[ action - forest shrine ]

Let's get to it.

[ Haruka is in one of her Rhyhorn racing jumpsuits with the sleeves rolled up (though not quite to the scar she got botching her portion of the Sanctuary liberation efforts). She's facing down a member of the Divine Defense Force, light on her feet and ready for anything. If they're going to keep splitting up for missions, she needs an accurate assessment of her whole team's abilities. She can't respect what she hasn't seen in person.

So she's going to try to beat the crap out of them. All of them. One by one.

Passersby are welcome to stay to observe or challenge her, though responses to the latter may vary. The Divine Defense Force, however? Had better not hold back.

Haruka won't, either. ]

[ away from the sparring ]

[ Close enough to reach Trainer telepathically but far enough that the sparring shouldn't disrupt their afternoon, Sky the Beartic has spread a (leaf-embroidered) tablecloth across a tree stump and outfitted it with a variety of goodies for an outdoor tea party. There's plates of Poffins and PokéPuffs, as well as piping hot Berry tea from a fancy china teapot - Passion the Vulpix has accompanied them, and deigned to heat some water for their tea. There's also plenty of teacups, so anyone stumbling upon Sky, Passion, and a very confused World Shaking the Rhyperior is welcome to join their quaint assembly.

A word of advice, however: the teacups (and teapot) are sized for Beartic paws. Come thirsty. ]

[ later - throughout verdant forest ]

[ As the sun sets and the cool evening air wafts in, Haruka can be found on World Shaking's back, eyes half-closed as she navigates the Rhyperior through the trees. They haven't gone on one of these runs in a while, and after the scare she gave him in the caves, he deserved a treat. And she deserves to cool her head, too. They're all right. They passed another test. A respite's been earned.

The fact that she heard a god was spotted in this area from Snor-Lord and his human friends is utter coincidence. ]

[Today’s warp band feed features two individuals, and one massive gigantic grey blob. Friends might recognize Yosuke Hanamura and Yukiko Amagi. And some might even guess that blob is the infamous “Snor-Lord” but then they might also easily not, because really he’s just kind of a dweeb. There’s a serious look in the teenager’s eyes, like they have something incredibly serious to say. And even the infamous outlaw Snorlax seems quieter than usual.]

Hey. So, Yukiko and I sorta had an encounter the other day. Like, one of the divine kind.

[He takes a deep breath.] One of the gods contacted us. And it had some pretty important things to say.

[Yukiko’s head dips as she greets the viewers, and she pushes up her glasses before speaking in an equally solemn voice.]

It was a god named Suicune. It said it was the North Wind. The...Gale that brings the frost. One of the winter gods, I’d guess. It had kinda a lot to say, but it was really...um...weird, mostly because it wanted us to ask questions and not the other way around.

[He nods, looking at her and then back to the feed.]

And the answers we got weren’t exactly good. [She breaks in with a nod.] No, they really weren’t.

[He takes another breath, trying to recall everything to the best of his ability.]

We asked about Gigas, and Sanctuary. Turns out the gods have an opinion on them, too.

[She takes a breath as well, and Snor-Lord’s hands drop down onto both of their shoulders. The big brute leans in between them and grunts.]

It also said a few things about the gods too, and how they think. Like...they definitely are testing us. And they have a reason. But it didn’t say what, and it seemed like it was working for another god. Which I guess points to a kind of hierarchy?

[Snor-Lord nods again and speaks in a serious series of Snors/Laxes/Snorlaxs.]

Yeah, it was also kind of a jerk. Talkin’ about manners like a big lamer.

[Yosuke rolls his shoulder in irritation, not wanting the big pokemon’s hand there.]

Get your paws offa me! Anyway, it was seriously freaky. Especially with what it had to say. But we couldn’t sit here and keep this to ourselves. We’ll be here if anyone’s got any questions.

((ooc: Replies will come from either Yosuke and Yukiko and Snor-Lord, and if you prefer action they’re in one of the residential district parks. If you want a joint thread or one of them specifically, let us know in your header!

Also, order doesn't matter- feel free to boomerang either one of them if the other isn't around! It will help make things go faster :D ))

As people face their fears and insecurities, the images slowly fade away as they are funneled into a singular cavern room. The walls are lined with floating images - records of the trials faced playing across the walls. Hovering above the floor in the center of the room is a strange Pokémon, its eyes closed in meditation. As more people enter the room, the swirling memories begin to form around the Pokémon, coalescing into a symbol. As the images merge with the Pokémon, it appears changed.

Greetings, Humans of the New World.

The voice is soft, warm, and nurturing.

I am Diancie. I guard the gate to the final evolution. I have heard much of you. I am pleased to say that others have spoken quite highly of you. I am here to give you a gift, one never before granted to humanity. But then, many among you are not entirely human anymore, are you?

Be warned, the power I give today is not to be taken lightly. We have observed your progress and we are pleased with your triumphs. Sparing your kind was not a mistake! It is our hope that you will use this for good use.

[OOC: With that, the event has officially ended and things will return to normal. Characters may use this post to ask questions of Diancie.]

As the characters arrive, they will find what appears to be a rather deep cavern. Upon entering, the caverns are quite narrow, with twists and turns everywhere and different tunnels that all seem to be interconnected. As characters travel deeper within the caverns, reality around them will start to warp, they will start to see and hear things that aren’t necessarily there - images of old enemies, past failures, voices of condemnation, visions that strike at the soul and core of the characters. Once this begins, it will only increase in power and volume, demanding it be confronted, lest they be trapped within these caves forever.

[OOC: This event will run for a week. All characters who enter the caves will be subject to some of their deepest fears, darkest demons, and most abject failures. To overcome them, characters must help each other out, finding their purpose through strength of character and resolve to move forward. In general, these visions should require characters to come to grips with themselves. Illusory images and voices can and will appear and can take any number of forms, depending on what is most appropriate to a character. Additionally, characters may thread with each other and are encouraged to help each other out to overcome these personal demons. For those who wish to take part, they are able and encouraged to narrate their own personal demons, which will be on display for everyone who enters their thread. IC threads may be made in this post.]

1. The Refuge Camp [Action]
[ Nestled deep in the refuge camp was a travel trunk. Like all travel trunks, it was both well-used and well-traveled. It was also asleep. A cacophony of sawing sounds rumbled through the tent flap, causing a passerby to sharply veer away. Rincewind stepped outside and stretched. He had a long day ahead of him. There were groceries to procure and clothes to reluctantly buy. He needed to get out of the camp and find an actual place to stay. The tent was all fine and dandy, but at the end of the day, it was on the breezy side and didn't offer leg room. He had to duck which meant his hat never stayed on his head when he had to stand. ]

[ No, he had to find a new residence. Somehow. But, food first. Rincewind picked a direction and strode. ]

[ The Luggage woke up. ]

How has everyone been? Cordelia and I have been quite busy of late, my apologies for being unavailable. Married life is, as it happens, keeps your free time rather limited, but I must say it is highly recommended! The recent contact with the city of Sanctuary has lead to some rather interesting revelations! I'd always noticed my abilities were somewhat different from that of the normal Enlightened. Once I learned the name, it all fell into place, and my eyes were able to reveal the truth. Apparently, I am Magi, as the Enlightened of Sanctuary are. It's a rather fascinating development! I still am not certain how I ended up here at all, but it would explain why nobody has recognized me before. Perhaps I managed to make it near to Union before meeting a grisly end, only to reawaken alive and bereft of memory within the Forest Shrine! At the very least it's interesting to speculate about.

[There's a familiar face that pops up on the warp band, although it's been a while since Kyouko found herself in Union. She doesn't look much different. A bit dirtier, maybe. Wandering unexplored lands training and in search of her adversary was not exactly a vacation.]

It's been a while, Union. [While she looks relaxed, there's just a tiny edge to her voice, like she really doesn't want to be here.]

I'm lookin' for someone. [She's not going to beat around the bush.]

Thought I saw her on the band when I stopped in Caldera not too long ago. Blonde hair in two like, twisty formations. [She takes her ponytail and twists it into the approximation of one of Mami's drills.] Too nice for her own good. She's from Citadel. Anyone seen her?

Who: Mami and Yosuke
Where: On the way to Refuge, then at Refuge.
When: Week 78
What: Travel! Adventure! And Mami doesn't want to admit that they're totally flirting, too!

"Holding up fine down there?"

Mami has checked, routinely, on Yosuke as they travel. She is more than capable of moving across long distances quickly. With her ribbons and her limited flight powers, courtesy of being a Child of the Howling Gale, she is able to leap from landmark to landmark. She can carry Yosuke with her easily enough; she has another ribbon around him, with loops for him to hold onto. The loops end in elegant bows, to tie them together, because Mami is a little ridiculous sometimes. She made sure that he practiced moving with her, just the same. Despite appearances, it takes some balance and focus on on his part.

But she has it down to a rote movement, ribbons flying to keep them moving. At the moment, they are moving through a wooded area, and nearing Refuge. They probably have a few more hours, at least by Mami's best recknoning.

"I told you that it would be fine!" she calls back down. Mami winks when she does, before she looks back up, and casts her ribbon for the next tree.

[Today? Your warp band opens up to a feed of a young girl who's fiddling furiously with the controls. A Carbink hovers beside it, sparkling and shining cheerfully. There's not really much going on, but she blinks when it comes to life.]

Oh! It works! Um...hi!

[A wave, and then she pokes the camera with a finger.]

This thing is confusing...

[More fiddling...]

Is everything here just more complicated than it needs to be? I-

[And then whoops, it cuts off.]

Action 1

[In the Residential district there's the distinctive patter of tiny feet and a screeching, child-yelp. The screaming continues and grows louder as a small girl runs by with a Carbink in her arms...pursued by a pair of angry Spearow.]

Stop following me! Go awaaaaay!!

Action 2

[In the library, someone is definitely not being quiet. A little girl's voice echoes down the long rows of books, exclamations of wonder and delight. She's never been allowed in a real library before, and the fact that she's able to touch books that don't belong to the Tohsaka's personal collection is like a Birthday and Winter Festival present rolled together. Rin climbs up and just grabs several big books at random, tottering over to a table and setting them down with a thud. And if someone doesn't stop her, she's going to get a few more...]

Action 3

[Finally, it's getting on towards nighttime and a sleepy Rin is trudging her way home. She'd eluded guardians all day, but even she had to admit that it was time for bed. Only...she doesn't exactly know where that is yet. She'd scampered off in daylight and now it's too dark for her to get her bearings. Is it this fountain or that fountain where you turn left? Was there a Noctowl statue sitting on the roof when she'd come by at noon?

It's troubling enough that she starts by going over to tug the nearest stranger's pant leg.]

Um. Excuse me...can you help me find my way home?

[A new face appears over the Warp Bands. Mami, being a ridiculous Valkyrie who treats the law of gravity more like a loose guideline for other people, is just casually standing atop one of the towers while she sends a broadcast out. There is some wind as a result.]

Good morning, Union. Your city is quite impressive. As are these Warp Bands. I'd heard of them, but... never seen the like before.

[She is honestly relieved that they have tall towers here.]

I'm one of the people who assisted in that unfortunate business in Sanctuary. Mami Tomoe, a Valkyrie of Citadel, at your service. I hope everyone is well after everything that happened.

[The bright smile she flashes is perfectly polite and practiced, but a little sad. Yeah, that... entailed some discoveries that she isn't pleased with.]

[Action, Later in the Entertainment District]

[Mami doesn't spend the entirety of her first day in Union flying from rooftop to rooftop. It wouldn't be a very efficient way to see and experience the city, would it? No, instead, she is walking along the streets. She's presently in the entertainment district -- and gawking (or something more muted, but still utterly surprised), because Citadel has nothing like this. It's outside of the Pocket Stadium that she stops, staring at a flyer pressed into her hand.]

[She wrinkles her nose, trying to make sense of it.]

Bullet... Ball? [She's asking everyone and no one at the same time.] Is this like Sky Hockey? A Unioner sport, perhaps?

[Is Unioner the right word? She doesn't know.]

It’s just after midnight when the column arrives outside of Sanctuary, shrouded in darkness under the pitch black of a new moon. Bordered by mountains to the north, the city has two primary gates to the West and the East, both of which are shut tight with massive oaken doors, centuries old and further secured with an antique portcullis. The city itself is surrounded by walls of stone, easily one-fourth the height of those found in Union and about twice the height of many of the homes, sturdy stone buildings with triangular roofs, about the same size as Calderan homes. Like Union, there are many towers within the city, but unlike Union, the towers are cold, aloof structures that stand alone with no connection to the other towers. The city itself is stone, cold, gray, and unfeeling, with small drops of light from streetlamps which line the streets, emitting an eerie blue-white glow. This is Sanctuary. Home of the Magi, conquered by Gigas for forty years. This is the city that must be reclaimed.

[OOC: If you did not choose to take the Pokeballs (you don’t have to have affirmed in an NPC thread, it’s entirely up to the character), they may have either 1 large Pokemon or 2 small Pokemon. A large Pokemon is classified as any Pokemon that is 4’ tall or long per the official Pokedex guidelines, anything smaller is considered a small Pokemon. Without the aid of Pokeballs the Pokemon will be required to be out and active throughout the log, and will not be able to be recalled or sent away if they are injured and must be carried if knocked out. As always, please limit yourself to 2 major actions in the log, and declare all Pokemon accompanying you in your first tag to a log. As always, to keep the logs moving, we will be responding every 24 hours.]

The time has come.

At General Ironborn’s direction, the assorted troops of Caldera, Citadel, Refuge, and Union begin to roll out of the gates of the city. It would be a long trip – Sanctuary lay far to the west of Caldera, beyond any of the territory currently known to Union. Crossing the perhaps now-familiar desert would be merely the first leg of this journey. The atmosphere, as they depart from the gates, seems chipper. There are high hopes for the reclamation of territory from Gigas, and the people of the Sanctuary Resistance, especially, begin to entertain the appealing notion that their city might be free once more for the first time in decades, exchanging wide smiles and congenial laughter.

They do not travel light, of course. Caravans pulled by Ponyta and Tauros accompany them, stocked to the brim with food and supplies to last their small army for weeks. Their efforts hopefully wouldn’t last much longer than that, but they are assured by the Sanctuary natives that so long as they were able to reclaim a portion of the city, the people would happily provide them with what they needed. Other wagons are stocked with odd-looking machinery and gadgets – those sitting inside will spend the majority of the journey fiddling with equipment. Anyone who inquires will be informed that the technicians are making preparations to highjack Sanctuary’s communications network for their missions – perhaps they would care to assist? Still others are filled with armor and weaponry, useful Enhanced Items hurriedly crafted by the artisans of Union, and a few even tote heavier Pokémon who wouldn’t be up to the task of traveling the distance alone.

As it turns out, war is very troublesome to wage.

Over the course of the journey, there is plenty of time for idle conversation and brief side excursions or rest stops. The caravan eventually elongates and stretches out such that the furthest travelers are several miles in front of the rear – still, it is simple enough to go between wagons. In a pinch, the Valkyries swooping in the sky are always happy to take on a passenger for a short ride.

Eventually, word would spread that they were only a day’s travel from Sanctuary, and the mood will become somber, serious. But in the meantime, why not chat up your fellow travelers?
