Event - Confrontation with the Enhanced

With the revelation of the presence of the Enhanced, Union was able to quickly mobilize. As the strange conditions continued to worsen, the Trainers of Union once again set out to bring order to the chaos.

This time however, they do not walk entirely alone. A small, dedicated team remains behind in Union, sorting through the dossiers and information that Crystal and Rory have collected. Connected to those in the field via Warp Band network, hopefully they can identify the Enhanced and find a way to calm them before a tragedy occurs.

[OOC: There will be a thread for each active team based on the sign-ups. Any areas that did not have any sign-ups will not be present and will be addressed later. As per our usual standards, moderators and NPC helpers will progress the log at least once every 24 hours. The Union log will work somewhat differently from the battle logs in that the participants will be collecting information concerning the Enhanced; when enough information has been accumulated, they will be asked to tag into the battle threads to provide guidance and support to those out in the field.

Characters participating in the Union log will function as support staff for this event. They will have their own log interacting with Rory and Crystal and as characters in other logs encounter the Enhanced, they can use the observations made to try to find out more about the Enhanced in the field and help the people in the field determine an appropriate situation. Because of this, players in the Union thread may threadjack any ongoing log to relay information as needed.

The outcome of this event will depend very much on player decisions and the ability of the characters to respond to the threats at hand, so we would highly encourage you all to tag as regularly as possible. Thanks!]

[Ichigo'd just let the others talk, although he'd smiled when she looked him over and said that he couldn't be older than she was.]

[He gestures to the spirits remaining with one of his normal arms, the gesture jerky and mechanical.]

When they were all out and around...it was kind of familiar. But, uh...if you're asking how I ended up coming back like this, then I'd have to say that I don't know, either. I woke up one day at the Forest Shrine as a Honedge, so...

[He shrugs.]

Anyway, yeah - a lot of things are happening all around Union, and your friends are probably the cause of it. But like Piper said, other people are trying to help them, just like us.

[He is worried about what's going on with Martin - because yeah, that's an awful place to be in - but he can't help but notice Matthias's state, wincing slightly. He didn't protect him well enough... he aims his next comment at the other man.]

...Sorry, by the way. King's Shield isn't meant to protect multiple people, but it was all I could think of.

[ Sorry, Ichigo, she's going to pat your arm a bit. You're just so interesting! Martin would get the same treatment, but she's trying to keep her distance from him and Matthias--not out of rudeness, but for their own safety.

Hearing Gordon, she looks over her shoulder again. Oh, you could see him. That changes things. ]

Jochem is my friend. We've been together since...

[ She hesitates. She didn't really want to talk about that. ]

For a very long time, just like the others. They come and go as they please, but stay close if they feel I am in danger.

[ Carl has his eyes on you, Gordon. He doesn't think you'll use it, but better safe than sorry. Chanda instead hovers near him, watching the older man with interest, before moving on and floating over to Matthias. That was really good! She hasn't had anything that good... well, ever!

Prisca's expression becomes bleak as Martin and Ichigo speak, and she lowers her head. Her expression says that she may be hiding something. ]

[Gordon frowns at that pause, filling in the gaps.]

We should report our success down here.

[He turns to Prisca.]

[He gestures to where Jochem disappeared.]

won't turn up? Or, well, turn up enough to be seen and heard by folks like me?

[Mike throws his arms up as Martin awakens. Huzzah!]

Is there anything you can tell us about the other Enlightened? Something that could help the others like us help them?

[ Prisca nods. ]

That's right. Although I didn't know all of the ones you saw earlier. There are quite a few restless spirits here. I wonder what happened.

[ Clutching a hand near her chest, she kept her gaze lowered, nodding her head. ]

There were about nine or ten of us. At first it was just Sakina, Lyn, Kuon, Naomi and I, but... there were complications. The further we got from Gigas, the more unstable a few of us got. A few of us tried to hold everyone together.

[ She shook her head, clenching her hands at her side. ]

Then everyone separated. I can't say where the others are at this point, or in what state they're in. It's hard for me to keep myself under control down here. I know that I'm likely the most together of our group, so I can only imagine what the others must be going through...

[ She takes a deep breath. Chanda, who had been fussing a bit over Matthias in hopes that he would feed her, floats away, to stand beside Prisca. There are a few wavering wisps near her--likely older spirits. ]

...This is all my fault.

It's not your fault. [Piper's tone is suddenly and surprisingly vehement.]

You're not responsible for what the Gigas people did to you.

[Martin lets Mike cheer all he wants, content to just sit here.]

She's right, Prisca. This isn't your fault. You obviously didn't want to hurt anyone or cause any trouble. You just wanted to be free from Gigas control.

[Gordon frowns to Prisca.]

They're right. In fact, of all the people I know in Union, most would argue you're the victim. That you're /all/ victims. I can't speak for everyone, but everyone I saw who got the news about you and your friends wanted to help. If there's anything you can tell us that can help them help your friends, it'd go a long way.

[Mike, one mission... kind of accomplished, looks to the sad girl. He runs his hands over his smooth head, marches over and looks up at Prisca. Once he's got her attention, he starts making various silly faces. Gordon watches, smirking slightly.]

I was the one that convinced them to leave, it was my responsibility to make sure they were safe.

[ Prisca hesitantly nodded as the wisps around her danced around her slowly. They weren't menacing, but seemed like they were trying to comfort her. ]

I'm not sure about some of the others, but a few of us were friends--Sakina, Lyn and Sarah, Kuon and Naomi. The others came later--Florian, Nathaniel and Gino. We hadn't intended on bringing them with us, but they insisted; said that they would tell our handlers, tell them that it was me behind this. I... I caved.

A few of us are able to keep control for the most part, but there are others--like Sierra, or Naomi--who need more help keeping their powers from taking over. We managed, for a time, until a few of the others became agitated. They began arguing, then one by one, went our separate ways. I did what I could to keep everyone together, but I couldn't.

[ Your faces don't go unnoticed, Mike, and he gets the brief glimmer of a smile, until she realizes something. Prisca looks up, worried. ]
