The Situation in Glacier

The rescuers have been allowed a night's rest following their arrival on the outskirts of Glacier. Though there is ample evidence of their enemy's presence in the form of burning buildings and ruined settlements, the creature itself appears to have wandered off briefly to wreak havoc in a different corner of the frozen tundra. Or perhaps it was taking a brief siesta following so much exertion - murder and destruction was tiring work. Whatever the case, it seems to be an opportune time to descend into the city and assist those remaining there.

If they are brave, they might even try to take back the city itself. But the primary goal, of course, is to save as many people as possible before the great dragon returned.

The few people of Glacier who had guided them this far point out the less-traveled paths by which it may be possible to enter the city unnoticed. It is determined that they will fan out in groups, both in search of survivors and in search of the companions of the dragon who had so effectively laid waste to the city. Perhaps they might still gain the upper hand.

Argh!

[Takuto takes the Scald directly, and counters with three Piles which he sends out at the attacker and attempts to slam them into him]

Auugh... [That hurt. Damn. Fluff had taken it hard, though, and fell back behind Duo, whimpering.] Easy, buddy... we can make it through this. [The water was going to get cold fast, though, and they were in freezing temperatures. That was also bad. But, with fire types, they could warm up after the battle.]

Shin... Shadow Sneak.

[The Duskull bobbed and pushed its shadow forward to attack the sword bearers.

Duo's Houndoom and Rotom, in the meantime, have now reached the Gallades. Houndoom charges in and starts biting with a Fire Fang at the Typhlosion and Rotom brings down a Thunder Shock on the Blaziken.]

[The flurry of attacks continues to have an effect on the enemy, dropping several of the men as they take it to the chin. The leader seems to square off with the woman, a sword sending up a shower of sparks as he barely turns aside an axe-blade that would have cleaved him in two.

The Blaziken stumbles, and the Typhlosion shrugs off the Fire Fang...but tries to disengage, rolling away towards the remaining humans.

Humans that seem to be pulling out a portable radio.]

We could use some cover fire and an extraction here.

[A crackle comes back, a muffled voice...and a sound echoes in the distance a moment later...Something LOUD is coming]

Running?

[Ahri voiced, now irritated and annoyed and she wanted them to hurt. Which wasn't her usual nature but she's pretty much had it. Dashing around the group, she set her sights on a possible escape route and engulfed the area and the enemy in a large Fire Spin.]

Kid, show them another Swift!

[And so Kid did, aiming to cripple their possible escape.]

[Teddie's attention turns to where the sound is coming from, and he is not liking it one bit.] Everyone! Be on you guard, it sounds like they've got some powerful grizzly as bearinforcements!

[Bernard takes the opportunity to Bone Club the Blaziken as it stumbles]

[ Tendou quickly spotted the man with the radio, and threw a string of Arm Thrusts right at both the radio and its carrier. It was too late to stop the reinforcements, but at least he could take advantage of the opening given to him when his opponents decide to start jabbering instead of just fighting.

Taiyou the Larvesta on the other hand, is just going to Bug Bite whoever is in range. ]

((Hey guys! This is Wighty here; due to the ongoing issues following Hurricane Joaquin, I will be temporarily covering this thread. My apologies if the transition is at all bumpy! I generally will be tagging about 10-12PM EST.))

[Fighting is the last thing on their minds now - the remainder of those who follow the White Dragon are into a different F word and they flee as quickly as they can towards the source of that sound.

The Fire Spin impedes them momentarily, but they are, after all, masters of the Fire type. Typhlosion barrels through, dispersing the fire with a Bulldoze and the remaining humans follow suit. The ensuing combination of attacks takes down a few more as they go, leaving them unconscious on the ground - the radio is summarily smashed.

The group of women approaches their rescuers, their leader beginning to speak as the others bend down to dispose of the fallen attackers.]

Whoever you are... we are in your --

[Her sentence is cut off by, well. Something loud. From the tree line bursts a Magmortar and two Charizard. ...This would not be terribly alarming, but... the Charizard are a bit strange. One is jet-black - the other with odd scales and horns.]

[Takuto immediately pulls back his piles and blasts into the sky with psychic energy, slashing at the black Charizard with his twin energy blades]

[ Sanae shoots off after Takuto, talismans swirling around her as she ascended. Holding her gohei, she rests her hand behind the paper wand, unleashing another torrent of water with laser-point accuracy at the odd-scaled Charizard.

Her talismans rocket forward with her watery blast, glowing and shifting into blue star-shaped bullets of water. ]

[This was bad, but at least it looked like they had made some breathing space for the group and for the people being attacked. Even if this new threat seemed worse, they wouldn't falter.]

Kid Sand Attack, don't let them get their bearings.

[And Ahri herself joined in with another Confuse Ray aimed at the other Charizard.]

[It's terribly alarming to Teddie at least, he flails his arms frantically as they come barreling in from the tree line. Those are some strange looking Charizard!]

Bearnard! Get ready! [The Marowak doesn't need another word. He takes a moment to Focus his Energy while the others go back on the offensive.]

[ Well. Tendou already knew reinforcements were coming the moment he saw the radio. There was no avoiding it at this point. He had never seen a Charizard like that too, but there was no time to wonder what exactly was up with them.

They would have all the time in the world to find out after beating them up a bit. Which was exactly what he did, charging at the black one with a Mach Punch. ]

On your feet!

[The woman shouts as the enemies approach; the axes come out again just in time for the two great dragons to descend.

The horned one bellows loudly and from above, the scorching rays of the sun seem to intensify with the force of its Drought; Sanae's water bullets hiss and shrink as they evaporate, leaving the blow easily tanked. It seems about to attack when the Confuse Ray strikes, leaving it momentarily disoriented.

The black Charizard bears the brunt of Takuto's psychic slashes and the Mach Punch with a grunt and roar of pain; rearing back, it barrels through both of them simultaneously with a Flare Blitz meant to disperse and disorient them.

The Magmortar, untargeted this round, lumbers in from behind and takes advantage of its opportunity to launch a Lava Plume and Ahri and all of her Pokemon from its arm-cannon.]

More of 'em?

[Ugh... this was getting tiring.

Duskull moved off and used Shadow Ball on Magmortar.

Houndoom used Foul Play against the black Charizard.]

[ Well. Tendou's out. The quick and fiery response from Mega Charizard X sends him barrelling into the snow, making a conscious decision to stay away from any fire lizards in the future.

He'll have to be smarter about this next time, but at least his Pokemon are still in this.

The Aerodactyl flings an Ancient Power at the black Charizard while the Larvesta flies into it with a Double Edge, eager to take revenge for their trainer. ]

[ Her bullets didn't work? That gave the priestess pause as she raised her gohei in the sky, trying something a little different. Clouds gathered, and a slow, steady Rain began to fall. While it would mean next to nothing to those on the ground, they weren't her targets.

She fired another round of star-shaped arrays at the Charizard, super powered by the change in weather. Hopefully that would make a difference. ]

[Ahri hadn't thought about retaliation from the Magmortar, having been too focused on the large dragons. Very stupid move which she'll hopefully have time to regret later. Being a Fire Type herself she felt she could take the hit, but not Kid. There wasn't any time to dodge, or take him away so she opted for the next best thing.

Picked him up and held him close while turning to take the full blast from the attack at her back in hopes that she could shield Kid. This would hurt, tons, fire type or not.]

Grrr, how dare you! [Teddie Growled at the assailants for knocking Tendou out for the count.

Bernard rushed to Ahri and Kid in order to shove them out from the worst of the lava plume. He wasn't sure how durable Ahri was, but he didn't wish to find out if she could take the full hit or not, especially with an attack like that.]

Haaaaah!

[The axe-wielding warriors leap into action as well, one leaping up against each of the Pokemon. They seem to have no qualms about aiming for potentially lethal strikes, though their efforts are thwarted as their targets roll and parry. Still, it is a distraction that enables the others to pull out some of their attacks effectively.

The Drought has been replaced by Rain, and the exact opposite happens now as Sanae's bullets surge forward to pound into the spiky Charizard. It gives a great roar of pain as its fires flicker momentarily - then it rebounds with a Dragon Pulse aimed towards the meddling priestess to disperse the bullets.

The black Charizard is hit a bit harder by the multitude of attacks: Ancient Power, Double Edge, and Foul Play, but it's not yet down for the count, either. With the last of its strength, it screams as waves of fire engulf it - a Blast Burn that sends waves of fire radiating towards Tendou's Pokemon and Duo's team.

Magmortar shrugs off the Shadow Ball and lumbers forward now to pick off what it perceives as the weaker members. Its less than aesthetically pleasing face is curled in a cruel grin as the energy begins to charge on its cannon... Hyper Beam. Better do something about it, quick!]

[ Yup. That's quite enough of that. Aerodactyl and Larvesta weren't especially tough Pokemon, and Blast Burn was the strongest Fire-type attack from one of the strongest Fire-type Pokemon. Back they go to the Warp Band and Union to recover.

Too bad Tendou's not allowed to do that himself. He'll have to patch his wounds back up the old-fashioned way. With good food.

Still, he wasn't completely out of the fight yet. He still had one Pokemon in reserve that he hadn't wanted to bring out into a bunch of Fire-types, but the opportunity was here, so he's going all-in. ]

Kagami.

[ Keeping himself a healthy distance away from the fight, Tendou called his Honedge forth, which spun towards the Magmortar with a Sacred Sword! ]

[Teddie is less than enthused about that expression. It's enough to send a chill down his back.] Th-that grizzly looks like he's got a beary powerful attack coming up!

[A Bonemerang from Bernard joins the assault on the Magmotar. He's going to try and refuse to let it get another powerful shot off. He even begins to race toward it, as to position himself for another attack when his bonemerang returns to him.]

[Thanks to Bernard, Ahri was saved from taking the full brunt of that attack. Hitting the ground hard from the shove, she looked over and gave Bernard a very thankful look and nod before turning her attention to the action once again.

Placing down Kid once again, she tried to support by using Confuse Ray on the Magmortar while Kid used another Sand Attack.]

((Aaaand in the interest of wrapping this up...! Apologies for a slightly contrived ending!))

[The cannon glows with increasing intensity as the Magmortar chuckles. Faster and faster the light pulses until -- ]

Wham!

[Sacred Sword and Bonemerang slam into Magmortar simultaneously from the side, sending it reeling! The beam blasts out, but -- ]

Graaaaarwwrr!!

[ -- smashes into the spiny Charizard! The force is such that it goes flying 100 yards and smashes into a tree, down for the count. Magmortar itself, still reeling, cannot dodge that Confuse Ray. And with a great groan, it launches itself towards... the black Charizard??]

Erm.

[The warriors watch in slight confusion as the Magmortar begins to pummel the final Charizard. Their leader pauses for a moment, then nods towards her warriors.

An axe strike finishes the job here and she takes a breath. ]

As I was saying... we are in your debt.
