Descent into Darkness

As the characters arrive, they will find what appears to be a rather deep cavern. Upon entering, the caverns are quite narrow, with twists and turns everywhere and different tunnels that all seem to be interconnected. As characters travel deeper within the caverns, reality around them will start to warp, they will start to see and hear things that aren’t necessarily there - images of old enemies, past failures, voices of condemnation, visions that strike at the soul and core of the characters. Once this begins, it will only increase in power and volume, demanding it be confronted, lest they be trapped within these caves forever.

[OOC: This event will run for a week. All characters who enter the caves will be subject to some of their deepest fears, darkest demons, and most abject failures. To overcome them, characters must help each other out, finding their purpose through strength of character and resolve to move forward. In general, these visions should require characters to come to grips with themselves. Illusory images and voices can and will appear and can take any number of forms, depending on what is most appropriate to a character. Additionally, characters may thread with each other and are encouraged to help each other out to overcome these personal demons. For those who wish to take part, they are able and encouraged to narrate their own personal demons, which will be on display for everyone who enters their thread. IC threads may be made in this post.]

It makes me wonder what the purpose of all this is, then.

Have you seen anything on your own?

Perhaps but it doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt. [She shook her head]

No, I haven't but it feels like it would only be a matter of time before I would see something.

[A pause] Not that I would be happy to see them myself.

[It did hurt... which was one of the main reasons Duo tried to hard to avoid it all the time. This kind of pain... it didn't go away. It wasn't fixed by medicines and pain killers. It just... lingered. And he hated that he couldn't fix it.]

Yeah.

I guess everyone's got something like this, right?

It's how I found my ghost powers, too.

[For a moment, Fuuka didn't say anything. Instead, she just gave off a sad smile before looking at the wreckage before them.]

Yes, they do. Although, I must admit...I'm afraid I never really experienced something quite like this before.

...At least...now where I have lost so many people and discovered my powers in such a horrifying way. [A pause] I suppose I'm rather lucky in that regard.

Luck is relative. I guess you could say I am, too, because I survived.

[He shrugged.]

[And yet, that didn't suit Fuuka all too well with those words]

Yes, you are. In fact, everyone who has managed to live this far are pretty lucky. It's just...[Mumble mumble] I wonder what would happen later on though. To those who aren't...

Yeah... that is a good question.

[He turned again.]

We should probably keep going.

[Once again, Fuuka wasn't exactly sure what to say to him. After all, with all this destruction, there was only one thing she could say to him]

All right then but where are we going? If that's okay to ask...?

Further in, I guess. I was headed that way when the scene changed. Maybe, going in further will help us figure out what's going on.

Perhaps but I wonder where we can go for now. It just seems like destruction no matter where we look!

Maybe we'll see something... I mean, this wasn't just here. It sort of appeared. So, if we keep going, I'm hoping it'll change.

[He nodded towards the direction he wanted to go again.]

C'mon. There's only one way to find out.

[Fuuka wasn't sure if she likes where this was going but she'll follow Duo anyway as a just in case should anything happen to him. Although, the more she continued to walk, the more started to get uneasy.

However, it started to become more primer when she heard some golf nearby]

Did...Did you hear that? I could have sworn I heard...

[Laughing...?]

[The sound was definitely different over here. Duo was curious, and he nodded to her.]

Let's go look.

[After all, it would get them away from his place, at least.]

[However, as Fuuka continued to follow Duo, the laughing only got louder. She didn't know what was going on but whatever it was?

The laughter sure sounded a lot like her]

Are you sure that it'll be a good idea? It's starting to sound like it might not be? Although, I can try to sense it but...

[It doesn't erase how creepy it sounded or why it sounds so much like her own voice]

We'll be fine. Just stick together.

[He nodded and gave her a reassuring smile, not thinking about it much beyond that. If all this stuff was an illusion and not really here after all, then they shouldn't have much to worry about, right? He hoped...]

[Despite his attempts at reassuring her, it didn't do much. Instead, she kept on mumbling and trying to figure out where the source of that laughter was coming from. Even with all her scanning abilities, she couldn't detect anything.

Although, the more they walked, a voice suddenly spoke up]

My, my. It must be nice to always have someone protect you, isn't it? You just can't do anything by yourself can you?

[At that moment, Fuuka just froze. That voice...it sounded so much like her own!]

Huh?

[Duo stopped when she did. Similar, sure... but that tone was pretty malicious and not like the girl with him at all. She had a much nicer way of speaking. He frowned, his brow creasing.]

Who's there?

[The voice didn't respond back. Instead, it left them in silence as the girl just started mumbling to herself]

I...I don't know what's going on but I don't like it! [With that, she looked back at Duo before walking past him]

We need to get out of here as fast as we can. I don't know what's happening but...it can't be good.

[Nevermind the loud giggling heard from the distance]

[Duo made a face, confused.]

Alright. If you say so. I'm thinkin' this is your thing this time. Not mine.

[He followed, trusting her judgment on this one.]

[With each step that Fuuka took, she wasn't sure too how to react. Knowing that there might be something out there that could potentially hurt the both of them...?]

You can't keep on running forever! You might have someone to help you out but it's useless, you know that!

[Even though Fuuka was trying to ignore her, that didn't stop the girl from feeling like she was running out of air to breath. Which was why it didn't take her long to fall down to her knees from the stress she felt]

[Duo crouched next to her.]

It's just a voice, right? Nothing's happening?

[As she tried to get up once she managed to catch her breath, she looked back up at Duo before looking around the area]

I...I think so? But whatever it was, I don't think that was just a voice. It sounded...dangerous?

[He frowned a little.]

It kinda sounded like you...

[He knew it wasn't her, really, but he couldn't deny the similarity in the voice.]

[For a moment, Fuuka didn't respond back. Instead, she kept her gaze downward trying to figure out what to say]

Which is why I'm wondering if it is as dangerous as it sounds. If it sounds like me then...I don't know what their intentions are.

Do you wanna keep moving or stay and find out?

[Because Duo was prepared to fight if they had to.]
