[Kyoko liked to explore places she'd never been before. The northern wetlands was no exception. It might not be a tropical paradise like the island, but it was still an adventure. She was honestly curious what she might find, although she had an ulterior motive as well.

She might be traveling alone, but she has her Pokémon on call via warp band should she need them.]

[Definitely not a tropical paradise from Kyoko's perspective, although some others may beg to differ.

Kyoko doesn't have long to go before adventure finds her. Inevitably, she will hear the rustling of marsh weeds, and the gentle ripple of the waters... though if she turns to look she will find nothing directly visible.]

[Those sounds don't go unnoticed. One hand instinctively goes to rest on her spear, which is folded up at her waist as she looks around for the source of the noise. Either she's up against a ghost, or whatever's keeping her company is hiding pretty well.]

[There is another sound as of a rattle... and with astounding speed, something leaps out of the water with fangs bared and tail ready to strike!

Seviper slams hard with a Poison Tail!]

[If it weren't for that sound, the snake pokémon might've had a little more success in its attack.

That said, Kyoko's ready and waiting for it with Detect, her spear swirling around almost like some sort of shield. This thing's got guts, though. She likes that.]

[Meh.

Seviper swings around and immediately attempts to use the length of its body to coil around Kyoko to prevent her from wielding her weapon. In practice, it translates to a Wring Out.

Its eyes gleam with a certain fierceness as it examines its would-be prey.]

[It has some moderate success in coiling around Kyoko, but it won't be enough to bring her down. She's spent years training herself for one moment, and this isn't going to stop her.

She responds by sprouting flames from her body in a sort of half Flame Charge. Just...without the charging.]

[Prey on fire is slightly discouraging! She should totally stop that. Seviper loosens just enough so it's not seriously burned before shoving itself right up into her face... and throwing out a Glare.

It seems fairly intent on having hairless Mankey tonight for dinner.]

[At least it's smart enough to not keep trying to constrict her like that. She's not a fan of feeling her muscles start to freeze up from that glare, though.

Her own glaring might not have any effect, but a Psycho Shift might.]

[Aaaaaawww snap.

It's pretty clear that Seviper literally has no idea what to do when somehow through dark and arcane magicks its 100% effective paralysis attack paralyzes itself.

Its expression is also priceless as it topples over.]

[That look is pretty priceless. Kyoko stretches a little, shaking off the feelings of paralysis now that she's no longer bothered by it. However, this thing is pretty gutsy and strong.

So she goes ahead and activates her Warp Band.]

Hey. You wanna come with me? You can't beat me, but I can help you grow stronger.

[Boooo. Booooo this is not how this encounter was supposed to end. Also it's still hungry.

Seviper grumbles a little and twitches as its turn is taken away from it by paralysis.

How did she even do that?]

[Seviper snorts some more before eventually coming up with something close to the lines of grudging assent.
