The Situation in Glacier

The rescuers have been allowed a night's rest following their arrival on the outskirts of Glacier. Though there is ample evidence of their enemy's presence in the form of burning buildings and ruined settlements, the creature itself appears to have wandered off briefly to wreak havoc in a different corner of the frozen tundra. Or perhaps it was taking a brief siesta following so much exertion - murder and destruction was tiring work. Whatever the case, it seems to be an opportune time to descend into the city and assist those remaining there.

If they are brave, they might even try to take back the city itself. But the primary goal, of course, is to save as many people as possible before the great dragon returned.

The few people of Glacier who had guided them this far point out the less-traveled paths by which it may be possible to enter the city unnoticed. It is determined that they will fan out in groups, both in search of survivors and in search of the companions of the dragon who had so effectively laid waste to the city. Perhaps they might still gain the upper hand.

((You may respond to your threads now! Not all the groups will have immediate mod starters going up, so feel free to initiate threading; a mod will step in as soon as possible. As usual, we will be tagging on a 24-hour basis whether or not all group members have tagged in.

When responding, please list the Pokemon your character is bringing with them.

While the final portion of this event will go up on Sunday, October 4th, please also feel free to continue tagging this portion of the log as these threads will almost certainly not be finished yet.))

[Feliks hasn't actually seen a Charizard X before, and isn't quite sure what they are -- but gosh, they sure look kind of dragon-y, don't they? He calls out another Pokemon, an Altaria.]

Fryderyk? You know what to do.

[The Altaria sings out a reply to him, rising higher into the sky to avoid the Inferno attacks and darting in closer to the advancing line of Pokemon. When he's in range, he lets loose with a powerful Moonblast towards the nearest one. Huzar the Dragonair, not one to stand around waiting for orders, lashes out with a Thunder Wave at another, sort of vaguely hoping to paralyze its wings and get it out of the sky. She takes a hit from Inferno in the process that she doesn't seem too happy about it, but ultimately it isn't enough to slow her down too much just yet.]

Sonnova!

[Yuuna's whole body sways for an instant, her form a blur of motion as she leaps clear, several yards to one side of the attacks, and onto the Salamence she'd had in reserve. Detect can't save her for long, but it's a blessing she's happy to have.

And if they want to play it this way, then she'll play it this way.]

Kuina, Susume, let's go!

[The two Dragon-types whip into the air like twin comets. The Dragonite barrels into one of the Charizard's with a Dragon Rush and the Salamence does a flyby, ripping at another Charizard's wings and face with a Dragon Claw.]

[Merrill wasn't prepared for an attack quite that vigorous, and she looks to be left completely open as the Infernos come rushing toward her. But thank the gods for loyal Pokemon like Drippy, who only narrowly manages to dive in front of her with a Protect to deflect the fiery barrage away momentarily.]

Drippy... ma serannas.

[Now able to counterattack, Merrill once again switches tactics, this time launching a Fairy-type Arlathan's Grace attack toward the encroaching Charizard army.]

(ooc: Arlathan's Grace is an area of effect Fairy type attack. Damage lasts for as long as Merrill is able to sustain it. Power should only be around 60 or so - comparable to something like Thunderbolt - but Merrill heals 1/4 of the damage she deals.)

[The Charizards' arrival was equally surprising for Waver-- and he froze in sheer panic, caught up in a wave of wondering how many more assaults they would receive before the enemy ran out or they fell beneath the fire. Having never seen a Charizard or any of it's more powerful forms before, he wasn't sure what to do--

--Atlas, being the braver soul, shoved the terrified Mageling out of the way of the attack.]

Atlas? That--

[The Seismitoad nudged him none too gently and cast the human a stern look-- as if to tell Waver to stop freaking out. Drawing in a breath, Waver shook his head and pulled himself back to his feet.]

Right.... Maybe I should try....

[Centering his focus, he fired off a Moonblast of his own at the onslaught of Charizards-- and prayed to whatever gods were listening that the spell would work.]

[For all that Fai wants to keep to a more defensive strategy, the sad truth is that he isn't much made for such tactics. His powers, apart from his shields, are mainly offensive - and while shields are useful, there can be tactical issues if you raise too many of them between yourself and the enemy. You don't want to accidentally protect them from your own attacks, after all. And just shielding for defense every time you're attacked is tiring.

But maybe- Focusing, he raises a glowing, dome shaped shield around the group and then pushes it out as far as he can. It's not entirely solid, more like a strangely substantial shock wave, and the goal is mainly to try to break up the line of Charizards a bit, cause a moment of confusion that the others can make use of.

Mr Sunshine, on the other hand, has sprinted closer to the human handlers on his own volition. With a snarl, he sends out a cloud of Smog over part of the group, careful to try to keep it away from Pink Thing's Mate - aka Feliks - as much as possible.]

Da--

[Isabela can't do much to mitigate the Thunder Wave, getting stuck in the middle of the Rotom lines on her way out. Thankfully, her Tyrantrum notices her distress and charges in, taking the brunt of the Overheat barrage and Crunching any Rotom that's too close to his captain.]

[Merrill takes the Overheat attack, managing to keep her concentration and maintain Arlathan's Grace until the Rotom are out of range. She's definitely beat up from the exertion of the battle, but less than she could be considering she was able to absorb some health from their enemies before they flew off. And once they're out of sight, she leans against her staff with a sigh, catching her breath.]

[The Overheat staggers Yuuna despite her armor, and the layers of shields, but it doesn't knock her down. Still, she smells more than a little bit cooked, which...is not good.

Growling in anger, she calls back the two dragons...and looks around, starting to take stock of the situation. They'd beaten away the attackers, and that meant there were people needing to be tended to. So, out comes her medical kit. She hands a bag of Super-Potions over to Uzushio, and the Politoed hops along to distribute them to trainers and Pokemon.

Walking on over to Bela, she pulls out a Paralyze heal and sprays that on too, before liberally applying Burn Heal to her own hands.]

Well! That was exciting. Anyone too hurt to use a potion? and is there anyone in need of medical attention? Sound off!

[Feliks could take the Overheat pretty well, but pulls back to avoid it all the same, largely to spare Fryderyk from getting hit along with him. As the enemies retreat, he swoops back down towards the group and calls back all the Pokemon he's not riding on.]

I'm good! Fryderyk and I could probably use a potion or two, but we're ok. Fai?

[Not that he's not worried about everyone else, too, but he has priorities. Fai's still recovering from his time in the wilderness.]
untalented: (oh my god~)

[Waver only managed to avoid the Overheat attack because Atlas shoved him in the dirt once again. Lost as he was in a real fight, he was glad to have the observant Seismitoad around...

Patting his loyal friend on the arm, Waver all but slumped as he heaved a sigh of relief.]

....I think we're fine here, [He called, pulling his singed hat off and throwing it down in the snow. The lanky little ponyta-tail he had his hair tied into flopped freely-- but his hair was still mercifully out of his face.] I know I've got a few potions somewhere around here....
