Descent into Darkness
As the characters arrive, they will find what appears to be a rather deep cavern. Upon entering, the caverns are quite narrow, with twists and turns everywhere and different tunnels that all seem to be interconnected. As characters travel deeper within the caverns, reality around them will start to warp, they will start to see and hear things that aren’t necessarily there - images of old enemies, past failures, voices of condemnation, visions that strike at the soul and core of the characters. Once this begins, it will only increase in power and volume, demanding it be confronted, lest they be trapped within these caves forever.
[OOC: This event will run for a week. All characters who enter the caves will be subject to some of their deepest fears, darkest demons, and most abject failures. To overcome them, characters must help each other out, finding their purpose through strength of character and resolve to move forward. In general, these visions should require characters to come to grips with themselves. Illusory images and voices can and will appear and can take any number of forms, depending on what is most appropriate to a character. Additionally, characters may thread with each other and are encouraged to help each other out to overcome these personal demons. For those who wish to take part, they are able and encouraged to narrate their own personal demons, which will be on display for everyone who enters their thread. IC threads may be made in this post.]

[The doctor, meanwhile, it's tutting at Hayato falling on his ass.]
We didn't spend all this time engineering you so you could fail, Dog. Get- [And then he ducks as he gets shot at.]
Get up and finish her!
[And up he goes. Any feeble attempts at humor are gone. He's just looking more and more distressed as he slowly moves to stand in front of the doctor.]

Watching her bullets sail past the good doctor, Excellen's eyes narrow. Those were some abnormally good reflexes. A bit too good. Using Hayato as a human shield only proved to anger her more. ]
Are you really going to let some Gigan dog use you as his personal puppet?! Are you going to turn on a fellow Calderan like this?! Hayato, you're better than this! Fight it!

[And he shows that- in the jerky way he tries to hold himself back from advancing on her. His steps are slow like his feet are made of lead. The Doctor glowers at this and adjusts something on the console. Hayato screams. His movements smooth out again.]
No, no, stop it. Stop it!
[The doctor starts to laugh.]
What makes you think you'll ever be anything besides our weapon? That paltry freedom you briefly enjoyed is over with. You belong to us.

[ This was bad. This was really, really bad. Excellen wasn't quite sure what was real and what wasn't--she had a thought, but she didn't want to be wrong--but what mattered most was that Hayato believed it. Knowing that she had to find a way to fix that, the blond looked around quickly.
Who would have thought her opportunity would rest neatly in someone's hands? Letting then good doctor distract himself by barking orders, she moved quickly, lining herself up between Hayato and the illusionary man. Reaching in her holster, she swapped her rounds as she dashed--blanks for live ammo--and raised her pistol at the rampaging Enhanced. ]

[ She locked eyes with him for a brief moment. Her expression cold, she gave him a short, slight nod.
Firing three rounds, she angled her shots away from Hayato at the last possible second, aiming instead at the control device in the doctor's hand. Her other hand diving inside her jacket, she began to ready a backup plan, should that not work. ]
