Event - Confrontation with the Enhanced

With the revelation of the presence of the Enhanced, Union was able to quickly mobilize. As the strange conditions continued to worsen, the Trainers of Union once again set out to bring order to the chaos.

This time however, they do not walk entirely alone. A small, dedicated team remains behind in Union, sorting through the dossiers and information that Crystal and Rory have collected. Connected to those in the field via Warp Band network, hopefully they can identify the Enhanced and find a way to calm them before a tragedy occurs.

[OOC: There will be a thread for each active team based on the sign-ups. Any areas that did not have any sign-ups will not be present and will be addressed later. As per our usual standards, moderators and NPC helpers will progress the log at least once every 24 hours. The Union log will work somewhat differently from the battle logs in that the participants will be collecting information concerning the Enhanced; when enough information has been accumulated, they will be asked to tag into the battle threads to provide guidance and support to those out in the field.

Characters participating in the Union log will function as support staff for this event. They will have their own log interacting with Rory and Crystal and as characters in other logs encounter the Enhanced, they can use the observations made to try to find out more about the Enhanced in the field and help the people in the field determine an appropriate situation. Because of this, players in the Union thread may threadjack any ongoing log to relay information as needed.

The outcome of this event will depend very much on player decisions and the ability of the characters to respond to the threats at hand, so we would highly encourage you all to tag as regularly as possible. Thanks!]

The Cofagrigus continued her ghostly song, floating closer to Sierra with all four hands held low but palm-up, supplicating and coaxing. She paid no attention to her surroundings, and Fuyuhiko had to hop over some of the Eeveelutions' repairs to keep up with her.

"Oba-san..."

He kept his tail low and his posture as inoffensive as possible, but he wasn't going to be any help even if he did get close.

Ami jumped down from Minerva and landed in a crouch when she was safe enough to do so. She didn't put the Noctowl away just in case it was necessary for a quick escape from any fissures or volatile fire. She stood up, slowly, not making any movements that were too sudden, keeping to the ice side as that made her the most comfortable.

She summoned her Dragonair, Socrates. Just as the Cofagrigus sang to help soothe the Enhanced, just as Rei had Gardevoir at the ready, Socrates used his natural calming aura to try and help the situation. He offered a gentle song as he and Ami came closer to Sierra.

"Hello, Sierra," she smiled, coming ever closer. "I promise, we're going to do everything we can to help you. I'm going to make the pain go away as best I can. I know you've been in great pain, you don't want to hurt anyone, I can tell. I'm going to help you. We're all here to help."

She kept getting closer and closer.

"I ask that you trust me, Sierra, that you believe me when I say all I want to do is help."

From within her self-imposed imprisonment, the woman shudders slightly at the sound of the Cofagrigus and Dragonair's song. It's not entirely certain whether or not this is a positive response, but at least, she's not rejecting it outright. There comes a pained inhalation as the flames and the frost surrounding her begin to recede slightly as well - though really, it doesn't amount to a much better situation in the end. She seems to be holding her breath, as if keeping the air from escaping will keep her powers from spiraling out of control as well.

"Hurry..."

And for a moment, it seems like this might possibly go without incident. But as Ami draws closer and closer, Sierra's hands begin to shake.

"Wait - No - Don't..."

She can feel it in the ground. Every step forward sends a tremor, every movement sends a twitch of pain through her mind. That connection she had with the earth would be her downfall.

"S-Stop!"

And with that choked cry, the rock surrounding her suddenly shatters and bursts out in every direction! Ami might be in trouble here, but by a freak stroke of terrible luck, a shard, barely a sliver, shoots out straight towards the eye of a certain Shifter standing awkwardly a ways back.

"No no no no no no no no... no....."

Her body is revealed now for the world to see; her legs are half-buried in the ground, and it is from there that the veins of ice and fire are flowing outwards... Sierra has closed her eyes; every ounce of her being is dedicated now to preventing those veins from expanding even now.

"THORON!"

A blast of lightning descends from the sky to knock away the rocks and defend those on the ground.

And this was why she wanted to act cautiously instead of getting close and talking to the out-of-control Enhanced person.

"Dammit! Swanna!"

Summoning up a Tailwind, the Pokemon directs it downward, attempting to use it to divert the attack and speed up her allies.

"Deimos! Now! Heal Pulse!"

Rei practically screams out the command, pouring a sense of urgency into her words. It's as much directed at Fuyuhiko now as it is the obviously suffering Enhanced. The Priestess herself funnels some of her own psychic energy into the Gardevoir, and a purplish light floods the area! But...would it do any good?

"Augh!"

Fuyuhiko hit the ground in a sprawl with a sharp whine, one foreleg covering his face, and didn't get up. Oba-san, broken out of her keening tune, moved to shield him from further harm, then glared up at the woman on the mountain. All kinship in her eyes burned away to rage, but then she suddenly disengaged from the world again, lullaby dirges rising like a tide in her head.

Instead of attacking, the move she used in her disconnected delirium was Power Split. Perhaps Cofagrigus' generally low attack could ameliorate future damage...

"Aniki!" exclaimed the skittish mechanic, disengaging his warp band almost immediately after the hit landed.

Speeding to Fuyuhiko's side without much concern for his own safety, Kazuichi ~~tearfully~~ checks on his friend. Meanwhile, despite her worry, Belaire is sure to stand before the two as guard, standing defensively but not letting herself growl. As much as this is not something she wanted to ever happen, she had to believe it wasn't Sierra's intent.

As close as Ami was, the only thing that kept her from being completely pummeled by the shattering rocks is the massive ice wall she creates between her and the onslaught. But even as quick as her analyst abilities allow her to be, she screams as the fire and rocks break through the wall and slam into her.

The medic was on the ground, the wind knocked out of her and she had to catch her breath from the distance she was thrown by the blast. She gasped and her fingers curled, her Dragonair let out a pained cry, quick to her side and wrapping her up in his coils. She leaned against him, some of the sharper shards having sliced into her sides and arms.

The girl genius tried to sit up, only able to do so with help from Socrates. She rematerialized her visor of ice, gasping as she held her bleeding side, trying to look at everyone and everything around her. Even despite her injuries she still wanted to help Sierra, though now she would also have to tend to Fuyuhiko.

The Enhanced is clearly clinging on to her last thread of strength at this point, no energy left to speak or glance around or do much more then hold her position and keep herself contained. She isn't entirely aware of who is hurt or what's happened, but that's unfortunately not something she can concern herself with at the moment.

The light of the Heal Pulse floods the area and when it strikes Sierra, there is, it seems, a brief moment when her eyes flicker open and her breath grows slightly less ragged.

But one way or another, they would have to bring an end to this soon.

"Ami-chan!" Rei cries her friend's name in a panic and leaps off of Olympus' back, casually dropping to the ground despite the distance and running over to her friend's side. With a flick of her wrist she calls for Ravi. The Xatu explodes into the air with a warbling cry, flapping to hover near the "battlefield."

"Deimos, keep healing! Get Ami-chan in your bubble if you can! Ravi, Power Swap! Weaken Sierra however you can, and then heal her too! We need to get her pain under control!"

The odd bird complies glowing purple for a moment and Power Swapping his own abilities with Sierra's, and then he proceeds to Wish upon a star. Deimos does as instructed as well, her hands held up to continuously send out flares of healing light.

Kazuichi was calling him. Fuyuhiko clung to that, Shifting back to his more human form with both hands pressed over the right half of his face, slick with red. The repeated Heal Pulses were helping, but nothing had ever hurt this bad in his entire fucking life, he couldn't think, something vital was damaged beyond salvation and his head was screaming--

He opened his other eye, breath rasping in his throat.

He could see Belaire standing guard, and he was aware of Souda nearby, but Oba-san was ahead, weaving in the air, ghost arms dangling like crepe paper ribbons in a breeze. Further up was the woman, still stuck in the rock like some asshole had planted her there.

"Kh..."

He couldn't deal with Oba-san right now. He lifted one hand away from his face and, closing his fingers into a trembling fist, brought O-Ren the Crobat to the field. Before she could start to panic, he used the Warp Band's bond to tell her what he wanted.

"Get her out..."

Her legs. The ground. He pressed those images on the Crobat, and, after a profound hesitation, she took to the air to fire a swift pair of Air Slashes at the ground around Sierra's feet. If extracting the woman ended up hurting her, or making her powers go crazy, well, that was just too damn bad. Leaving her like that wasn't doing anyone any good.

"Fuckin' move your hands, bro," urged Kazuichi in his tearful panic (cursing himself under his breath because no one else had enough time to shame him for crying at a time like this) as he lifted the seam of his over-alls to his sharp teeth, bit, and pulled. There were only two things in this world Kazuichi really considered himself good at, and one of those things was fixing shit. He was a mechanic. He could help to fix this.

Freeing his torn sleeve from his arm, Kazuichi did his best to get Fuyuhiko's hands out of his way long enough to use the sleeve as a tourniquet around his head. Sure-- cauterizing the wound with Belaire's abilities might be better; he'd used it to prevent profuse bleeding from shop wounds before, but there was no way he could even think of getting Belaire to do that at present. Instead, he helped to hold the tourniquet in place, praying they could solve this all in time.

"J-Just stay still, man, don't move," he muttered with a sniffle. Head wounds bled profusely all the time, but moving would only cause more blood flow.

The two Power Swaps are actually quite clever, the first having sufficiently weakened Sierra prior to her outburst that she didn't send the whole mountain crumbling down, and the second now causing some of those streams of magma and ice to run dry. Her overactive strength was both fueling her uncontrollable powers and the damage she was inflicting on herself... To some extent, it was also a factor in her self-control, but the mitigation of her power certainly made things more manageable, even if she felt her grip weakening

In the meantime, the continuing Heal Pulse certainly doesn't hurt in keeping the pain at bay.

Kuzuryuu's Air Slash very possibly would have resulted in terrible things had those earlier Power Swaps not happened, but now, the effect released as she is cut out of the earth is akin to being caught in an Icy Wind and a Fire Spin. Painful and irritating, but hardly deadly.

Ami stood up, panting, her legs shaking. The Heal Pulse certainly helped the situation for the medic, and wished more than ever that she had healing abilities at the moment. She still had some wounds but her focus was on the Enhanced and Fuyuhiko and getting everyone home and healed. She took a deep breath and went over to Sierra.

"Please, give me your hand. Can you walk?" she asked as she tried to take in as much as she could. If not, she'd fashion a wheelchair out of ice, if necessary. She already pulled out bandages and other medical supplies from her bag. She wouldn't let anyone die. Not if she could help it.

Rei didn't say anything, she just stayed close to Ami for the moment, trying to use her pyrokinetic abilities to divert some of the heat away from her friend. It's about now that Xatu's Wish probably goes off too, starlight dropping out to ease more of the pain. If that's possible.

Sierra lies prone on the ground for a few moments after she's released, the streams of ice and fire very, very slowly beginning to fade with the removal of their source. There comes a long exhalation as she lies with her head against the earth, continuing to feel the vibrations of those on the mountain...

But she will control herself. She has to, after all this...

"...I can stand."

She will not touch Ami if she can help it, unaware that the woman is resistant to her icy portion. Sierra will, after a few wobbles, slowly lift a rock up from the ground upon which she supports herself.
