Mewtwo Event Start
They came in a horde. Ferried by enormous water types and a huge flock of flying types, each fully evolved with strange markings across its body. They were angry. They were in pain. And they were here.
Moving across the land like a tidal wave, the horde of strange Pokemon swept across the land, making their way inexorably toward Union, and leaving devastation in their wake. At their head, a Psychic Pokemon of immense, immeasurable power. Covered in armor that did little to mask the scent of rotting flesh that accompanied it, the Pokemon’s mind seemed unburdened by the state of its body as it swept trees from their root with but a contemptuous gesture.
As the Union forces scrambled to meet the army of Pokemon, Ori, the mysterious young person who had visited before appeared in a flash.
Begone, Origin! This no longer concerns you!
The voice thundered in the minds of all present, the rage of the attacking Pokemon palpable as its horde roared in agreement.
Ori gave the Pokemon a sad smile as their body began to glow with an aura of pink light. In an instant, the human was gone, and another, much smaller Pokemon remained.
This is unnecessary. We… they can help you.
I trusted my fate to humanity once. Never again will I make such a foolish mistake.
You will see. They will show you the way.
The two mysterious stones taken from the Gigas installation appeared besides Ori, but their sheen seemed almost nonexistent. Closing their eyes, the Pokemon engulfed the battlefield in an aura of shimmering pink light. The wails and screams of the Pokemon assembled before them grew palpable. Screams of pain, screams of want, screams of beings slowly dying, grasping for a final hope that their master might cast down the accursed humans and find a cure for their malady, a way to allow them to live as whole beings.
But comprehension is not understanding. Heedless of the aura, the Pokemon advanced, a wave of destructive fury hurled to the teeth of the Union column.
[Mew’s Blessing: During this log all characters will be able to communicate with each other and all Pokemon telepathically, and can resonate with them without having to use their Warp Band. They can bond with any Pokemon on the field without the aid of their warp band, so long as they can present a good reason for the enemy to do so.
Children of the Verdant Forest will be especially affected, and during this log they will have a sharp increase in their empathic feelings. They will feel the pain of the cloned Pokemon before them, the pain of being “lesser” beings, incomplete, and the pain of the knowledge that their lives will soon end, the process that created them being unable to sustain their lives.
Kindred Souls will have some empathic ability, but to a lesser degree than Children of the Verdant Forest as outlined above]

It would be tragic indeed for his own headlong assault to carry him past the assault of Mewtwo, only to watch those who went out with him die.
Riolu and the others look just as upset as he is, watching the Malamar.
"This is your justice then? To come upon these people in war, who have done so much to make amends?" For while he is undoubtedly hotbloooded (A calderan, after all,) being constricted has given him a moment to consider what he has seen thus far.

She doesn't let up, though, from using her Child of the Ever-Changing Skies abilities to brighten the sunlight and warm the air in the clearing. Their diplomat is trying to talk this out, yes, but she's gotten confirmation there are other Fire-types in this group.
When she tries to move, she ends up coughing, but gets into a crouch all the same, still shielding Nemesis with her body. "Keep it talking," she says, thinking hard. From what she knows of Garviel, he's a hardy and staunch defender. Until they can get into a better position, she'll trust him to endure.

The flash, the push, the smash of psychic power is unexpected. Gwendolyn's attention had been focused on the Malamar, and she cries out as she's knocked aside, Myris squeaking shrilly. Instinct has her brace herself for impact against the treeline - but something else intervenes, Wagner swooping in to catch her.
..Who are you. Asked, warily, of the armored being, even as fangs are bared at him. He and Gwendolyn had their pact, certainly, and she had his loyalty after the battles with Gigas. But The First had tried to speak to this One, and the Salemance wants to know exactly what is going on here before throwing in on any side.

Adell! Get down, now!
His Houndoom, bold and loyal, knocked Adell's legs out from under him and piled on top of him. The Dark type was smart, and always had been; Beowulf knew he could shake off the Psychic assault better than his partner, so he moved to take the brunt of it.
Still, Mewtwo's psychic force was massive, and Beowulf simply couldn't protect Adell from all of it at once. While he doesn't go flying, the psychic waves tear through his body and mind and illicit a pained yell from him as he clutched his head in the aftermath.
Beowulf stood back up, and growled deeply at the newcomer, the armored Pokemon having earned a solid place on his bad side for hurting his partner. The Houndoom began running ideas through his head, forming a Nasty Plot.
Tabitha, for her part, managed to right herself after the psychic wave, and kept her two eyes trained on Malamar... wouldn't give that guy an inch just because a new pokemon showed up.

Sort of. When Rei stood back up, it was hard, her legs wobbly and eyes wide with near panic.
"Justice? For what? For fighting alongside your kin? Fighting for their rights?"
no subject
Justice for what was done to our leader. None of us asked for this-- any of this!
Go on ahead, representatives of Union. Try to convince it that there's something worthwhile left in this world.
no subject
"Justice?" Adell practically spat. His voice quickly filled with spirit, his soul set ablaze. "What does attacking innocent people who want to live in harmony with Pokemon have to do with justice?!"
His brow furrowed, and eyes narrowed.
"What you're doing's not just. Indiscriminate destruction never is! That's just revenge! Petty revenge and nothing more!"
He threw out an arm to the side, and stepped forward boldly.
"If you want justice, tell us what happened to you. And to your leader. Humans and Pokemon have found common ground in Union... many of us. We've come together as allies, partners, and friends!
If you gave us a chance, maybe we could even become that with you. What injustices were done to you? And by whom? Let us help you find balance, and with it, justice."
His arm dropped back to his side, and his voice calmed.
"Real justice. Because revenge won't give you real peace."

"If the Union is mighty, it is because it is right. Their Pokemon fought so well for them against the Gigans, who enslaved pokemon, instead of treating them as comrades. An assault against them is no justice, but rather the lashing out of someone in too much pain to tell an ally from a foe."
He gestures to his Riolu, and his other companions. "These are my battle brothers. Now tell them... and tell me, why you're lashing out. It may well be that you have the wrong foe. Or that there is no foe now. The union ... can heal much. They healed me, after I fell in battle against a God."

"If you would have justice, real justice, to hold those responsible for their transgressions.. You must know that tis likely those who inflicted this upon you may no longer be here." Her lips purse a moment. She had seen the strange device on their leader; technology. More of the messy underbelly that was Gigas? By the Grace of the Great Tree, just how many dark secrets could those metal warrens hold?
"But we can make it so that none repeat so evil a path again. We aided the Gigases in overthrowing their own aggressors, so that they brought an end to one calling himself 'Emperor'." She remembers all too well how close she herself came to being flattened like a pancake, before they could overturn the control placed upon Registeel; said Emperor was not so fortunate.

"Justice isn't going to come by attacking us. We've all dedicated our lives to preserving peace and harmony with Pokemon. We can ensure that it will not happen again. And we can also, hopefully, find a way to help ease your suffering. But you have to let us. We don't want to fight you. We want to help you find lasting justice."
no subject
...But, they were being civil, and even a wretch like him saw it dishonorable to strike at such a point.
Your 'justice' serves no purpose when there was no purpose to begin with, it drawled, sounding almost apathetic in spite of all of this. None of us lived like you, none of us will die like you, and there is nothing you can do about it.
Those were the facts, cold and brutal as they were. For all of Union's hopes and dreams, there was nothing that any of them could do for someone whose entire existance had been one that was cast in the shadows of despair.
no subject
"No purpose? If there was truly no purpose to begin with, why bother doing any of this at all? Why the anger? I don't understand that.
And... well, even if it's true that we're different, and we come from different origins and may have different ends? We all still exist. Which means we can co-exist."
Tabitha and Beowulf both stopped to look at their partner. Almost as if Adell's head was on backward. The Battle Maniac appealing in a peaceful manner? Still, the Beedrill eased its stance and the Houndoom ceased growling.
"And maybe in co-existence there can be purpose."
no subject
"What's your plan, then?" she asks it - there's been a lot of talking from their end thus far. "What were you planning to 'do about it'?"
Nemesis continues to try flapping her way to behind their potential opponents. If this goes sour, Veronica is already injured. She will need backup!

Garviel says. "What is passed on, beyond our own deaths. Tell us what you've seen, tell us how you've hurt. Tell us your names and your stories, so that we'll remind man to never abuse the Pokémon, their companions and partners, in this way again."
"We can remember, and build a better world. If we can't save you, that's a shame, but we can remember you, and try to set a good example in so doing. Tell us how you suffered. Tell us your stories. Let us remember it, and recount it, so it serves as a lesson, so no one will be so ill-treated again, so that none will misconstrue the lesson."
His eyes are peculiarly gentle as he tries to persuade the Pokémon.
"Please."

"It sounds to me like you don't actually know what you want anymore," is her only comment, before turning her attention to the powerful God-like psychic. The others seem far better equipped to deal with this one than she is.
no subject
"You do live and die the same way we do. We all live in the same world. And we can work together to build a better, brighter one where there's a purpose for everyone and justice for all. A world of peace."
no subject
Obviously.
But it was becoming clear that these particular humans had something else in mind...and didn't plan on backing down. The anger that had been fueling it up till this point faltered at the words of these Unionites, and the creature only snorted in irritation.
You can't 'want' for anything else when there is nothing else, and not even stories will matter on the day when your kind just goes and destroys itself. How can there be 'peace' when your cities and your nations can't even coexist?
We merely intended to speed up the process of the inevitable-- and to be sure that you've no more opportunities for this.

She's not used to this much negotiation. She's having to recognize impatience in herself and trammel it down - her impulse is to give up on assuming it'll listen to reason and then trap it, take it down. But Veronica can't beat this thing alone, if its master's power is any indication. She has to toe the party line.

He stares hared at the Malamar, grey eyes showing little.
"Yes, humanity has fallen in the past. But that is the nature of cycles, and history. We rise, we fall, we rise again with new hope, and more wisdom in our hearts. We can learn, if you take the time to teach. And we'll work with you to push towards a better tomorrow, if that's something you would accept. And if not..."
He looks over the others.
"I know we'll continue to push towards a brighter future regardless. The only question to be answered on this field is whether or not you'll accept a chance to salve your wounds, or not."
no subject
"He's right. Peace isn't a natural state. People and Pokemon alike come to fight one another at times... all for different reasons.
But we're on our way to building a peace between nations, people, and Pokemon that might actually last. While fully wiping out conflict is impossible, we can all still find a way to grow closer. We have a lot of work left to do, it's true, and we're not perfect."
He took a step forward, and clenched his fist in front of him dramatically, fire burning in his eyes.
"But I don't agree with you when you think it's all hopeless and that it's for nothing. Both in what we do, and in whatever burdens you carry. As long as you draw breath, and as long as you have the will, you can try to make things better. Even if both of your arms fall off and your legs are broken, you have to keep going.
Because if you give up and view everything bad as inevitable, it never will change. Hope only dies if you let it."
Sorry this is lame, I really don't think she'd say anything though, she's terse.
no subject
Fine. Show me this 'coexistance' and how far it will go. You've my interest.
...If nothing else, at least this wouldn't be boring.
no subject
It should not work. But it does. There is a heavy THOOM as Wagner the Salamence sets down in a whoosh of dust and air, striding heavily forwards until he is behind Gwendolyn and arching his neck so that he can regard the gathering as a whole. His voice is deep and gravely, and there's an impatient flick of his tail. Witness it for yourself. Then, make your choice, for it will be respected, whatever the outcome.
Gwendolyn resists the urge to rest a hand against his shoulder. He is not the most personable of dragons, and it's already a good sign that he trusts at least her enough to close the gap between them this way.
no subject
"Thank you for giving us a chance, anyway. We'll do everything we can to not let you down."
He knew that wouldn't be easy. The creature had no doubt seen hell and suffering, and it was jaded and cynical... but not so far gone that he wasn't willing to try one more time.
