[But Estelles are high in protein, and the discerning Pokemon will surely know that health value is a greater consideration than taste alone.

It's probably a good idea to be on guard. Even in the outskirts of the forest, there's something eerie and not altogether appealing about it. At this time of year, the forests around Union are brilliant red and gold, the ground and trees coated with vibrant colors. The best the Wildwood can manage is a muddy brownish-yellow. The pigments have apparently decided they've had a good go at it and retired to try again the next year.

Crunch, crunch, crunch... Her steps can't help but broadcast her approach to anything in the vicinity and she'll be faced with a strange silence. Up ahead, there's a fork in the road. Both paths look equally drab. There's also a faintly rank smell in the air - a bit like rotten eggs.]

What's... that smell?

[Adol the Eevee just buries his nose in Estelle's skirt to hide his face. Screw this, it stinks. He's leaving this to her. Estelle sighs, before she starts walking again, looking around a bit -- looks like the leaves are changing colors? -- and finally decides to pick the left path. Her dad told her, once, to always go left when in doubt.]

[She considers and dismisses the idea that he may have been joking.]

[Nope, still stinks.

As a matter of fact, it somehow stinks even worse. Looks like she's approaching the source of this smell. Incredibly enough, if she tries to switch paths, the smell still gets stronger. It's almost like the source of this smell is actually a living thing and following her somehow!

....................Oops wait.]

[...oh no.]

[Estelle's eyes bolt open when she realizes that the smell, despite her efforts, isn't going away. Finally, she whirls around suddenly, to face her stinky doom fate!]

W-Who's there!?

[Don't be so paranoid Estelle! There's nothing when she turns around.

...Well, besides this really amazingly beautiful flower in the middle of a bush, but that should be a cause for celebration rather than alarm. It's not every day you see a blossom that size!]

Oooh, pretty! But a pretty flower like you doesn't deserve to be in a stinky place like this!

[She trudges closer... to rescue the flower. It can't end well. She reaches a hand out, slowly...]

[So... uh, pretty....... Yeah.

Yeah no the flower spits a cloud of poison dust into Estelle's face as soon as she makes contact with it.]

KYAAH!

[Estelle spits and leaps back, rubbing at her eyes quickly, and groaning aloud. Adol the Eevee just looks at this, then shakes his head. Not cool, man. Not cool.]

Gloooo.....

[A mobile flower creature awkwardly shuffles out of the bush! ...It blinks at Estelle for a few moments before attempting to awkwardly shuffle away. She probably isn't too tasty after all. Too much fabric and other inedibles.]

[Oh God, it's a Pokemon! And it's... leaving? Estelle stares at it for a moment, before she feels bad for saying it stinks. Clearly, it was the source of the odor.]

Uh... sorry I called you stinky, Mr. Flower!

[Gloom turns around and looks... gloomily at Estelle and Adol. Well, that's OK. It thought they might be good prey, but it doesn't look like they're bugs or anything on its usual diet.

What are they even doing in a place like this?]

We were just looking around and--er--noticed you.

[Because of the odor.]

I'm kinda new here and never really saw a flower -- uh, Pokemon? -- like you before.

[Saaa... Really? The forest is filled with flowers like it, you know? Gloom twirls a little and sends poison dust scattering everywhere. Usually... they left each other alone because it was bad manners to step into your friend's hunting areas.

It looks at Estelle a little regretfully. It's too bad she's so big and lumpy.]

[When you grow up in the desert, flowers are always amaaaaaazing~]

[Estlle nods cheerfully at the Gloom, considering for a moment, before she grins knowingly.]

Aw, you're a big cutey!

[Despite the smell.]

Gloom turns a little bit reddish around the edges and reaches up to fluff its flower for a bit. The odor markedly improves! Look at that.]

Yep. Totally an amazing, cute flower!

[Well. It's glad it didn't decide to try to eat her after all. Not everyone... can really appreciate it, you know?

Gloom will hesitate for a moment before slowly plodding back to its original bush and rummaging around for a few moments.]

[Estelle takes a couple steps closer, looking down at what the Gloom's poking at.]

[It's a flower!

...An actually pretty flower. It is Gloom's favorite kind of flower and in memory of this encounter, she should keep it.]

Aw! You're the best!

[She reaches out, and pats the Gloom on the head. She beams down at him, before she looks back at him, considering.]

Hey. You wanna come with me? I can show you cool pretty flowers in other places, I bet. And places without pretty flowers that'd really appreciate one like you!

Mmm...?

[Come with her? ...Gosh that's a lot to ask for a first meeting. Gloom hesitates a little bit.

Do all of her people really like flowers like Gloom?]

Don't worry! If anyone tries to be mean to you, I'll take care of them. But I have a feeling you'll be a big hit!

[She nods, cheerful as can be.]

[Gloom pulls a little bit at its flower again as if a little nervous and the odor returns...!

Very briefly, though.

After a moment or two, Gloom will nod shyly before reaching out for Estelle's hand.]
