The Depths of Gigas

While Union was happy to agree to a ceasefire with Gigas and treat with them in earnest, it seems the Seekers have held some suspicions of the great Empire for awhile now. And thus, enlisting in the help of a few hand-picked Union agents, they stole into the deepest vaults of Gigas, hoping to recover items of great power and learn the truth about the city’s purported guardian gods.

[ 1500 gets it! The door hisses open just as one of the men is asking about coffee condiments and being told they're in the cabinet, same as always, are you sure you should be working security.

Except they're out of sugar.

"There's some in my locker," one of the guards says, and a foot sticks out of that door. The guard isn't looking this way, but with the door open, that can't last. ]

[Rise yanks and/or shoves the door open as quickly as she can and mentally beckons everyone else but Hayato to go ahead of her.]

Now's the part where we run inside. Go go go.

[No argument from Rose. She hustles!]

[And that's fine, he waits until everyone is inside before he's quick to slide in after Rise, keeping his eyes on their back as he does.]

[Hopefully there's not much to worry about guard wise on the inside.]

[Duo had never consciously tried to be invisible before, but he always had this knack for going unnoticed when he really tried. He wasn't sure if he could keep the others "hidden" with him, but he tried to focus on moving forward and being unseen by the guards, trying to will it with his thoughts that they'd just all get by without getting caught.]

[ No guards on the inside, no! Just a platform atop which, crisscrossed by mysterious beams of red light, a mysterious stone is resting. Just as the Seekers had predicted. There's even a door on the other side of this room marked "Exit" so they don't have to go back the way they came...

"Hey," asks one guard to another. "Was somebody supposed to be checking up on It tonight?" ]

That looks like what we're here for.

[Rose starts towards the door, but she hesitates when she hears the guards speaking. She raises an eyebrow. Is "It" the stone? Or... or something else?]

Careful guys. There's probably alarms or something.

[She has no idea what the red beams are, that's just common sense. She does reach out with her mind to attempt to sense danger from the room - unlikely unless there's guards or Pokémon hidden here, but it couldn't hurt.]

Uh, not to be Typist, but maybe one of the Dark-types should have a look?

[Duo winked over his shoulder at Rise and then looked over the red beams, looking for emitters, potential power sources, and gaps to sneak through. Between his mixed Dark and Ghost typing, he was pretty sure he could sneak in there to grab it, but the Engineer in him wanted to make sure there wasn't any trap or alarm he could trigger. He also knew they were short on time. He could hear the voices not far away, so they had to move quick.

He wanted to be sure everything would be clear first, though, because moving fast didn't mean they had room for mistakes and setting off alarms. So he did his best to make sure it was safe before acting.

He debated between using Thief and Shadow Sneak, or some combination of the two, but then decided on Thief.]

[ The use of an item-stealing move, especially since Duo's navigating the gaps, is effective! But as soon as the stone is removed from the pedestal, all those red lights begin flickering and a timer appears, floating in the air. It's counting down from 30 by the second.

A guard heads up to the door, squinting in the darkness of the room. "Hey," they call in. "Were we supposed to be adjusting this tonight?"

Fortunately that's not the only exit, but... ]

[And indeed, Rose sure is making for the exit. Quick as possible. Because no thank you to guards discovering her. This will end badly.]

"Yeah, and can I get a second? I need to concentrate on this," Rise calls back to the guard before immediately booking for the exit door as quietly as possible.

[Yup. That was their cue. Duo was headed for the door as well, hoping it was open. He slipped the stone in question into his pocket, zipping it closed as he quietly ran towards the exit.]
