bravenewworld | Descent into Darkness

As the characters arrive, they will find what appears to be a rather deep cavern. Upon entering, the caverns are quite narrow, with twists and turns everywhere and different tunnels that all seem to be interconnected. As characters travel deeper within the caverns, reality around them will start to warp, they will start to see and hear things that aren’t necessarily there - images of old enemies, past failures, voices of condemnation, visions that strike at the soul and core of the characters. Once this begins, it will only increase in power and volume, demanding it be confronted, lest they be trapped within these caves forever.

[OOC: This event will run for a week. All characters who enter the caves will be subject to some of their deepest fears, darkest demons, and most abject failures. To overcome them, characters must help each other out, finding their purpose through strength of character and resolve to move forward. In general, these visions should require characters to come to grips with themselves. Illusory images and voices can and will appear and can take any number of forms, depending on what is most appropriate to a character. Additionally, characters may thread with each other and are encouraged to help each other out to overcome these personal demons. For those who wish to take part, they are able and encouraged to narrate their own personal demons, which will be on display for everyone who enters their thread. IC threads may be made in this post.]

The Lord of Nightmares? What's he doing here? [Oh, crap; not the grumpy god of the Dream World. His concerns deepen once he notices that Light Screen.] H-hold on a sec! Can't we try and talk to him for a few moments?

[This...this is starting to remind him of his team's expedition back into the past...and how terribly wrong it went. He can even hear the haunting wing beats of the white bird-God in his head...

...or is it just in his head?]

[there could be! Michiru is distracted however, trying to figure out where Darkrai is going to reappear on top of Right's crazy suggestion.]

Talk? What use is there in talking? [the logical part of her mind agrees that it really does seem to work on most of the gods, but all the other parts are simply connecting 1) Haruka is missing and 2) Darkrai had taken her away in the past.

Gardevoir lets go of Hikari and takes up a fighting stance at Rapidash's flank, so they have eyes all around.]

It's worked before, didn't it?

[And yet, that haunting sound of huge wings seem to grow louder. Right pushes down his fear. It's just the dark part of his Imagination going nuts; nothing more. Or so he says to himself...]

But it doesn't stop them.

[and that's a black claw, appearing out of nowhere and aiming right for their heads. Michiru and Gardevoir both slam Psychics at it, even as Rapidash does its best to run away.]

They keep coming back and testing us. [she sounds cold, as the rest of Darkrai appears through that portal, looking entirely unfazed. From above, however, something large and white might be using Fly right at where Darkrai had herded them to.]

But don't you think that there might be a good reason for them to do so--Ohhhh, crap! [Right's eyes bugged out as he spots the white bird-God - the one he saw in the Past - sending a Fly down at them. Without thinking, he throws himself onto Michiru, trying to shield her from the worst of it.]

[color Michiru surprised. She manages to erect a hasty Psychic shield hoping to ward off the worst of the blow while her Rapidash screams as Fly hits. However glancingly they were hit, that is still one big bird.]

Right!

[Right winces as he took more of the hit than she did, though not as bad thanks to her Psychic shield. His other Pokemon fair no worse, though his Lucario took the worst of the blast among them. His Bunnelby, Yami, scrambles over to Right and starts tugging on his arm.] C'mon, let's get outta here before we become Divine Meals!

Stop that, Yami! We're not running away this time! [He yanks his arms out of the ear-hands of his furry friend and slowly got up.] It's time we settle this...

[Michiru nods after a quick once-over at Right. No lasting damage.] Then let's do it.

[she picks herself up, taking a moment to reach out to her Rapidash. Gardevoir hovers protectively over them. At least Rapidash seems no worse for the wear, even if its eyes are rolling about madly. It doesn't do well with Ghosts, even if Darkrai isn't exactly a Ghost type.]

Waltz! Vivace!

[Gardevoir charges up with a Moonblast while Rapidash does the same with Flare Blitz and then waits for their cue. Michiru herself uses Lock-On, taking aim the next spot Darkrai will come through. Looks like she's focusing on one at a time.]

[Right nods back, then turns to Yami as he pulls up his Warp Band.] I'll call you back once we're done, so don't go too far from home.

[Yami nods, but does grumble something about not wanting to come back before Right switches him out for his Roggenrola.] Stone, Blast the Bird God so that he focuses on me and Michiru!

[He's got an idea as to how to quickly end this...and while it might be nuts to be attacking Gods right now, it's the best way to get their attention. Besides, he's hoping that what he failed to do last time he saw that white legendary bird...

He can actually succeed this time.]

[the gods here don't have that same quality of awe as they might have had. If anything, it's almost muted by sheer force of will.

When Darkrai emerges from the ether, it's immediately hit with a Moonblast and a Psychic attack, followed up by a charging ball of fire. Darkrai screeches, following up with a deep slash at Rapidash.

Rock Blast hits twice, effectively capturing Lugia's attention. It gets out of the way for the rest, but then screams and responds with an Aeroblast, aiming to hit all of them at once.]
