...Does anybody have any experience with getting Pokemon to stop being afraid of things?

[And again, in the other direction.]

I mean, afraid of, like, everything.

[There's a low buzzing sound and Chie turns around to briefly reveal a Rotom hiding behind her shoulder.  Once it sees the Warp Band is on, it dives back behind her.  She sighs, shaking her head.]

Usually I'm the one who's afraid of Ghost types, but this is just ridiculous.

To live somewhere less scary, I guess? But it literally thinks everything is scary.

I have plenty of Pokemon, but I don't know which one would be the best. Maybe my Froslass? She was afraid of me when we first met...

That would be a start. At least she could help with it being nervous around people.

As for everything else...that's the tough part, really.

Mostly? trying to socialize her. She's just frightened of people. All people. Except me.

Only lately. It never used to be this bad.

It would be rather unusual for them all to be fighters, though. Wouldn't it?

I would recommend a kindred spirit or psychic type to discuss what scares the pokemon in question and why. If that fails, therapy is not necessarily a bad option. I might also recommend tighter bonding with your other pokemon. If the pokemon feels that it can depend on more than one person, it may feel inclined to start trusting and opening up to others as well.

I have a few Psychic types, but one of them is kind of mean. I don't think he'd really help things much. The other one... I have a hard time understanding, but maybe it would work out better with another Pokemon. Or would it be better to make friends with another Electric type?

It depends on the Electric type, some electric types are more aggressive than others. But an electric type with a docile nature or jolly nature would assist you greatly in your endeavors. Perhaps a Flaffy? They are usually very gentle in manner and nature.

Kinoko, my Shroomish used to be scared of things, but at the same time he really really wanted to help me. It meant he spent most battles just trying to pretend he was normal mushroom. But then he was with me when we all got attacked by a really scary Krookodile, and he evolved shortly after that and now he's not so scared any more.

[She pauses, apparently realizing that she's been sort of babbling.]

I'm not sure if that really helps, sorry.

I don't think Rotoms evolve, though... I don't know if that kind of thing would work for him.
