The Depths of Gigas

While Union was happy to agree to a ceasefire with Gigas and treat with them in earnest, it seems the Seekers have held some suspicions of the great Empire for awhile now. And thus, enlisting in the help of a few hand-picked Union agents, they stole into the deepest vaults of Gigas, hoping to recover items of great power and learn the truth about the city’s purported guardian gods.

[He felt a little bad about not being able to contribute to this planning party, but his specialty leaned itself towards punching holes in things. He nods and follows Rise's lead, keeping his guard up.]

[Rose holds a hand out, then a swirl of darkness forms over the first camera. She'll leave more to Lux -- coordinating, quickly and silently, to make sure all of the cameras nearby are obscured.]

[Ezreal pops open the console and works furiously, using his Electric typing to try to crack it quickly. If he can, he'll reverse the playback to prior recorded footage, but he won't go too deep if it looks like he won't be successful. Either way, as the guard passes he'll blink behind him, into another blindspot]

[ The guard passes by without noticing anything amiss. No alarms go off about the cameras, either, though with the number of guards here it's only a matter of time before their paths cross again.

Moving forward appears to be a go for now. ]

We need to move now if we're going to make this work. Standing around and deciding leaves us open to another situation like that.

Let's do this.

[As long as the cameras were blocked, they should go... now. Duo nodded. If they were all ready to move, he was, too, and he'd start going.]

[Rise heads along with the group as quietly as she can, keeping her mind on her powers to get a sense for how and where the guards are moving so she can give a telepathic warning if they start to converge on them.]

[Ezreal will keep to the shadows, using his teleportation if needed to avoid detection but scouting a bit ahead of the main party]

[Rose falls in near the back; she'll take the rear and keep an eye out while they move, should a patrol sneak up on them.]

[Hayato ends up not far from Rose, trying to keep his eyes where he can in the case of an ambush.]

[ And holding up the rear is Lux, bending the light around her as she moves to avoid detection. ]

[ They're doing well. They're doing really well! With this many people able to sense danger, the group manages to make their way down the hallways.

Finally they find themselves facing a large pair of sliding doors - stepping in front of them has no effect. There's a small number pad mounted on the wall next to said doors.

About ten paces down the hallway from the giant doors, they also passed a small room (its own door shut) with a few humans in it, but nobody in there is headed out right away. Yet they could, at the slightest sound of a commotion. ]

[Ezreal is going to examine the number pad for any other access points - does it just require a pin or is there a keycard slot?]

[At this point, Rise has switched to mental communication with the team - too much chance of being overheard. Everyone should more or less be able to communicate the same way using her as a kind of relay, hopefully.]

Uh oh. Uh, anyone better at reading minds than I am? Those guys down the hall probably know how to get in here.

tell me if this is total bullshit, it felt like a stretch for Dark-type powers and I can redo it!!

[Rose peers over Ezreal's shoulder, before she looks at the door. She looks at Rise -- her eyes widen, hearing someone's voice in her head -- but she gets the idea and tries thinking back. Hopefully it works.]

Not me. I might have an idea, though.

[Sometimes, she checks where a guard patrol is with a little powder. Sprinkle it down, shine a light over it, and it'll show footsteps. She reaches into a pouch on her belt, and dusts a little powder over the buttons. Then she holds a hand up -- and uses her Dark-type powers to, basically, shine a blacklight on it.]

Sorry, I'm about as psychic as a rock.

[He can, however, stand protectively with his back to the ones examining the pin pad in the off chance someone spots them. He's at the very least a pretty good tank.]

[ It's definitely a pin pad, no slot for a card. Closer examination with Rose's makeshift blacklight reveals worn fingerprints on the 0, 5, and 1 keys only - but there's room for four digits on the display.

The door down the hall opens. Nobody comes out yet - just the sound of someone asking "do you ever not need coffee?" - but they might need Hayato sooner rather than later if they don't get this door open. ]

[Rise thinks about it very quickly and then tries 1005 on a hunch. If a wrong combination doesn't set off alarms, and that doesn't work, she tries 1015, 1050 and 1051 in quick succession.]

[Rose is relieved that worked -- but she frowns, and waits, to see the results of Rise's efforts.]

You should see which ones are worn down the most. That's probably the one that is used twice.

[Duo shifted over, watching for anyone coming.]

[Ezreal is on standby for now, probing with his Psychic abilities to watch for incoming danger]

[ The pin pad beeps but sets off no alarms. The door also doesn't open.

Per Duo's instructions, the "0" is far more worn than the other digits, as if it's not only been pressed twice, but also pressed fervently, as would befit either the first or last digit, or both.

"Did you hear something?" asks one guard.

"Relax," says the one who'd had opinions about his companion's coffee habits. "This is a lot of work for a rock."

But a shadow falls in the doorway anyway. ]

[As Rise hammers in guesswork into the code pad, she desperately tries to think of another way to delay the guards for a few more seconds. Trying something she never has before, she attempts to telepathically connect to the man in the doorway and, instead of projecting her telepathic voice, just tries to communicate the idea of "cream and sugar".]

[Rose is looking back up the hall, letting Rise work; her hands are on her daggers' hilts though.]

[Likewise, Hayato has his hand on the hem of his glove, tense, in the event of a fight.]

[ Holding her breath, Lux holds her staff tightly, beginning to focus, ready to throw out an attack at a moment's notice. Come on, Rise... ]
