Descent into Darkness

As the characters arrive, they will find what appears to be a rather deep cavern. Upon entering, the caverns are quite narrow, with twists and turns everywhere and different tunnels that all seem to be interconnected. As characters travel deeper within the caverns, reality around them will start to warp, they will start to see and hear things that aren’t necessarily there - images of old enemies, past failures, voices of condemnation, visions that strike at the soul and core of the characters. Once this begins, it will only increase in power and volume, demanding it be confronted, lest they be trapped within these caves forever.

[OOC: This event will run for a week. All characters who enter the caves will be subject to some of their deepest fears, darkest demons, and most abject failures. To overcome them, characters must help each other out, finding their purpose through strength of character and resolve to move forward. In general, these visions should require characters to come to grips with themselves. Illusory images and voices can and will appear and can take any number of forms, depending on what is most appropriate to a character. Additionally, characters may thread with each other and are encouraged to help each other out to overcome these personal demons. For those who wish to take part, they are able and encouraged to narrate their own personal demons, which will be on display for everyone who enters their thread. IC threads may be made in this post.]

Well you seem a little...sad?

[She mumbled a little as she attempted to step forward toward him. Although, she was nervous on how he'll react]

Are...are you going to be okay?

[Sad. Yeah. He was sad. But he couldn't be. He needed to move on, to keep going. If he stopped now, he'd never get started again. And that could easily spell disaster.]

Yeah. I'm fine.

[Totally waving it off... though, it might be a little unconvincing.]

Are you sure?

[Fuuka didn't know what to do. For one thing, she wanted to help him but at the same time? Would it be rude of her to keep bothering him when it was clear that he didn't want to talk?

At the same time, it wasn't a good thing to bottle everything up either...]

I...I don't wish to be rude but I don't think you are, sir. You seem rather anxious.

There's no point in dwelling over the ghosts of our past. We need to keep moving forward.

[He gave one last glance back at the debris, the collapsed rubble of a building shaken apart and destroyed from the earthquake.]

So, yeah. I'll be okay.

[We should probably keep moving.]

Yes but that doesn't mean we can't look back and think about our future. If we look to the past, we can find out what we can do later on!

[She said before trying to follow him]

What does looking at the remains of where I lived have to do with where I'm going in the future?

[He looked confused and maybe a little annoyed.]

[When Fuuka opened her mouth to say something, she found herself quickly closing it back up. She didn’t know what to say back to him but she knew one thing.]

...Perhaps as a way to remind yourself to keep moving forward?

[But even then, she wasn’t sure if that was the right thing to say]

[He sighed.]

I mean, I know it was a rough day for a lot of people...

I don't think anyone would think otherwise. Given the damage of what happened and...

[...Should she dare say it...?]

...The amount of people that were hurt too.

Hurt... killed. Left behind.

[He narrowed his eyes.]

It ain't cool, anyway.

I know, that's...what I meant. I just...didn't want to trigger anymore bad memories than this place already has.

[She said in a low voice. Again, she wasn't sure if this was the best idea but she rather be on the cautious side]

It makes me wonder what the purpose of all this is, then.

Have you seen anything on your own?

Perhaps but it doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt. [She shook her head]

No, I haven't but it feels like it would only be a matter of time before I would see something.

[A pause] Not that I would be happy to see them myself.

[It did hurt... which was one of the main reasons Duo tried to hard to avoid it all the time. This kind of pain... it didn't go away. It wasn't fixed by medicines and pain killers. It just... lingered. And he hated that he couldn't fix it.]

Yeah.

I guess everyone's got something like this, right?

It's how I found my ghost powers, too.

[For a moment, Fuuka didn't say anything. Instead, she just gave off a sad smile before looking at the wreckage before them.]

Yes, they do. Although, I must admit...I'm afraid I never really experienced something quite like this before.

...At least...now where I have lost so many people and discovered my powers in such a horrifying way. [A pause] I suppose I'm rather lucky in that regard.

Luck is relative. I guess you could say I am, too, because I survived.

[He shrugged.]

[And yet, that didn't suit Fuuka all too well with those words]

Yes, you are. In fact, everyone who has managed to live this far are pretty lucky. It's just...[Mumble mumble] I wonder what would happen later on though. To those who aren't...

Yeah... that is a good question.

[He turned again.]

We should probably keep going.

[Once again, Fuuka wasn't exactly sure what to say to him. After all, with all this destruction, there was only one thing she could say to him]

All right then but where are we going? If that's okay to ask...?

Further in, I guess. I was headed that way when the scene changed. Maybe, going in further will help us figure out what's going on.

Perhaps but I wonder where we can go for now. It just seems like destruction no matter where we look!

Maybe we'll see something... I mean, this wasn't just here. It sort of appeared. So, if we keep going, I'm hoping it'll change.

[He nodded towards the direction he wanted to go again.]

C'mon. There's only one way to find out.

[Fuuka wasn't sure if she likes where this was going but she'll follow Duo anyway as a just in case should anything happen to him. Although, the more she continued to walk, the more started to get uneasy.

However, it started to become more primer when she heard some golf nearby]

Did...Did you hear that? I could have sworn I heard...

[Laughing...?]

[The sound was definitely different over here. Duo was curious, and he nodded to her.]

Let's go look.

[After all, it would get them away from his place, at least.]

[However, as Fuuka continued to follow Duo, the laughing only got louder. She didn't know what was going on but whatever it was?

The laughter sure sounded a lot like her]

Are you sure that it'll be a good idea? It's starting to sound like it might not be? Although, I can try to sense it but...

[It doesn't erase how creepy it sounded or why it sounds so much like her own voice]
