Clash of the Gigans

The opposing armies meet just outside the forest, the more idiosyncratic forces of Union and its allies up against fully-organized Gigan might. Wheeled transports carry many of the enemy troops while strange metal cylinders with rotating blades keeping them aloft swoop around overhead in a near parody of Flying-type Pokémon. And marching among the soldiers and their transports, unmistakable by their bulk, each wearing a metal band around their middles, are the mighty yet enslaved Gods themselves.

The clifflike bulk of Regirock.

The glacial progression of Regice.

The alien presence of Registeel.

And, dead in the center of the formation, towering over them all, the sheer presence of Regigigas, crown jewel of the Emperor’s ill-gotten forces.

There is no attempt to negotiate. No overtures first, no white flags of truce to try working this out. The Gigan army has come to fight, armed with technology. The Union army has come to defend, armed with the bonds between themselves and their Pokémon. This spirit has earned them an additional boon: blessings from the gods who favor Union, who support the humans they believe in with the hopes their comrades can still be rescued.

Thus the battle is joined.

The Emperor stood astride the mightiest of the Gigases, his arms folded within the steel suit and an arrogant sneer upon his withered features. As the Gigas moved ponderously forward, it swung its heavy arms at his command, devastating anything and everything that might stand against it.

Haruka has her Sky Plate strapped to her back and her Fairy-typed sword in her hand as she glares up at the most colossal titan Gigas has brought. He's there, she just knows it. The head of the enemy forces - the one who most wishes for war. Union doesn't want this. Most of Gigas doesn't want this. Only him.

Makes her job easy.

"That one," she murmurs to the group with her, nodding to the flying device closest to the god: if they're quick about Teleporting into it, then overpowering its pilots, they'll have gained an advantage, perhaps even without being detected. They don't have to defeat these gods, or the Gigan army. They just have to dethrone the puppetmaster.

If somebody could teleport her, though, that'd be great. She's not going to ask for it, however. Is there anybody around here who speaks fluent Haruka?

Waver looked up at Haruka's words, spying the flying machines above their party with a firm, analytical eye. His own armaments were minimal-- just a handful of spells that he had prepared beforehand to heal and support the group, a few of his smaller pokemon, and his ever-handy Teleport ability which should prove to be more than useful in and of itself.

If he could get his mind to stop racing in panic.

This was Regigigas, the collosus he had encountered during their first venture into Gigas for the two-fold goal of cultural exchange and gathering information. The pained look in the titan's eyes would forever be etched into his memory-- but, he had come this far.

There was no turning back now.

"We can get there without problem-- space is the only issue here."

For it took one anti-social person to understand another, but there was no way Waver could guarantee that there would be enough space for all of them in the vehicle without throwing the pilots overboard-- a strategy that he did not wish to take.

James Gordon looks up at the flying machine, flanked by Blastoise and A Breloom, with a Rotom eager for a rematch flitting from one shoulder to another.

"Send just a few, those most crucial to the plan. None of the larger pokemon," an apologetic glance towards Mike, who simply nods his understanding, "just those who can get in, disable the Gigans quickly, and try to seize... whatever the hell they call those. Lauren knows Spore." And really looks in the mood to punch something annoying.

"Everyone else stays out here and tries to slow that thing down."

There is a flicker of pale silver sparkles, each reaching and touching those present (both Human and Pokémon), as Sophia casts a Protect spell on her party. If they were going to aim to take their enemies by surprise, then it would only benefit them to be prepared.

"Those best suited to ambush should go. Elhaz knows how to use his powders to send others to Sleep, but he would not fit into that...thing." She shuddered at the distant boom of destruction being waged by the Regigigas. "Once it is secure, Waver, perhaps you can teleport in the rest of us who may fit. I for one would only get in the way in an attack.." And she did want to try and observe a bit longer from the ground. They had chained up the Great One for a long time. Perhaps there was still something fixed to him closer to the ground, as well as high above?

Her Lucario pressed close, before stepping forwards towards Haruka, growling with confidence when the Porygon2 floated to join her. Ouka and Ansuz could do it. They could accompany the other humans in place of mother-trainer until the whirling machine was secured.

Registeel: Gwendolyn, Adell, Rose, Saber, Garviel

Union had sent some of it’s finest, and this group was no exception. Before them were several small bunches of troopers, just out of range, ready to defend. But that was the small fry, because the big Donphan in the room was their backup. A massive steel titan, Registeel, stood with it’s harness glistening in the late morning sun. The Gigans were ready...though it didn’t seem like the Unionites had been spotted...yet.

Well, if Saber has to fight a god, it may as well be the one who's also a weapon of metal...although seeing these used as war machines by the Gigans leaves a bitter taste in her mouth.

She reconfigures her Warp Band, ready to summon reinforcements to help strike at the titan's foundations.

"I am not one for speeches, and I don't know all of you. However, we are all united in this, and I know your resolve is as strong as mine if you volunteered for this mission. Therefore, I have but one question."

"Are we prepared to charge?"

Entei and Moltres’ Blessing, not bringing any pokemon quite yet.

A hulking man in armor splits his pale face with a genuine smile. "Always." He grasps his sword. and activates it, arcing lightning down the length of the Paragon blade. "Courage and Honor." He says, as if invoking them for the others present, meeting the eyes of each of his comrades, human or otherwise, in turn.

Adell, for his part, smiled confidently. Truth be told, he knew the odds they were up against, and they were tough ones. Even if he was confident they could easily disable the Gigan soldiers, fighting a god was never going to be easy, even if he knew he'd have a typing advantage. A god was still a god, and being weak to a tickle would only make you laugh a little harder. Though hopefully... they wouldn't need to fight the god. Freeing it would be enough to turn the tide.

Still, he put aside reservation. Now was the time to be decisive, to do what they set out to do.

"You know it. Good to go any time. ...Just be careful, everyone. We're all coming back alive. And as a little insurance..."

He quickly and quietly popped off a Safeguard for the team, and readied himself to charge on the order.

Darkrai's Blessing // Talonflame, Braviary, Rapidash, Dugtrio, Kadabra, Salamence

There was a stomp of a hoof from a Rapidash stallion, restless and ready to begin. Pressing a hand to his shoulder, Gwendolyn turned her attention not to Saber, but to the Salamence who had settled himself into the dust behind them. The Pokémon had his own grievances with Gigas, Gods aside, and he rumbled acknowledgement - he too was ready. He would rise into the skies when the time was right, and not a moment before. The Talonflame and Braviary settled along his back cawed in agreement.

"I believe we are as ready as we can be, Saber." Turning, Gwendolyn placed her hands on Gladr's back and hopped astride the Rapidash, then pulled her spear from the ground. The Gigans would not expect a Valkyrie on ponytaback, and Gladr was one of the fastest beasts she knew. "We should strike now, while they mill about in preparation - and I have one with me who can disrupt them from below."

..Of course, the Dugtrio had only agreed to help on account because Gigas threatened his own world domination plans, but she wasn't about to mention that here.

There was no hiding the frost titan in the heat of the midday sun, for not even the glistening bindings used to tame the creature could contain the chill that rolled from its massive body in solemn, misty clouds. The troops of soldiers that marched forth as both it’s vanguard and protection were partially obscured by the thick fog surrounding them, and the soldiers who stood closest to Regice, the monsterous golem of ice, found that the sun itself seemed to be blocked from view.

For the moment, the group of Unionites were safe from view. But, time was of the essence as the sun made it’s daily trek across the sky. They needed to move quickly if they wanted to keep the element of surprise.

Zapdos/Raikou's blessing

Kurapika breathes out slowly, seeing his breath in the chilling air - the clouds will help.

"I can slip in close," He explains to the others in a sotto voice. "I can be unnoticeable, create a distraction, letting the rest of you rush in while they're distracted." He usually isn't the rush in type, but they did have to act fast. If given the go-ahead, he'll start to fade from sight, or rather he suddenly became incredibly unimportant - eyes naturally starting to slip off to look at everything else.

Right can hear Urataros' grumbling about the chill beneath the latter's breath as the Blastoise tries to keep quiet. And he can't blame the Water-type; it's uncomfortable, going from hot summer to sudden chill. But he simply pats the turtle Pokemon on the arm, silently reassuring his friend.

"That doesn't sound bad," the Enlightened agreed, wings fluttering as if testing for flight. For some reason, he feels like the winds are in his favor, for once. "And we can send one of the fliers ahead to help out. Right, guys?" He adds as he turns to face the others in their group.

While the rest of his Pokemon are set for battle, his (unusually dolled-up) Stoutland is sticking very close to him, occasionally nudging his leg, as if to reassure him...like he's feeling down, for some reason. Which he doesn't seem to be.

Zapdos/Raikou's Blessing, Hitmonchan, Infernape, Gallade, Spiritomb, and Hariyama

Yuuna was not one for just standing around. And she wasn't willing to let anyone go haring off alone, either. That was a recipe for getting someone killed. She coughs, voicing her disagreement, and holds up a hand.

"No, we're not going to be sending in any fliers or running in alone. That's a good way to get it's attention and get not only the individual killed, but also the flier. We're going to need to move as a unit, and we need to do it on the ground. We don't want to be on that thing's eye level."

Which means it's time to start moving, revealing one of her plans. Pointing to an enormous collection of rock a few yards ahead of them. Tall spires, smoothworn, and probably remnants of the war that shattered this area long ago.

"We need to move behind it, off to it's side. It's slow and I wager it turns like a drunken Avalugg. If we can circle a little bit we'll have a better chance of it not seeing us. And we can use that rock formation up ahead to help us. Let's get there, fast, and then set ourselves up around it, where it can't see. Then we can jump on it from behind before it can turn."

The ice one again. The presence is familiar, and it sends a shiver through her, but that wasn't important. Raine listens quietly to all the proposed plans, taking her own careful analysis of the situation around them.

"I agree with Yuuna. It's not prudent for our group to separate at this time."

Before they can start moving, though, she casts two preliminary spells around them to increase their defenses, a reflect and a light screen.

Regirock: Rei, Ami, Harry, Pamela, Lenna

With the forest in front of it and the desert on the horizon, Regirock could easily be mistaken for a part of the scenery - if an eye-arresting one - if it weren’t moving. The group of soldiers set as its guard seem determined to march on at any cost, communicating with each other through headset and handhelds so that soldiers to the left of the titan don’t lose step with soldiers to the right. An open-topped vehicle rumbles along behind the god. It seems that’s a central communication hub of sorts, from the amount of technology blinking onboard - and the woman in the back seat barking orders into a handheld device. The god, however, doesn’t care. It just walks. Inexorably.

Moltres/Entei Blessing. Gardevoir, Stoutland, Tyrantrum, Rotom, Pachirisu

"Well, that's scary." Harry mutters, looking out at the imposing parade stomping its way toward the forest. He's crouched low behind cover, staff gripped tightly in one hand as he takes a measure of the situation. He hasn't called out any of his Pokemon yet, fewer bodies to spot, but his Warp Band is charged and ready to bring in reinforcements.

It's bad. There's a lot of troops marching in and maybe even more Pokemon supporting them in pokeballs. Enlightened abilities are good but guns are guns and there's the little problem of that god towering over all of them. But, even if there's trouble up ahead there's opportunity to spot as well. He raises his staff a little, pointing toward the procession.

"That big truck back there looks important, don't you think? Sure would be a shame if something bad happened to it."

Zapdos/Raikou's Blessing, Gardevoir, Gyarados, Lucario, Surfachu, and Arcanine

"It certainly would," Rei says with a smirk, sliding down from Casius's back. Patting the Arcanine's mane, she shook out her bowstring, going ahead and getting it attached and ready for use.

"We could probably make it explode from over here, give them a distraction. Or have one of the electric types demolish whatever communication's array is on it."

Darkrai's blessing, Lucario, Magnezone, Luxray, Golurk and Azumarill

"I brought plenty of seeds with me," Pamela mentioned. "I can make plants grow to otherwise impossibly large sizes and control them...so I can create some obstacles to slow their advances considerably first and then let you all through them."

She would prefer to be fighting more closely with her Pokemon so that she could protect them, but everyone had a job to do here, and it looked like the best use she could be to everyone here was to stall as many Gigan forces as possible.

Regirock continues its advance, squashing the underbrush beneath its feet. The woman in the truck behind it turns her head to look at something, then barks a few orders into her handheld. One group of the guard breaks off and begins driving over to where some of Union's soldiers are riding their Pokémon into battle. The Gigan soldiers are definitely receiving orders from her, from the way they're listening intently to something within their helmets.

Scouting: Minako, Sinbad, Orihime, Rise

The sun beat down on the grasslands, rolling plains spread out before the small recon team. They may have been a hodgepodge, but they were what was available and the leaders of the Union Alliance needed every scrap of help they could get. So far, there wasn’t much to see or report on, but the group was fast approaching a point where the terrain changed. Hills and trees dotted the area, a small scrubland with just enough cover to make it treacherous. The mission is to investigate the area, as flying types had spotted a pair of jeeps making a move in this general direction, but instructions on what to do? That was left open ended by Command. So...get to work!

Sinbad was up in the air along with the true fliers, levitating - the sun was hot, but he can bear with it for the time being. Nice thing he noticed over time is people generally do not look up unless something catches their attention.

Okay - I'm in position - keep all your senses open, we're looking for dust clouds or pokemon suddenly scattering to home in on.

While Sinbad keeps a physical eye on the sky, Rise is below, using her extra senses to search for enemies with her mind, while her Pokémon stand protectively around her and the less experienced Orihime.

Can everyone hear me? Everyone can speak to me like this, and anyone who received a blessing from Cresselia should be able to take to everyone. It's much quieter and more reliable if we get into a fight, she thinks at her companions.

There's not much to see yet. Rise's extra senses do pick up on movement deeper in the trees, but nothing too close. They'll have to move in if they want to get a bead on anything specific. It could be an enemy group, or it could be a group of spooked pidgey.

Darkrai's Blessing: Ralts + Baseball Bat

Orihime was just grateful to be included in a group at all. She knew she had little to offer, armed with nothing but a bat she 'liberated' from the athletics department at school, and the proud Ralts that had surprised her with the same determination to fight that she had. Who was she to say no?

She blinked in surprise when she first heard the voices of her allies. That was amazing, how were they doing that? There was a quick nod before she remembered that such an action wouldn't likely be seen.

Honestly, she still wanted to know what a jeep was, but didn't want to seem dumb for asking. If it was strange and/or threatening, that was probably going to be it.

I can hear you both! she responded, gripping her baseball bat tightly and taking a short, sharp breath to steady herself. Ready to respond wherever I'm needed!

The Ralts standing close by hoisted its standard a little higher, its small mouth set into a firm and determined frown.
