The Situation in Glacier

The rescuers have been allowed a night's rest following their arrival on the outskirts of Glacier. Though there is ample evidence of their enemy's presence in the form of burning buildings and ruined settlements, the creature itself appears to have wandered off briefly to wreak havoc in a different corner of the frozen tundra. Or perhaps it was taking a brief siesta following so much exertion - murder and destruction was tiring work. Whatever the case, it seems to be an opportune time to descend into the city and assist those remaining there.

If they are brave, they might even try to take back the city itself. But the primary goal, of course, is to save as many people as possible before the great dragon returned.

The few people of Glacier who had guided them this far point out the less-traveled paths by which it may be possible to enter the city unnoticed. It is determined that they will fan out in groups, both in search of survivors and in search of the companions of the dragon who had so effectively laid waste to the city. Perhaps they might still gain the upper hand.

((You may respond to your threads now! Not all the groups will have immediate mod starters going up, so feel free to initiate threading; a mod will step in as soon as possible. As usual, we will be tagging on a 24-hour basis whether or not all group members have tagged in.

Gil, Lucca, wait a second.

[ Hold on, seriously? That's how they were going to act? Lux could feel her blood practically boiling, even in the cold. How dare you treat your pokemon that way!

Offering out her Warp Band as well, she activates it, the device glowing to life and expanding on her wrist. ]

Don't worry, we won't hurt you. We're here to help.

[Lucca waits, one hand extended and the other on the defensive device. If it tries that again, it's going to have a bad day, but she'll let the two try and talk him down.]

[The Warp Band activation is a surprise to the creature, and it rears back as if poised to attack. But Lux and Ezreal will sense, quite clearly, a certain sort of reluctance.

They can't help.

They need to go away now.

There is desperation there, and a mingled mixture of emotion - perhaps surprisingly, it is love that echoes the strongest. To convince them of the impossibility, it sends another half-hearted Ancient Power their way and bays once more.

From inside, there echo some more screams that are definitely not their imagination.]

((Hey guys! The final portion of the event is up; however, we will still be responding to these threads regularly as scheduled. The outcome of these threads may also influence how the major fight goes.))

[An ancient power that meets another force field, at least. Lucca steps forward, leveling her plasma pistol not at the Aurorus, but at the doorway. Firing, a cutting beam arcs through the door's hinges, causing it to fall away.]

Get out of our way. Or I will shoot you, next.

"No wait, any good Spark learns about this one."

The ones that don't learn it usually die screaming, which was not unheard of among Gil's ancestors. When encountering an out of control creature, it was important NOT to assert that you had power over it. Many would-be mad scientists had died screaming things at their creation like "I created you! You exist to serve me! You can't possibly turn on me! No! AAAAAAAAHHH!!" (Followed usually by gurgling and being messily devoured or worse.)

Gil spoke firmly and clearly to the Aurorus. "I am not your master. I have no control over you. But it would help us if you let us pass."

Unfortunately, Gil didn't have his warp band active, and so didn't have any insight into why it was guarding the door, but maybe the non-confrontational language would help.

[Ezreal passes Gil's message on to the Aurorus, taking a bit of a risk as well]

We come from a far-away land. We have heard of the problems here, we want to help those that live here. Please, let us pass

[Lucca's threat is met with nothing but a gaze of defiance as it lumbers to stand in front of the broken door. She could shoot if she pleased, but she will not find it helpful to her cause. Gil and Ezreal, however, succeed in giving it a bit more cause. It refrains from attack, this time, looking highly uncertain.

They must leave if they want to help...]

Aura!

[And now the cries are obvious now that the door is open. Through the doorway, a vague struggle is occurring in the main lobby - one of the men appears to be subduing a woman in a nurse's outfit while she constantly calls the same name over and over. The second man appears in the doorway and barks at the Aurorus.]

Do you persist in choosing to protect your so-called 'master'? We have been generous - very generous. You do not yet understand true freedom - we are to purge this land of all the unworthy. But if you no longer wish to carry out your part of the agreement, then we will give you this freedom that you may yet understand.

[At this, the Aurorus freezes up in obvious horror before turning back towards the assailants. The Warp Band conveys a single obvious message. Go away!

This is followed by the launching of a Stealth Rock that instantly begins to spiral around the entrance of the hospital.

The situation appears to have become infinitely more complicated. Through the doorway, a vast number of other Pokemon are visible as well - Magmar, Torkoal, Charizard, and even a yet unknown species.]

[Lucca's attention turns to the humans that are obviously threatening this woman, gun training on them now. The weapon whines up, but she doesn't fire. It's obvious what's going on.

With a whisper:]

I can drop the humans. But someone's going to need to get in there and help that nurse.

[Ezreal springs into action, dropping the Warp Band connection and blinking on top of the man holding the nurse, launching a barrage of energy bolts to drop him and free her]

((24 hours!))

[...Well, that was new and unexpected.

The nurse screams, both men hardly even seem to realize what is happening, and the mass of Pokemon simply stares at the unexpected visitor.

Then about ten Flamethrowers are launched towards Ezreal and the nurse simultaneously. This would be unfortunate, but the man subduing the nurse is also still there, so maybe he'll get burnt to a crisp, too. Small blessings.

Outside, the Aurorus wheels around in alarm at the sound of the continued screams. If the others want to try to sneak in, now's the time.]

[Welp. Ezreal rolls into the nurse, grabs her by the hand and blinks out of the middle of the fiery onslaught. That's the #1 place he doesn't wanna be right now]

EZREAL!

[ Her mind blanks for a brief moment as he rushes in, and their attacks are turned on him and the nurse. Dear Savior, was he--

Throwing a Prismatic Barrier out, she quickly activates her Warp Band, summoning Regina the Blissey. ]

Regina, Heal Pu--

[ And then he appeared again, out of the line of literal fire, she takes a breath before focusing in again. ]

Sing for them, Regina! We need to save everyone we can!

[ The Blissey looks at her partner, a bit confused, then immediately begins Singing a gentle melody. ]

Gil pulled his lightning rod out at this point and, not quite able to follow Ezreal when he was blinking around so much, blasted freely into the doorway with the power set to LOW. Not enough to kill even one person, much less the small crowd inside, but more than enough to hurt like hell and leave people dazed and confused if they got hit by part of the bolt.

If he DID end up zapping Ezreal, he figured, he could apologize later.

[And then she'll lob in a couple of her rubber toys. Instead of the horrible Zubats, it's Jigglypuffs this time, which pop as they hit the floor of the house, and unleash a Hypnosis-like wave of sound to help the Blissey lull the group into a sleepy trance...]

[There is a faint cry from the man left in the middle of the Flamethrowers, though possibly no one is too terribly concerned about him. His partner certainly doesn't seem to be, anyway.]

Imbeciles!

[He is on the verge of speaking further when the waves of lightning and hypnosis descend upon them. For the next moment, all is chaos as Pokemon haphazardly fall over mid-attack or sporadically twitch with the force of the electricity.

The Aurorus looks dumbfounded. Where is -- ]

Aura!

[The nurse detaches herself from Ezreal and dashes straight through the Stealth Rocks, heedless of whatever they may do; nurse and Pokemon share a brief, happy reunion that entails a lot of swinging around from Aurorus's neck before they turn to their rescuers.]

Thank you! But please - there's more inside! They said they wouldn't hurt us as long as we continued to treat them - but I don't know what they've done with the patients. Please hurry!

[Well, Lucca's just going to slowly make her way around the Stealth Rocks, nudging them out of the way with a force-field as she walks...]

Right then. C'mon guys.

I think I'll be more of use from out here. Keep your warp bands open, I'll have tips.

[He started going around the building and attaching sensors to it. With each one, his warp band (which had several non-standard upgrades) started building a clearer map of the inside of the building. If this toy worked, it would eventually even give him the locations of anything moving around inside!]

I'll come with you, too. This way.

[The nurse gives Aurorus one more hug before she hurries in front of them. The hospital is not a large building, Gilgamesh will see quickly from his analysis. The eastern wing is deserted, while the western half is brimming with life.]

You... You all can take on just about anything, right?

[Her face radiates hope. Don't let her down!]

Of course we can!

[ Lux answers without any kind of hesitance. If she had been scared before, it melts away almost immediately. These people needed a quick shot of optimism, and she would be more than happy to oblige.

It likely doesn't hurt that she naturally glitters and glows, either. ]

[Adjusting her glasses, she keeps her band tuned to Gil's, her own having several...interesting...modifications of it's own.]

REALLY need to figure out how to improve the resolution on this thing...There's either a lot of things moving in the west wing, or one big thing. Either way, be careful. I'll try to send you more info from out here.

((Aaaand let's fast forward a bit since we're drawing near event close.))

[Gilgamesh's resolution will suddenly and magically improve as he attempts to map out the area for the explorers, indicating at least four humans moving around and a large number of Pokemon. The nurse pauses.]

This is the west ward - where they stay for treatment. I'll... leave you to it.

[She backs away, looking a bit anxious.]
