You are still welcome to include a section for bonding with wild Pokémon as a part of another entry or a log, but we encourage isolated wild Pokémon threads to go here to prevent flooding of the main comm with entries specifically geared to only cover wild Pokémon threads.

A recently-explored area was not an area that everything was known about. There were several gaps in what was known about the Pokémon population of the Crater Plains, for example, and Apollo had volunteered to take another trip there to see what else he could find out. Thus he was here, desert robes blowing slightly in a hot breeze, walking between the craters with his mental awareness extended to try and sense any approaching minds. Who knows what strange Pokémon might be found here?

As usual, there's all sorts of activity happening beneath - or camouflaged within - the sands and the dirt. The great indents in the earth provide ready-made habitats for many species of Pokemon, and he'll find that he'll have better luck finding Pokemon if he ventures inside the craters.

Apollo is soon aware of the pattern, and after satisfying himself that there aren't any Pokémon outside of the craters in the immediate area, he picks the calmest-feeling of the nearby craters and quietly climbs its rim to see what's inside.

Nothing!

...Well, nothing at first sight. When Apollo glances a little closer, however, he might be able to detect occasional signs of movement. Even closer investigation will reveal that there are creatures well-camouflaged and half-buried in the sand, the only sign of their existence the occasional black stripe that's out of place.

Of course, if he walks close enough, he might just find this out first-hand by being attacked.

Tromping in without getting a lay of the land first would be foolish, and Apollo isn't foolish when it comes to this kind of thing. He stops on the rim to look for signs of the Pokémon he knows are there, seeing the black stripes when he does. Instead of approaching once he sees them, he instead projects a mental greeting and a promise that he isn't there with the intent to cause them harm.

As Apollo approaches and sends out his mental message, he will be met with sluggish expressions of surprise. Since when did potential prey advertise their arrival in advance?

Whether or not he meant harm, they had to eat... Of course, that's not something they actually want to express to him.

Potential prey that is confident in his ability to deal with the situation, but zen enough about predator-prey relationships that he wouldn't have regrets if he were on the wrong end of them.

Apollo doesn't approach or retreat, but asks if the Pokémon can reveal itself so he can see who he's talking to.

It's clear enough the longer he stares! The camouflaged Ground-types taking a midday siesta in the sun...

Wild Krokorok are lazily sprawled all around the crater!

Apollo complements them on their camouflage. They look like pretty impressive predators.

Most of the Krokorok are not too interested in exchanging pleasantries and seem vaguely annoyed that he has some sort of cheating psychic power or something, but one nearby will shift out of the sand and dirt and bother to respond.

They are pretty amazing, it's true. It doubts whether or not there's a stronger predator out there - at least, in comparison to when they become fully mature.
