The Depths of Gigas

While Union was happy to agree to a ceasefire with Gigas and treat with them in earnest, it seems the Seekers have held some suspicions of the great Empire for awhile now. And thus, enlisting in the help of a few hand-picked Union agents, they stole into the deepest vaults of Gigas, hoping to recover items of great power and learn the truth about the city’s purported guardian gods.

[There aren't any hallways like this in Union. For one thing, there's too much metal. For another, there's too many guards. Guards with what are definitely some sort of high-powered weapon, resting in the crooks of their arms like an extension of themselves. Guards in heavy sunglasses so no one can tell where they're looking. Guards who do pace the corridors, yes, but who don't seem concerned about leaving.

Because there are also strange contraptions affixed to the ceiling with lenses on them. And those appear to be watching the way.]

[Rose is wearing the mask in front of the others -- she showed up that way -- and has her back against a corner, as she watches the guards from the corner of her eye. Then the strange things with lenses.]

[...damn. She looks at the others, then reaches up -- and pulls the mask off, revealing herself to be Rose. Despite her trepidation, it seems best. After all, she knows who they are. Fair's fair.]

I guess I have a side job besides being a merchant. Any ideas? This place is seriously locked down.

[Ezreal's voice is low, just above a whisper as he scans the area]

I can probably warp some people, but those look like cameras. Not sure if it'd be safe. I wonder if there's anywhere else we can come at it?

[He looks around for blind spots to slip into or ducts that might be accessible.]

If we could find uniforms like they have, we could try to blend in long enough to get through.

[It was a long shot, but Duo didn't know the layout well enough to be able to call a secondary route.]

One sec, guys. I'm going to see if there's a weak point.

[Rise, concentrating on her Enlightened abilities, tries to use them to get an idea of the layout of the corridors and where the guards are, looking for any gaps in their coverage. She doesn't know if she can see those cameras - she's pretty sure they're cameras, based on her own Warp Band and her perusals of Gigan electronics stores.]

[Hayato had zoned in on those first. He gives them a wary look and nods.]

Definitely cameras.

[He'd only been staring at Gigan camera technology for 80% of his stay here. He glances to Rise, waiting for the results of her scan before offering anything else. He was muscle not must of a stealth and sneak kind of guy.]

[ Surprise about Rose's alternate ego would have to come later. Lux focused on the alleged cameras. Her voice was low. ]

I may be able to cloak a few of us as well, but it won't last long. Or I could throw a few lights at the cameras to hide us from them.

[ Rise's scan reveals a few corners where the guards don't seem to be fully patrolling. The cameras, however, fail to register on the information she'll receive at all.

But yes. Guards. They seem to be getting sloppy about patrolling all the way to the end of a hallway and then back. For what it's worth. And one guy just left his post entirely to see if he can get another one to join his arena betting pool. (He isn't having much luck.) ]

Alright, I found a gap in their patrols.

[Which is conveniently shareable as a mental picture thanks to the wonders of telepathy, and she does so.]

Lux, if you or someone can do something about the cameras we should have a minute or so to get through without being spotted.

I can probably put some darkness in front of the other cameras, if you can't get them all. [She says it to Lux; then she looks at Rise and nods.]

Wouldn't that look suspicious? If we can mask our passage past the cameras, that's probably for the best.

[Ezreal starts feeling around to see if there is any access port in the area]

Or maybe... if we can get into the controls we can get them to playback recorded footage instead of recording. We don't want them to have any reason to think we were even here, after all.

[ The guard with the betting pool, his attempts at garnering more support thwarted, begins making his way back to his assigned post. One of his companions, meanwhile, turns down a corner and begins walking towards the group.

They're still around a few bends from him, but time has become of the essence. ]

Planning time's over guys. Lux, Rose, you're up. Everyone else, start moving. This way!

[They can get away with suspicious gaps in camera footage, she figures, but getting spotted by a guard and reported back to the government is game over for this entire operation.]

[He felt a little bad about not being able to contribute to this planning party, but his specialty leaned itself towards punching holes in things. He nods and follows Rise's lead, keeping his guard up.]

On it!

[Rose holds a hand out, then a swirl of darkness forms over the first camera. She'll leave more to Lux -- coordinating, quickly and silently, to make sure all of the cameras nearby are obscured.]

[Ezreal pops open the console and works furiously, using his Electric typing to try to crack it quickly. If he can, he'll reverse the playback to prior recorded footage, but he won't go too deep if it looks like he won't be successful. Either way, as the guard passes he'll blink behind him, into another blindspot]

[ The guard passes by without noticing anything amiss. No alarms go off about the cameras, either, though with the number of guards here it's only a matter of time before their paths cross again.

Moving forward appears to be a go for now. ]

We need to move now if we're going to make this work. Standing around and deciding leaves us open to another situation like that.

Let's do this.

[As long as the cameras were blocked, they should go... now. Duo nodded. If they were all ready to move, he was, too, and he'd start going.]

[Rise heads along with the group as quietly as she can, keeping her mind on her powers to get a sense for how and where the guards are moving so she can give a telepathic warning if they start to converge on them.]

[Ezreal will keep to the shadows, using his teleportation if needed to avoid detection but scouting a bit ahead of the main party]

[Rose falls in near the back; she'll take the rear and keep an eye out while they move, should a patrol sneak up on them.]

[Hayato ends up not far from Rose, trying to keep his eyes where he can in the case of an ambush.]

[ And holding up the rear is Lux, bending the light around her as she moves to avoid detection. ]

[ They're doing well. They're doing really well! With this many people able to sense danger, the group manages to make their way down the hallways.

Finally they find themselves facing a large pair of sliding doors - stepping in front of them has no effect. There's a small number pad mounted on the wall next to said doors.

About ten paces down the hallway from the giant doors, they also passed a small room (its own door shut) with a few humans in it, but nobody in there is headed out right away. Yet they could, at the slightest sound of a commotion. ]

[Ezreal is going to examine the number pad for any other access points - does it just require a pin or is there a keycard slot?]
