner, have fun dancing! Or be a wall flower, but don't think you won't get noticed!

[She would be expected to dance, or at least give the appearance that she would; she knew well that, given her height, she would be hard-pressed to find a partner willing to dance with her. So, instead, dressed in a very simple dress, stark red hair tied back, she stayed close to the wall and watched as others danced by.]

[Luke's not planning on dancing either, but the idea of Cordelia dancing with someone is pretty laughable. She's super tall, taller than he is at least, and (in his opinion of course) pretty homely too. Maybe the lighting in the dance area would make her seem prettier. He didn't really get it.]

[Still, he comes up to her while she's wall flowering, looking just as dolled up in a finely tailored suit. He gives her a wave and Mieu vee!s happily up at her from his ankles.]

Wouldn't figure you'd be in here.

[Crouching down to personally greet Mieu, Cordelia stands up again, looking a bit confused. What did he mean by that exactly?]

I would never miss your mother's birthday.

[Assuming he meant the party at all, not thinking of how strange it might be for her to be dancing.]

[ If someone doesn't know how to dance, feel free to approach Hans to have him teach you. He's been milling about the party, chatting it up with nobles and common folk alike, all with a smile on his face. Gosh, he's so dashing. Parties are completely his element, so don't be surprised if you find yourself swept off your feet. ]

[You know who'd rather not be dancing right now? Asch. Perfect guess because you thought right.] Teach me.. how to dance. [Standing in front of Hans, arms crossed with that same vexed expression as always.]

Quickly and privately, the southern dinning hall is empty, I only have an hour till we're to dance with mother. [Not that he hasn't had proper dance lessons but it's also not something Asch considers "perfected".]

[ Normally Hans might be tempted to make fun of Asch. Actually, he's super tempted to. But it's a party, and he's playing nice, and he'd never do that to his beloved cousin, so instead Hans nods, tossing him a reassuring look. ]

You've learned the basics, right? An hour should be enough to have you get the hang of it again.

[ Plus, it's sweet that he's doing it for his mother. If Hans cared about that sort of thing, anyway. He follows Asch to the other dining hall, where they can thankfully still hear the music from the main hall. ]

I suppose you'll want to lead?

[ Hey, somebody else here knows how to do the leading-people-who've-never-danced-before thing. Haruka notices this out of the corner of her eye while sipping a drink and watching the dance floor, sitting out a round as she debates what she wants to do next. Look how smarmily that guy smiles at the girls. Ridiculous.

Casual sip. But her eyes have been on Hans for a while now. Even if it's currently hard to tell she's a lady... ]

[The Isleys are nobility, but Pamela tends not to come to social functions unless she's either pressured by her parents or if the noble in question is a personal friend of hers. She'd much rather be in the research lab, or out exploring in the wild with her pokemon team. Now that she's eighteen, though, they're pressuring her more frequently.

Still, that doesn't mean she's out of her element here. She knows how to play along and adhere to the social etiquette taught to most nobles from early childhood onward. She's dressed appropriately for the event, and carries herself with confidence.

Thankfully, they had no objection to her bringing Basil, her Roselia, with her. Others would have their pokemon here, and Basil is a gentlemanly little pokemon (even if people mistake him for a girl sometimes). She's opted to drink some dark red wine on the sidelines of the dance floor for the time being, although she notices Hans effortlessly making the rounds.]

[Feliks leaves the last dance in a spin, laughing a little too loud as all the layers of his skirt swing around his legs. Oh, hey, is that a person he almost bumped into? Or rather, is it a new dance partner?]

[Oh wait it's THAT guy. The one who makes him feel all sketched out for some reason? Smarmy McTryhard. Apparently he's a bit of an asshole for not liking him, because he's kind of the nicest guy in the world? Whatever.]

...wanna be a pal and like, help me find the... the cheese table?

[considering her status and the status of the hosting family, it's almost required for her to make an appearance. Well, at least she's perfectly capable of enjoying these social niceties for what they are: a chance to gossip.

So here's Michiru, entirely in her element.]

So this is what rich people do for fun?

[He's not sure whether he should be amused or bemused, so currently he's feeling and projecting a bit of both. Michiru is clearly a pro at this whole 'waltz' thing, which is definitely a good thing since she's being kind enough to teach him.]

[ Hans might not be a prince here but he knows a proper socialite when he sees one.

Meanwhile, dancing and lavish parties are practically Hans' idea of having fun, so he knows a chance when he sees one. He's is smooth in his approach, weaving through people till he's by Michiru's side. Right as if on cue (or maybe he just timed it right,) a new song starts up as he flashes her a smile. ]

Hans. [ Introductions first, then he holds out his hand. He's a proper noble, after all. ] May I have this dance?

[Pamela can definitely appreciate Michiru's situation, being required to attend social events due to the Isleys' family status. Of course, she was better at ducking out of them when she was younger, primarily attending the ones that were hosted by friends and their families.

Now her parents are pushing her to branch out more - which is a little irritating considering her emotionally distant relationship with them. She knows it's in no small part an attempt to get her out meeting eligible young men. At least she's got her Roselia, Basil with her. He's a little gentleman and quite happy to be around people mingling. Especially in this nice spring air. In fact, he even manages a little gentlemanly bow when Pamela goes to approach Michiru to say hello.]

[Oh hey, someone he knows. Anders is so very clearly out of place here, it's a bit of a relief to see a friendly face. He'll wave when he sees here, and then, when he comes closer, bow and hold out a hand.

What? He knows how this works.]

[Now that he's had a dance with Michiru and learned the basics of the waltz, Hawke is...taking a break on the sidelines. Whoo! Just because he managed to avoid stepping on Michiru's feet during his lesson does not mean he will always avoid stepping on feet. Approach with caution.

Alternatively, feel free to mistake him for the hired help, because while his clothes are clean and wrinkle-free, they're also quite plain.]

[Anders won't judge, because while his clothes are less plain, they're also wrinkled. But at least they're clean for once.

He's smiling as he approaches Hawke.]

[Dancing. He might be a bit uncomfortable in his skin at parties like this still, but dancing is something he's good at, and it's fun besides.]

[And... well, it is nice to be able to pull off the proper noble act for a change. Disapproval might be fuel to some people's fire, but Fai is quite frankly not entirely fond of sticking out too much, no matter what the evidence might suggest.]

[It will, however, not matter the slightest to him who you are. Anyone who looks free might feel him tap their shoulder and turn around to be greeted by a wide smile.]

Would you mind giving me the pleasure of this dance?

[She's been keeping mostly to the outskirts of the dance floor. She's dancing when invited to, but otherwise just staying in the general vicinity. She wants her parents to note that look, here she is, participating in the dancing like a good young noblewoman. Her relationship with them is generally emotionally distant, but now that they've noticed she's of age to get married, they've been paying much more attention.

Her expression lights up when the person who invites her to dance is her friend.]

Fai! It's good to see you here. Of course I'll dance with you.

[Up until this point, Cordelia had been getting acquainted with the wall. Not much for dancing--not for being terrible at it, but the height thing was an issue--it came as a surprise when she was approached. Turning, she hid it well, but blinked a few times when she had to look up instead of down. She wasn't quite used to that.]

[Satsuki is in the wall flower category - technically. She's standing a little way back, watching the dancers seemingly idly - but if you notice, she's actually paying attention to everything. Who's dancing with whom, who talks to whom, and what is said. In her experience, social occasions like this are a pretty good way to find out what is supposed to be happening in the city. (Sitting in a backstreet pub tells you what is actually happening).

She does not seem to have a partner, however, and anyone not too intimidated by her frown and intense glare might attempt to invite her to dance. She might even agree.]

[If there's any part of this whole party thing that never gets old for Feliks, it's the dancing. He's quick to ask anyone for a dance or three, man or woman, and quite skilled at both the old noble dances and the new dances that he's probably not supposed to be allowed to know.]

[Just don't expect that the skirt means he'll be following!]

[Feliks wasn't too hard to spot in a crowd, despite being just as short as she was. Still, she made a special point to seek him out--especially since she had a suspicion about something and wanted it confirmed. Smiling cheerfully, she walked toward him, dressed in a rather stunning number.]
