[A quick bolt of electricity whizzes by in the background before Chie even gets started.]

...Does anybody have any experience with getting Pokemon to stop being afraid of things?

[And again, in the other direction.]

I mean, afraid of, like, everything.

[There's a low buzzing sound and Chie turns around to briefly reveal a Rotom hiding behind her shoulder.  Once it sees the Warp Band is on, it dives back behind her.  She sighs, shaking her head.]

Usually I'm the one who's afraid of Ghost types, but this is just ridiculous.

Are you scary?

I don't think so. I'm a Ghost, like you are. You're not scary, are you?

No... and you don't look scary... but sometimes things that don't look scary are secretly really scary.

Is that why you're so afraid? You're worried everything is going to scare you?

Everything can be scary.

Has someone hurt you? Is that why you're so scared?

No, but they might! You never know!

Most people and Pokémon don't want to hurt you. They probably just want to be left alone or be friends.

But what about the ones that do want to hurt me? How will I know the difference?

It's usually pretty obvious if someone wants to hurt you. They're not very good at hiding it.

Okay. What about loud noises? Or things that move really fast?

[warriormouse]

Loud noises are just noises and won't hurt you, just maybe give you a headache. And if something's moving fast, it probably doesn't see you. Just don't stand in the way.

Is it safe if I go fast?

So long as you watch where you're going.

What about angry things or crying things or children?

[Oh boy]

Children are too young to be really scary--they can't hurt you. Crying things are too upset to want to hurt anyone, and just avoid angry people if you can.

Okay, so you said loud noises are safe, but what about when it's too quiet? It's like something bad is just waiting to happen!

Most of the time, quiet is a sign that nothing bad will happen, I promise.
