The Situation in Glacier

The rescuers have been allowed a night's rest following their arrival on the outskirts of Glacier. Though there is ample evidence of their enemy's presence in the form of burning buildings and ruined settlements, the creature itself appears to have wandered off briefly to wreak havoc in a different corner of the frozen tundra. Or perhaps it was taking a brief siesta following so much exertion - murder and destruction was tiring work. Whatever the case, it seems to be an opportune time to descend into the city and assist those remaining there.

If they are brave, they might even try to take back the city itself. But the primary goal, of course, is to save as many people as possible before the great dragon returned.

The few people of Glacier who had guided them this far point out the less-traveled paths by which it may be possible to enter the city unnoticed. It is determined that they will fan out in groups, both in search of survivors and in search of the companions of the dragon who had so effectively laid waste to the city. Perhaps they might still gain the upper hand.

[Our intrepid heroes will find themselves stuck out doing the most noble of tasks. The favorite duty of soldiers everywhere. Reconnaissance.

After some time spent trudging through the snowy wasteland, the group will hear the sounds of a scuffle in the distance. Shouts of alarm and fear, the whine of energy being discharged, and the roar of flames. It sounds like it's coming from near one of the burned hamlets, judging by the smoke curling up into the sky. Could there be survivors in danger? Or could it be a trap by the enemy?]

[Through the snowy trek and all through their venture, the foxy lady was all awe and amazement, even in the midst of all the sour news and chaotic happenings of their mission. After all, this was someplace completely new to her and it was clear that she might have been enjoying that fact a bit too much!

That said, she didn't forget why they were here and at the sounds of trouble she laid low to avoid being spotted as they neared the place.]

Something's up...

[She voiced in a whisper to the group behind her as she had moved up to take point and check things out. While still on the ground, she peeked over and pointed in the direction of the burned hamlet and looked to the group to see what their next move would be.]

[Teddie, being the cowardly bear that he is, decided the safest place to be right now was the very back of the group with Bernard, the Marowak, who remained rather close to his Cubchoo trainer.]

Grizzlies... [He takes a step to the side to look past everyone and get a better look of the hamlet.] Y-yeah. Th-that doesn't seem pleasant! Looks like those grizzlies might still be bearound! [He could only take a guess, for no amount of sniffing would help. The only thing that could accomplish would be informing them of what they already know. There was fire nearby.]

APPRIVOISE!

[Takuto wastes no time as psychic white armor forms around his body, blasts of psychic energy propelling him forward. He's not wasting any time, if it's a trap he'll just punch right through it!]

[ Sanae would have been just as happy staying in the back line but, seeing the smoke plume, then seeing Takuto take off, the priestess watched, startled. ]

T-Takuto, wait up!

[ Kicking up a wind around her, she took off after him, eyes glowing a blazing amber. Pulling a few talismans from her sleeve, they flew from her grasp, floating in a ring around her. ]

Grandma always said that where there's smoke, there's fire. And where there's fire, something is cooking.

[ Tendou follows closely behind Takuto. No need for any psychic propulsion, he's just quick on his feet. Walking straight into a trap? Why not? Being quick on his feet is more than a literal statement. ]

Them being around is exactly what I'm counting on.

[Scouting was pretty lame, and Duo, while good at being silent and sneaky, wasn't thrilled with just scout and report. But then "Psychic Energy Boy" had to make a run for it.

Duo made a face. So much for a plan of attack first. Takuto had just ruined their element of surprise. Now, they were just going to have to do this the hard way.]

I guess we're going in.

[The Rotom next to him almost buzzed with excitement... until it got distracted by a snowflake. The Growlithe whined a little and rolled over, melting some of the snow around him.]

Aw, c'mon, guys. [Duo attempted to get the Rotom to focus while 'encouraging' the Growlithe to stop being lazy.] Let's go!

[The Houndoom was happy to oblige, bounding forward and melting snow without a problem while the Duskull just silently hovered along behind Duo as he charged in with the others.]

[Well it's a good thing the group does decide to go. Because it looks like they're stumbling onto a burning farmhouse on the edge of one of those small settlements just outside the main city. A ring of hooded figures, six in total and all wielding wicked looking swords, all dressed in black with orange flame patterns stands out against the white snow. They seem engaged in battle with a handful of bedraggled looking women fighting desperately to keep them away from the front of the house.

Joining in the melee are a few Fire typed Pokemon, a Charmeleon, Blaziken, Magmar, and Typhlosion that are dueling with a pair of Gallade. The Gallade seem to be holding off the group by working in tandem, but definitely getting the worse wear.]

Oh, well... Guess that's our plan!

[Without a moment's hesitation after the group bounded forward, Ahri set quickly right after them. Blue fireballs appeared around her and orbited her form as she sped up to catch up.

Kid on the other hand, while agile, took a bit more time, not wanting to leave Teddy too far behind. He never left anyone behind, that's just who Kid was.]

Let's fire things up~!

[Soon as she reached the combat, Ahri readied herself to assist in whatever way she can, firstly looking towards the group defending themselves.]

Waaah! Don't leave my beary butt behind! [Unfortunately, Teddie isn't as quick as everyone else and would be the last one arriving at the scene. He's glad that Kid stuck around though, since Bernard was intent of joining the fray as soon as possible.

Once he's arrived, the Marowak did not wait for a command from his trainer. Instead, he would take it upon himself to focus on the largest enemy Pokemon there, the Blaziken. It was always assumed that the biggest one was always the greatest threat. So without hesitation, Bernard would send a Bonemerang flying right in the direction of the oversized chicken.]

Star Sword! Emeraude! Star Sword! Sapphir!

[Two shining blades of energy, one green and one blue emerge as Takuto leaps into the fray, slashing in a wide arc at the nearest cloaked figures with two clean slashes]

[ Arching upward into the air to get a better vantage point, Sanae assessed the situation. Hey, those women, they were a lot like...

Never mind, that didn't matter right now. Raising her gohei into the air, the wind that kept her aloft swirling around her, the priestess summoned an orb of water. Pointing her gohei at the Fire-type troops, she let the torrent fly. ]

Leave them alone!

[ Tendou quickly took in all the information he could. The Pokemon battle on one side was pitched against them, but they could hold out for now. Picking on unarmed women on the other hand, is unforgivable, so that would be where he focused his energies on for now. ]

Sora, Taiyou. Make some space.

[ The Aerodactyl and Larvesta burst out from his Warp Band, and are ready to get to work. An Ancient Power from the Rock-type levitating and lobbing rocks at the swordsmen while a String Shot from the Bug-type was tied them down.

Failing that, at least a bunch of rocks and silk could build a wall and force them to face the Union team. ]

Shin... Confuse Ray those guys attacking the women.

Skuuuulllll... [The Duskull moved in to do so, heading for the hooded figures.]

Solo, Shocker... go help those Gallades.

[The Rotom vibrated with excitement and zipped off. Duo hoped it would keep its focus with Solo along. Solo also ran off with it, howling out a loud 'Doooooom' as he ran.]

C'mon, Fluff.

[The Growlithe reluctantly followed.]

Groowwwll. Ithe ithe!

Roar!

[Growlithe let out a loud Roar as they charged in.]

[The Bonemerang conks the Blaziken on the head, sending it spinning! It does a doubletake and throws out an Incinerate right back!

The energy swords bite into the nearest two guys, and throw them back to the ground. An ambush they weren't ready for? Oooffff. Sanae's orb of water washes away the slowest of the fire types, downing the Magmar and throwing up a hissing wall of steam...which gives the Gallades time to take the offensive. They can sense their targets locations, after all...! Thanks Sanae!

The swordsmen are thrown back, caught off guard by the Ancient Power, and the String Shot binds them up, which gives the (not at all unarmed) women time to go in.]

FIGHT, FRIENDS! TAKE THE ADVANTAGE!

[The leader, a woman with mane of unkempt, ruddy gold hair lets out a battlecry and she and her allies charge forward, swinging obviously Enhanced axes. The weapons glow with an assortment of lights, pale electric blues and vibrant greens, casting weird shadows in the stained snow.

The men, taken off guard, lash out with their swords and strange powers. Duo, Takuto, and Ahri both will find themselves targeted with Scalds, superheated jets of water spraying from the tips of the swords. Sanae gets off light this time, being too far back for a retaliatory strike...]

[Being a Fire-Type herself, she did not enjoy being hit with Scald as she charged all too fast to avoid the attack. She flinched and back away in three swift hops but not before sending out a Hypnosis to cover her repositioning as well as helping out the team.

Kid, a bit hotheaded as he was, did not like Ahri being harmed and took to the offensive quickly. In lieu of the sandy surfaces he was accustomed to using, he kicked up snow into the faces of the opponents using Sand Attack when he skidded in front of them before evading away to a better vantage point and following with a long range Swift.]

[Teddie rushed to Ahri's side after she hopped back, quite concerned with how she was holding up after the attack.] Are you alright? That was some attack! [Don't these grizzlies know they're not suppose to hit a lady!?

Bernard charged forward so that he could catch the bone much sooner on its return flight. Holding up an arm, the Marowak would opt to simply power through the fire rather than dodge it, for he was going for a reckless tackle, Double-Edge, in hopes of bringing the Blaziken down quickly.]

[ With the (actually armed) women on one side and the (totally unarmed) Tendou on the other, things were looking up. It's time for this God of War to dive into the fray too!

Unarmed hardly means defenceless here, as a Mach Punch closes the distance quickly, bringing Tendou right at the closest cultist at lightning speed for a gut punch. His Pokemon are hardly going to rest on their laurels either, a Wing Attack and a Bug Bite from the Aerodactyl and Larvesta respectively charging for their targets. ]

Argh!

[Takuto takes the Scald directly, and counters with three Piles which he sends out at the attacker and attempts to slam them into him]

Auugh... [That hurt. Damn. Fluff had taken it hard, though, and fell back behind Duo, whimpering.] Easy, buddy... we can make it through this. [The water was going to get cold fast, though, and they were in freezing temperatures. That was also bad. But, with fire types, they could warm up after the battle.]

Shin... Shadow Sneak.

[The Duskull bobbed and pushed its shadow forward to attack the sword bearers.

Duo's Houndoom and Rotom, in the meantime, have now reached the Gallades. Houndoom charges in and starts biting with a Fire Fang at the Typhlosion and Rotom brings down a Thunder Shock on the Blaziken.]

[The flurry of attacks continues to have an effect on the enemy, dropping several of the men as they take it to the chin. The leader seems to square off with the woman, a sword sending up a shower of sparks as he barely turns aside an axe-blade that would have cleaved him in two.

The Blaziken stumbles, and the Typhlosion shrugs off the Fire Fang...but tries to disengage, rolling away towards the remaining humans.

Humans that seem to be pulling out a portable radio.]

We could use some cover fire and an extraction here.

[A crackle comes back, a muffled voice...and a sound echoes in the distance a moment later...Something LOUD is coming]

Running?

[Ahri voiced, now irritated and annoyed and she wanted them to hurt. Which wasn't her usual nature but she's pretty much had it. Dashing around the group, she set her sights on a possible escape route and engulfed the area and the enemy in a large Fire Spin.]

Kid, show them another Swift!

[And so Kid did, aiming to cripple their possible escape.]

[Teddie's attention turns to where the sound is coming from, and he is not liking it one bit.] Everyone! Be on you guard, it sounds like they've got some powerful grizzly as bearinforcements!

[Bernard takes the opportunity to Bone Club the Blaziken as it stumbles]

[ Tendou quickly spotted the man with the radio, and threw a string of Arm Thrusts right at both the radio and its carrier. It was too late to stop the reinforcements, but at least he could take advantage of the opening given to him when his opponents decide to start jabbering instead of just fighting.

Taiyou the Larvesta on the other hand, is just going to Bug Bite whoever is in range. ]
