Event - Confrontation with the Enhanced

With the revelation of the presence of the Enhanced, Union was able to quickly mobilize. As the strange conditions continued to worsen, the Trainers of Union once again set out to bring order to the chaos.

This time however, they do not walk entirely alone. A small, dedicated team remains behind in Union, sorting through the dossiers and information that Crystal and Rory have collected. Connected to those in the field via Warp Band network, hopefully they can identify the Enhanced and find a way to calm them before a tragedy occurs.

[OOC: There will be a thread for each active team based on the sign-ups. Any areas that did not have any sign-ups will not be present and will be addressed later. As per our usual standards, moderators and NPC helpers will progress the log at least once every 24 hours. The Union log will work somewhat differently from the battle logs in that the participants will be collecting information concerning the Enhanced; when enough information has been accumulated, they will be asked to tag into the battle threads to provide guidance and support to those out in the field.

Characters participating in the Union log will function as support staff for this event. They will have their own log interacting with Rory and Crystal and as characters in other logs encounter the Enhanced, they can use the observations made to try to find out more about the Enhanced in the field and help the people in the field determine an appropriate situation. Because of this, players in the Union thread may threadjack any ongoing log to relay information as needed.

The outcome of this event will depend very much on player decisions and the ability of the characters to respond to the threats at hand, so we would highly encourage you all to tag as regularly as possible. Thanks!]

Yukiko remains steadfast, but steps out from behind Jayce, palms up and open.

"See. We're not villains we come in peace. We're on your side. Heroes, who help those in need."

If the woman was going to act the knight, Yukiko figures she had best play along. Yukiko may however not be the best actress for the role of a fearless adventurer, but she figures she can pass. And she's read plenty of fantasy stories to bullshit.

"We came because we heard there was a valiant woman in need of assistance."

Sadly that wasn't the case with Yu. He was still awkward with people but not as much due to the interaction. He agreed with Yukiko but only Izanagi was brave enough to stand in front of him, however instead of taking a defensive stance he sat flat on his butt and wagged his tail. Now you decide to be weird?

"We're here to help you, not harm. Will you let us?"

[ The "heroes" have attracted the attention of someone or something, and while it doesn't reveal itself, they might catch the glimpse of something nondescript out of the corner of their eye. However, if they try to look, they will find nothing is there. Strange. ]

Umi just nods, following suit. There really isn't a whole lot she can add.

"We just want to help. Please, tell us what's going on, and we'll try to do what we can to aid you."

She relaxed a bit, hoping to make herself look less threatening, if the two chittering electric rodents pointing and laughing at the Eevee that just sat down didn't make it obvious that there's not much interest in a fight there.

The woman regards the group with a bit of suspicion. She cocks her ear back, as if listening to something although there is clearly nobody behind her, before nodding once. The blade shrinks down to the size of a more standard greatsword, which she thrusts into the ground.

"My companion is kinder than I, and continues to refuse to flee when ordered. Very well. I shall hear you."

Jayce took a deep breath.

"All right. My name is Jayce. I'm an engineer from the city of Union."

Might as well start with introductions.

I'm Chie Satonaka. I'm a member of the Swords of the Savior. We help protect people.

[Introductions sound good.]

"My name is Yukiko Amagi," she smiles and bows, "And I'm a health-care specialist."

Yukiko...that's not exactly a job for an adventurer or whatever you're pretending to be.

24 hour advancement

"I would welcome citizens of Union - if you speak truth. I know where I am, and Caldera has deemed us the enemy. What proof do you offer of your claims?"

"Allow me to demonstrate something." Jayce lifted his left arm, containing his Warp Band, and activated it. With a flash of light, a Castform appeared.

"We don't capture Pokémon and keep them in balls like our ancestors did hundreds of years ago. We work with them and call upon them to aid us when we need their help, and when they're not needed, they have a habitat in which they can stay. This is technology that was developed by Union, with no outside help."

There's a bit of hesitance, but Umi speaks up.

"My name is Umi Sonoda. Caldera is my home, but I recently moved to Union. Not everyone sees you as an enemy, and they've even given us a chance to settle this peacefully. I can attest to the fact that this technology belongs to Union, although I have been given one myself. They're...we're good people."

"Exactly," Yukiko chimes in, "I was born and raised in Union, I grew up in the same place four generations of my family did. And for as long as I can remember, and as long as the rest of us can too, we've never had enemies."

She again appears to be listening to something, before sighing heavily.

"Very well. If Sarah wishes it, we shall trust you. What business have you with us, people of Union?"

Well... we want to help you, too. Caldera's nervous because of what's been happening to all of their metal since you came, and they don't really know what to do about it except send their Steel Battalion down here.

But we think we can get this taken care of without anybody having to fight anybody. If you come with us, we can get you to some people who know how to help. We won't send you back to Gigas. Nobody likes those jerks.

"That's the crux of it." Jayce nodded. "The effects that your presence has been having on the metal in the mines has been upsetting the Calderans. If we can move to a more neutral location, it'll mitigate a number of concerns."

He's afraid of saying the same thing like everyone else because it had already been said. It's not just for Caldera's safety but most of all, her own that he was concerned about. She didn't ask for the metal to bend and shape like it did, she seemed to want to protect this Sarah person more than anything. Or pokemon.

"We want to help, not fight. That's why we're here."

Speaking with people is still not his strong suit but it's how he felt.

She sighs.

"The people of Caldera were always a bit jumpy. Very well. If you can guarantee my safe passage, we shall accompany you. Come, Sarah."

The giant sword shrinks back down to a hilt and flips onto her back without her actually having to touch it. The doll that was sitting on a ledge behind her likewise flies through the air, which she then carefully secures to her back.

"We are ready to go."

We can totally guarantee it. They said they'd give us a few hours to try to resolve this without a fight, and I don't think the Calderans are the type to go back on their word once they've given it.

[Chie does blink curiously at the doll, but they've done what they've come here to do and she doesn't know if mentioning it would set this woman off. In this case, she decides that silence is golden.]

"Exactly," Yukiko bows and turns, leading the way with Cassandra. "It'll be alright."

Umi just watches sort of quietly, nodding in agreement with the others. That...hadn't been as difficult as she'd thought it would be, and for that, she's thankful.

"Right, let's be on our way, then."

Jayce picked his Mercury Hammer back up and slung it over his shoulder. It'd be hard to brandish it quickly in that position, which should hopefully give away his inclination to avoid a fight.

"Then follow me. I've got some good ideas on where to go from here."
