Plot Description: Spring Gala at the Fabre's!

Every year, Judge Fabre throws a birthday party for Asch and Luke's mother Suzanne. Because she's a bit sickly, the party is thrown outside when the air is the freshest in the spring. Any and all nobles and those of high standing in the community are invited, but there are... ways for the common rabble to get in and have a good time as well. Namely, the part of the manor ground's fencing that was torn down during the earthquakes. That, or maybe the guards are having a good time too and wandered away for some ...action. Either way, everyone's eligible! There will be food and drinks (children, mind the wine,) cake, dancing and more! Don't forget the fireworks at midnight, it might be something romantic for you and your sweetie. Wear something nice and mingle!

Warnings/Notes: Nothing but fancy outfits and maybe a little alcohol around here.

[ This interests Haruka. No wonder your Trainer brought you to the party. This must be the most exciting thing that's happened to you all week. ] Could I reserve a place on your dance card, then?

[ A grin for Pamela. ] Yours too, if you'll have me.

[Basil bows and nods his head, as if to say it would be an honour to dance with her.

Pamela looks amused, although she has reserved a couple of spots on her dance card specifically for Basil to make him happy.]

It would be my pleasure to save you a place.

Mine too.

[ Haruka grins and eats in silence for a bit. Dancing with Basil will be an experience....less for the height difference and more for the fact she has a feeling they'll both be used to leading. But when confronted with a gentleman like that, what else could she do?

She mulls over a couple topics before finally hitting on one. ] This research you do. D'you have any experience investigating ruins?

Not much, but I'm always open to investigating new sites if a travel companion wants to check them out.

[She has to admit, it would be interesting to learn more about the ancient world. History books only tell so much, after all.]

Was there something in particular you're interested in?

[actsmagnificent]

[ Haruka shrugs. ] Not a site or anything. It's just...

[ ....come on, secret organization workaholic, think of an explanation. ] A lot of the plays we put on are based on legends, right? Or stories everyone says predate the Savior. It makes me curious what the world was like then, I guess....has human nature really changed...

[ She laughs. ] Bit heavy for an actor, right?

Maybe, but that just shows that you're dedicated to your career. A great actor has to have insight into human nature in order to accurately portray it in various roles, right?

[She smiles thoughtfully.]

You're welcome to come with me to explore a site if you'd like. We'll likely get very different things out of visiting there, but we'll have plenty to talk about during our travels.

[ ....oh thank goodness, that worked. The next course arrives, and Haruka finds herself having to talk over someone's arm as they deposit the serving dishes on the table. She ends up having to save the conspiratorial grin until it's just them again. That's...quite the offer. She's sort of touched. ] You'll have to tell me where to stand.

[Pamela picks up her glass and raises it.]

[ Haruka touches hers, ever so slightly, to Pamela's. The glasses even clink elegantly. ] And all they bring.

[ Has Basil got Berry juice or something? He should get in on this toast. ]

[Basil has a small glass of juice that he raises up, first to clink lightly with his trainer's before turning to Haruka's.]

I'll look forward to it in the future, then. You'll have to let me know what your performance schedule is like so we can schedule around that.

Rehearsal's overrated anyway. [ Thanks for the toast, Basil. She drinks.

When she removes the glass from her lips, it's to swirl the liquid before putting it back down. ] What about you? Any hobbies outside research?

[toxicrevenger]

This may come as...absolutely no surprise whatsoever, but I enjoy gardening. I like reading, going for walks, and occasionally I even enjoy socializing provided it's with the right people.

[Although she's friendlier than she likes to pretend she is. She generally will find the time as long as she gets along with a person and doesn't have an important deadline to meet.]

What about you?

[actsmagnificent]

[ Haruka chuckles good-naturedly. Hobbies. She had those, once. Now she just has a wife the Mission. ] Well, you know about the racing.

[ A thoughtful pause. ] ...Sports, mostly. If they host it, I've played it. [ And then got bored with it. She leans back in her chair. ] Now I just like killing time.

[She can picture Haruka being into sports all too easily. It fits well, and years of playing sports would explain how such a classy girl can handle Rhyhorn racing so well.]

How do you like to kill time?

[actsmagnificent]

Pleasant conversations at fancy parties.

[ You walked into that one, Pamela, sorry. Haruka leans back in her chair with a glance at Basil. ] Raising Pokémon that look that good must take some effort, as well.

[Basil sets down his cup and clutches at his cheeks as if to say that he's very flattered.]

He's just naturally handsome.

[And there's a pleased little sound coming from the little Roselia.]

[ Haruka grins, but any further compliments are cut short by the arrival of the main dish and refills for everyone's drinks. And good grief, the food just keeps coming. ]

...I think we're being told to eat.
