The vast wilderness beckons! Beginning January 25th, 2014, all wild Pokémon threads that aren't incorporated as part of another post should go here. You are still welcome to include a section for bonding with wild Pokémon as a part of another entry or a log, but we encourage isolated wild Pokémon threads to go here to prevent flooding of the main comm with entries specifically geared to only cover wild Pokémon threads.

Crater Plains

[Sure, sure everyone's been telling her she shouldn't go out alone, but she's never alone when she has her Pokemon, right? And if she had to wait to find someone to go out with every time she wanted to leave the city, she'd never get any new Pokemon! Union wasn't as bad or as boring as she'd feared, but that didn't mean she liked staying within its walls all the time.

And besides. Her Pokemon were awesome and strong, so of course they could take on anything! Even the Pokemon of Crater Plains]

[It is easy to see how the Crater Plains received their name. The pockmarked land is fine silt, someplace halfway been dirt and sand, with enormous holes dotting the landscape. It's not entirely clear what happened here long ago, but it certainly seems as if it's possible that meteors once struck this area.

Now, though, it's a dry, arid environment between the forest and the desert. There's nothing in sight... at least for the moment. Nothing here is quite foolish enough to wander around in broad daylight.]

[No one except one pink-haired young girl and her Pokemon at least. They make an odd sight, but she keeps leading them on.]

Come on guys, this place can't be that bad!

[She's getting tired though. Sand's hard to walk on]

[Eventually, Chibiusa and friends may spot an attractive looking patch of slightly greener soil up ahead. It might be a good idea to head towards firmer, livelier ground if they're in search of Pokemon.

At the same time, the largest crater yet looms to their right, so big that vast swaths of it are shrouded in shadow despite the high sun.]

Mur Mur!

[Licorice is the first to notice the greener area, and after circling the rest of them a few times, he arrows off towards it, pursued by Sugar Cookie. On the ground, Chibiusa breaks into a run to follow]

[Right at the border of sand and grass, the ground suddenly sinks beneath their feet as they run straight into the trap.

It's Sand Tomb! Chibiusa and her ground-bound Pokemon are quickly ensnared! Feet away, the ground shakes before something monstrous explodes out from it!

Not looking good!]

[Chibiusa screams as she falls, her eyes widening as she she stares at the Krookodile. Licorice dives in with a Wing Attack, but Sugar Cookie just circles around, watching the battle. ]

Bubblegum! Kinoko! We need to stay together!

[Kasugai at least is still clinging to her shoulder, trying to use Fairy Wind against the Krookodile.]

[In the background, Chibiusa may be able to make out the sand continuing to shift as one after another, smaller creatures begin to dig their way up, eager to see what they have caught.

The Fairy Wind is effective, but for the powerful Krookodile, it's only a light sting. It leaps up towards Licorice as it attempts to attack and catches it in its mouth with a Crunch.

Chibiusa has a few options now - she can continue to fight, though the prospects don't look terribly good, she can call for help, or she can attempt to negotiate.]

[Chibiusa manages to get her Warp Band activated and makes a call for help. Meanwhile, Licorice lets out a cry of distress as the Krookodile's Crunch clamps down on his tail feathers.]

Let him go! [Chibiusa's yell is equal parts fear and anger.]

[Krookodile does not seem keen to do so, reaching up now to try and pull Licorice out of the sky. They haven't seen such plump, juicy specimens in a long time; it's going to be hard to decide which to consume first...

Licorice is tossed back towards the Sandile to take care of while Krookodile advances towards the girl and the rest of her Pokemon with slavering jaws.

Carnivores gotta eat.]

[Though Sugar Cookie is a very self-centered Pokemon usually, he dives in with Air Cutter at the Krookodile. Flying Pokemon gotta stick together after all.

On the ground, Bubblegum is spraying Bullet Seed around, trying to keep the Sandile back. Even Kinoko's gotten into the fight, though his contribution is mostly just occasional puffs of Stun Spore, while he hunkers down and tried to look like a totally out of place mushroom.

Chibiusa swallows hard as the Krookodile advances, and then pulls herself up as straight as possible, and puts her fists on her hips.]

Leave us alone, you big bully!

[The Sandile crawl towards the struggling Licorice, and though the Air Cutter strikes one of them, the rest quickly retaliate by leaping up into the air and landing Bites of their own. Bullet Seed is marginally more effective at keeping them back, but the Sandile continue to Bite away, chomping down especially on the delicious-looking mushroom.

In the meantime, the fight has become too intense; Krookodile seems too riled up now to listen to anything Chibiusa has to say. With a whip of its tail, it launches a stream of sand towards her to blind her before launching forward to drag her down into the sand.]

[Kinoko lets out a shriek as the Sandile Bite him, the sound bringing tears to Chibiusa's eyes. It was scary enough that the Pokemon were attacking her, but they were hurting her friends. She lets out a shriek of her own as the sand is flung at her and she falls to her knees, her own Dazzling Gleam power bursting out of its own accord. Bubblegum renews her attacks, trying to protect Chibiusa while Kasugai tries to make soothing noises as she flings out a Petal Blizzard of her own.]

Someone please hurry! [It's more sob than actual words, and the Warp Band connection was cut off in her fall, but there seems to be little more she can do. Except pray, which she also does]

((Rescuers may respond after this!))

[Krookodile certainly doesn't expect the flash of light and lets go of her in its haste! Dazzling Gleam also has the added benefit of striking multiple Pokemon, so the closest Sandile are dazed for a moment, too.

But the level of this Pokemon is just far too high; with another roar, it's lunging to knock her out altogether with an Outrage...!]

[It's at this point that Lenna shows up astride her Dodrio, Boco, running at a breakneck pace in an effort to save Chibiusa before the rampaging Pokemon can get to her. Boco is utterly exhausted by the time he arrives, but he's done his job well. Lenna jumps off his back, sending him back via Warp Band before summoning Bartz the Jumpluff, Gilgamesh the Simipour, and Pumpkaboo the... Pumpkaboo.]

...I got here as fast as I could! Hurry, get behind me while my Pokemon distract them!

[Rei is not far behind, swooping down on Olympus Mons and calling out her Kingler. Moeris flops down and scuttles protectively between the girl and the Dark type as the Charizard wings over and prepares to breathe out a fireball.]

Get down, Chibiusa!

[Chibiusa is already mostly down, but she flattens herself against the sand at Rei's shout. And then, because she's not an idiot and really, really just wants to get back to Union, she starts crawling towards Lenna, hoping the attacking hordes won't notice her in favor of the new threat.

[What's this?

Before Krookodile can strike, the Kingler has scurried in front, but it's undeterred. The Outrage slams into Moeris instead of Chibiusa, which incidentally probably does more damage than it originally would have given that the moderator forgot Outrage was a Dragon-type move. Against the remainder of the foes, the Sandiles exchange a look before quickly stirring up a Sandstorm to veil the area in harsh winds and blowing sand.]

Bartz, use Rage Powder to distract them! Pumpkaboo, Razor Leaf on the Sandile! Gilgamesh, hit the Krookodile with a Scald attack!

[Despite the sandstorm, Bartz the Jumpluff employs its Rage Powder to draw the ire of the attacking hordes. Hopefully Lenna's other Pokemon along with Rei's can take it out while it's distracted. Meanwhile, Pumpkaboo sends a torrent of leaves into the sandstorm, hoping to hit at least one of the Sandile with its Razor Leaf attack, while Gilgamesh the Simipour fires a torrent of Scalding water at the Krookodile.]

[Kingler retreats into his shell as the Outrage comes at him, the power of the move almost cracking his Protect...but...not enough. And Rei calls out the others she had with her...]

Tithonius! Rain Dance, clear up that weather, Ceres...Energy Ball, and Helennes, wait for your chance.

[The trio of Pokemon, a Jellicent, Treecko, and Gyarados all go to comply. Rain begins to fall, the wind and water doing their darndest to fight back against the sandstorm as the little lizard dives out of the sky like a small green meteor. It fires off a blast of greenish energy at the Krookodile as well, hoping to drive it off with the sheer ferocity of the offensive. Hungry predators, in her experience, hated things that fought back too hard.]

[Chibiusa in the meantime is moving as fast as she can away from the battle, her Pokemon following suit, though many of them are slowed by their injuries. She can't help whimpering at seeing how badly her friends have been damaged by her own overconfidence.]

[The lack of effect of the Outrage means that Krookodile isn't confused, at the very least. It scowls and moves to attempt to Crunch down on the Kingler before it pauses mid-bite.

...Annoyingly, there were too many of them now.

With a great huff, the Krookodile leaves the party, followed by each Sandile in turn. As they go, every one of them sends out a heavy Earthquake that smashes the ground-bound members of the rescue team; the Pokemon disappear down into the earth without a trace.]

((Chibiusa has been rescued! Unfortunately, due to the failed roll to the Danger, she and her Pokemon will be mildly to moderately injured for the remainder of the week and will be unable to attempt bonding again until next week. Rescuers may incur injuries if they wish.))
