Arrival in Gigas

The City of Gigas is unlike anything the people of Union have ever seen before. The city is immense, a sprawling metropolis that covers the land as far as the eye can see. Built up primarily around enormous centralized towers, unlike Union these towers are dark concrete buildings, covered in glass windows. The buildings seem to serve any number of functions, and have a startling variety in construction, style, and even size, creating a unique skyline that is breathtaking to behold. The city is connected with roads of asphalt, upon which whiz smoke-belching steel carriages at frightful speeds, the engines (and piercing, constant horns) creating an ever-present din that engulfs the city in loud, chaotic sound.

“Downtown,” as the Gigans know it, is a huge collection of stores, apartments, and businesses. Apparently, the larger homes are built in Calderan-style but tend to be further from the main commotion of the downtown areas, of which Gigas citizens assure Union citizens that there are several, each with their own district name and culture. The technology is quite advanced as well, full color televisions are standard in every home and built in devices so slim and with such sharp images that they seem decades ahead of Union’s own technology. Pokemon are still quite present in Gigas, many people riding flying types and the buildings having huge perches to accommodate them. As with the vehicles below, however, Gigas seems to regulate air traffic to individual lanes and the birds seem well-trained as they convey their trainers to and fro.

Humans are just that, here, Human. No unusual shapes and sizes like the Enlightened and Earthkin of the Union Alliance, and those displaying unusual traits receive odd looks. Like many civilizations to the east, Battling is a common sport though in this place it’s more like the combat arenas of old. Several stadiums dot the cityscape, the sounds of Pokemon Battles and cheering crowds echoing for blocks all around, and it’s a stadium where humans are not welcome. Unless, of course, they want to make a show and spar against a Pokemon, of course.

This is Gigas, the City of Reclamation. Union civilians have free rein to explore this grand city as councillors are invited into the massive capitol building to negotiate with the Gigan leaders. Gigas civilians, for their part, are polite, friendly even. While many of them are caught in the bustle of their daily lives they regard Union citizens with interest and curiosity, willing to talk about their city, extolling its virtues while complaining about the noise, the crowds, the lines, and the expense all the while. One thing is clear though, the people of Gigas are proud of their city and their accomplishments. This is their home, and they are eager to show it off to the world.

If I can get my hand on schematics, private purchases of their technology may not be necessary, but you don't need to spend your money on it, Rei, I have plenty saved up. [Since Rei doesn't really let her pay for much.]

Speaking of the Gigases, I can find absolutely nothing except vague references to them yet. For something so... important as to name your city after them, I can't find more than "And Gigas is named after the Great Gigases."

[She sighed as she lightly tossed her notebooks to Rei.] I'm afraid they aren't very detailed, but it's everything I've read so far. It's... impressive, but very... disconnected.

I don't know if a war will be necessary if we can get proper travel between Union and Gigas.

Well, thinking on it as a business purchase, it'd be easy to write off family money but I won't force you to take my money.

[Smiling gently, she catches the notebook and flips to some of the more recent entries, thinking more on that, absently replying.]

I hope the Council will be successful, though the Seekers mission is cause for some concern. They're holding Megastones or something similar, obviously, and that isn't something they'll part with willingly.

I just don't wish to force you to spend so much of it on me, Rei, you already do so much for me. [She gently stroked Rei's hair away from her face.]

It is curious, isn't it, that they would have megastones when they rely so little on their pokemon.

It's not forcing anything. It is something for Union's benefit, after all.

[She smiles up, finally giving Ami her full attention.]

They probably have them as curios, more than anything. Do they know what they are? Do they know what they're capable of?

You're wonderful that way. [She smiled as she linked their fingers.]

Hmm, I can do some digging and find out?

I do try. [She bends her neck and kisses Ami's fingers lightly.]

And I would like that. But honestly I think it's best we don't. Just in case Gigas officials are watching us more closely than they appear.

What try, it's innate. [She smiled and leaned forward and kissed the tip of Rei's nose.]

Alright, though I will see what I can do, I want to make sure we have enough information about everything.

[Rei scrunched up her nose a bit.]

Good. I trust you'll find something at least. But keep it discreet. I've decided that I am going to be helping the Seekers. With my ring, and all.

[She smiled as she stroked Rei's jaw.]

Well, so long as no one goes writing me important information in a love letter I should be just fine with remaining discreet.

Well if anyone but me is writing you a love letter, I think I'll have to have words with them.

Mnn, with your birthday and our anniversary so close together perhaps I should endeavor to write you one. [She smiled as she pressed a kiss to Rei's brow.]

I think I can figure out how to wax poetically about my greatest love.

[Rei smirks and leans forward, kissing Ami on her lower jaw.]

I'd love to hear that.

Hmm let's see... I could try it as a haiku first.

A beauty held close,
Both in mind and in body
She's my everything.

[With each and every syllable, she pressed a kiss to Rei's face.]

Or perhaps a sonnet with an ABAB rhyme scheme?

She is my everything and holds my heart
What she saw in me, I cannot say
It is darkest agony every moment apart
From her side I shall never stray.

The one might need a little more work. [She laughed as she wrapped her arms around Rei's neck.]

Or my absolute favorite, I could calculate every divine inch of you in a mathematical equation. The gentle curve of your neck along to your shoulder, the length of each splendid digit, the perfect bend of your hips... especially that. [She laughed again even as she blushed.]

[It's difficult not to laugh, really, because this is the strangest love serenade she's ever had. It's very, very Ami, and that makes it a wonderful thing...but it's still quite strange.]

I love you, Ami. That's perhaps the second sweetest thing you've ever said to me.

[Well, even Ami understands how strange this all is. She pressed her forehead to Rei's.]

I love you too, though what was the first thing?

'Will you marry me'

[Rei winks at that, punctuating the sentence with a kiss.]

Sadly, I can only propose once. But I think that will eventually be replaced when we both say "I do." [She whispered as she stroked Rei's hair.]

[Finally setting aside the notepad, she turns to one side and twists, dropping Ami down underneath her and peppering her neck with another kiss or five.]

Now, let me whisper a few sweet nothings into your ears.
