The Situation in Glacier
The rescuers have been allowed a night's rest following their arrival on the outskirts of Glacier. Though there is ample evidence of their enemy's presence in the form of burning buildings and ruined settlements, the creature itself appears to have wandered off briefly to wreak havoc in a different corner of the frozen tundra. Or perhaps it was taking a brief siesta following so much exertion - murder and destruction was tiring work. Whatever the case, it seems to be an opportune time to descend into the city and assist those remaining there.
If they are brave, they might even try to take back the city itself. But the primary goal, of course, is to save as many people as possible before the great dragon returned.
The few people of Glacier who had guided them this far point out the less-traveled paths by which it may be possible to enter the city unnoticed. It is determined that they will fan out in groups, both in search of survivors and in search of the companions of the dragon who had so effectively laid waste to the city. Perhaps they might still gain the upper hand.
((You may respond to your threads now! Not all the groups will have immediate mod starters going up, so feel free to initiate threading; a mod will step in as soon as possible. As usual, we will be tagging on a 24-hour basis whether or not all group members have tagged in.
When responding, please list the Pokemon your character is bringing with them.
While the final portion of this event will go up on Sunday, October 4th, please also feel free to continue tagging this portion of the log as these threads will almost certainly not be finished yet.))

Let's go through these crates and barrels -- and be quick. We don't know how long it will last.
[They start doing that, with Mami's help, while she looks around. She addresses the other Enlightened next.] We need to check the shelving and that door, too.
no subject
As she continued to look through everything, she just couldn't erase this feeling of dread. The problem was that she just couldn't figure out what it is. Maybe it was this whole mission? Perhaps but...]
Just be careful though, you don't know what might happen...
no subject
Yukiko sticks close to Mami and Fuuka, poking through some of the barrels. There wasn't really a lot else she could do just yet, and she trusted Peter to take care of the other warehouse. So, following orders.]
Right.
no subject
Here...cough...let me help with that-! [Yosuke himself focuses, and prepares a small Whirlwind to try to push back any remaining haze that Peter doesn't get. His Kabutops stays close, just in case something does collapse. In turn, he also calls out to anyone who may be hiding inside.]
Hey! If anyone's in here, we're here to help you! Can anyone answer me?!
no subject
[Not wanting to leave the second building alone just in case something happens, Chie heads in with her Kingler. She's ready at a moment's notice to have her companion put out any more fires that might suddenly ignite, but right now she's concerned with finding whoever might be inside and getting them to safety.]
Hello? Is anyone in here?
no subject
[The second warehouse is in marginally worse shape than the fourth; perhaps it's for the best that only one person has chosen to enter. The smoke is present here as well, but in smaller quantities - being in marginally worse shape, there had been plenty of openings from which the rising smoke could escape.
From time to time, a mass of corrugated steel peels off from the roof and smashes to the ground. These incidences are usually accompanied by small screams from a far corner. There is no direct answer to Chie's question, but so long as the screams continue, she might be able to follow them to their origin. The maze of crates impedes her way at times - depending on how much of a hurry she's in, it may be wiser to simply burst through towards the end and chance the risk of further collapse.]
[Third Warehouse]
[Morgiana's acute sense of hearing will catch the sounds of things... shifting in general. Metal collapsing, crates falling, and so on and so forth. The third warehouse, from an outwards opinion, appears to be in a similar state of decay as the second.]
[Fourth Warehouse]
[The Whirlwind and the Outrage will clear some of that smoke, enough so that it's only exceedingly irritating rather than life-threatening. And hopefully, they had taken a light touch with it so as not to disturb the building much further; the walls shake slightly with the force of the wind, but remain stable. With so many people and Pokemon scouring through the building, though, they can probably cover ground fairly quickly.
Yosuke's shout will not result in any response; Fuuka's psychic sense, however, will likely continue to guide her. There are several signals coming through now - the bulk of them are concentrated behind that metal shelving, though she may wish to pause to point out a particularly large crate to her friends for examination.]
((Hey guys! The final portion of the event has gone up; however, we will still be responding to these threads regularly as scheduled. The outcome of these threads may influence how the major fight goes.
Chie and Morgiana, as you've split off, do you want me to thread with you guys personally?))
no subject
No time to lose, then, if she wanted to accomplish anything. Morgiana nodded to Gultas, who formed a stirrup with his paws for her to step into, then FLUNG her upwards. She landed neatly by one of the various holes in the building. From there she just hopped in, leaping over piles of debris when she could, or just bashing through them when she couldn't, as she made a fast and efficient search of the building.
no subject
[Mami's glancing specifically at Fuuka. Aw yeah psychics.]
no subject
I do but I think we might have to split up. I can sense something behind that. [She said before pointing to said metal shelving] And I can also sense something else in that large crate as well.
[Whatever it may be, it didn't stop her from feeling nervous]
no subject
[Yukiko points to Peter, and the big Pokemon nods, his claws already prying open the crate. The girl herself peers inside...
The shelving she herself can't do a lot about though, so someone more physically adept might want to have a look.]
no subject
He peeks around the corner to see what he finds...(and anyone can come with him of course!)]
no subject
Osano-wo, great job. Take a rest.
[Pushing a few buttons on her Warp Band, Chie dismisses her Kingler and calls out her Garchomp instead, climbing up on its back.]
Pao-Lin, aerial recon mode! Let's find these people and get them out of here!
[Time for the dragon jet to zoom over these crates and help Chie find the trapped people from above. There should be just enough space for that, even with the collapsing roof.]
no subject
['People', perhaps, is a bit optimistic,. As Pao-Lin and Chie lift up into the air, they'll find themselves ascending into slightly thicker smoke. It's still possible to see, however, and down below, Chie will spot a small figure in a corner pressed up against a part of the warehouse wall with a few jagged holes - only her upper body is visible as the rest appears to be trapped by a fallen beam. A moment later, a great crash marks the collapse of the roof in the spot where Chie had previously stood. It's probably good that she didn't choose to bust through the crate maze.
The figure below gazes upwards for a moment and stares as if not quite believing what they're seeing -- then screams loudly once more as another section of the roof caves in.
It is definitely a woman's voice.]
[Fourth Warehouse (the others)]
[It will take only a moment for Peter to bust open the crate in question. How could anyone have possibly gotten inside there? The answer, however, is clear, when the top is finally pried off - it's a nest of four Swinub, huddled up together in terror. There is a noticeable crack in the bottom of the crate where they might have sneaked inside, but the opening had become inaccessible when the crate had fallen over.
The tiny piglets squeal and cry as the lid comes off.
Yosuke, on the other hand, will be met with a much grimmer sight. There are four people obviously unconscious on the floor, half-buried in some of the fallen shelving.
If he can reach them, though, he will find that only two are still capable of being saved at this point - a young girl clinging to the body of her mother and a large man who blearily stirs when he is prodded.]
no subject
[Peter hurls the top of the crate aside and reaches down inside to scoop up the little piglets. If any of them get particularly wriggly, Hestia will help, catching hold of them.]
Guys, get them out!
[With a nod, the two Pokemon start on out, ready to get the babies to safety, letting Yukiko's attention focuses more on Yosuke.]
Did you find anyone?
no subject
Of course, by now, Fuuka could obviously sense who they were and just mumbled to herself. The problem was that she didn't want to be the one to tell him that some of them were dead.]
no subject
Hold on. You're both safe. We're here to help. We will heal your wounds, too.
[She's helping the little girl, first. And... trying to turn off the part of her head that wants to panic at seeing a dead parent.]
no subject
He checks the one- they're dead too- before moving to the man. He stirs, thankfully, and Yosuke can only manage to choke out calling for his friends.]
Yukiko... [His voice sounds strangled, like he's just trying to keep it together between unmitigated anger and empathy of the lost.] ...This guy needs your help. I can't get this thing off of him...
no subject
Get ready to move the shelves. I'll...I'll fix this.
[And she presses her hands against the man's chest, a golden light flowing from her into him as she uses her most powerful heal. If he's alive, it'll fan the flames of health in him. This was what her power really was, healing. The stuff of life. He'll live, provided they can get the shelving off.
And once that's done, he turns to the other two, the bodies. And she does the same thing, reaching deep inside her, drawing out every possible ounce of healing energy she can, tapping the well as deep as will go. If they're alive...or even recently dead? Then this may just jolt them back to life. She's done it before, healing a flat-lined Pokemon, and she hopes she's in time.]
no subject
All she could do was just comfort the poor girl as Yosuke and Yukiko were trying their best to help the others. Although the girl's pleas for her mother didn't help. As hard as Fuuka tried, she was struggling not to cry. Just knowing that this girl had lost her mother was hard enough much less the loss of life.
She wanted to ask Yukiko if she could revive them but...does she want to know the answer?]
no subject
[The piggies are freed and though they squirm a bit, Peter, Hestia, Espurr, and Aerodactyl will be able to escape with them in short order.
Having made their way outside, the group of Pokemon may eventually spot some approaching figures in the distance -- too far to see clearly through the residual smoke.
Back in the warehouse, Yukiko's efforts to revive the dead are unfortunately fruitless; even if the heart should resume beating, the cessation of the internal organs and lack of oxygen to the brain is too much to restore. The unknown man, however, revives quickly, coughing and wheezing as his respiratory systems are kicked back into gear. He tries to speak, but the raspy nature of his voice makes it clear that he'll need further treatment to clear up the damage to his lungs.]
You --
[That's all that's clear before he descends once more into wheezing.
In Mami's arms, the girl falls silent after weakly crying for her family a few times, burying her head against Mami's chest. How it is that she's managed to make it this far in a healthy state is unclear, though Yosuke may note as he clears the tangled mess of shelving that it had gashed a small hole in the rear. It seems she was small enough to fit through the gaps in the metal to press up against the outside for cleaner air.]
Second Warehouse
It's okay! We're here to help! Come with me, I'll get you out of here! We don't have much time before the building collapses!
no subject
[It takes Mami a lot of willpower to not start crying. Pulling a young girl from something like this reminds her too much of Walpurgis; of how her parents died. Of how they found her, half-dead and injured. She hugs her a little tighter, before she looks at the man.]
Is he...?
no subject
She staggers to her feet and croaks out hoarsely to call in Teddie, her Beartic. The Pokemon appears in a flash, and immediately takes note of what's going on...]
Get the shelves. Then this man. We've got to get him out of here.
[And the big bear grabs up the shelving, tossing it aside like it was cardboard and gently scoops up the man.]
[Meanwhile, outside? Snor-Lord is pretty much leaving the Swinub piglets in the hands of the other pokemon. Tugging on his jacket, he steps up to interpose himself between the distant strangers, totally not trusting them one bit and wanting to put his bulk in the way. Plus, it's a chance to show off his brave he is for the ladies...]

What she will find, though, are a few scattered bodies on the floor. It appears as if the majority of the victims have perished through smoke inhalation as their bodies are not burnt.
Whether or not they're worth attempting to save is her own decision. She will find three bodies in total - two adult women and one teenaged boy. The body count, after all, could be much higher.]
