The Situation in Glacier
The rescuers have been allowed a night's rest following their arrival on the outskirts of Glacier. Though there is ample evidence of their enemy's presence in the form of burning buildings and ruined settlements, the creature itself appears to have wandered off briefly to wreak havoc in a different corner of the frozen tundra. Or perhaps it was taking a brief siesta following so much exertion - murder and destruction was tiring work. Whatever the case, it seems to be an opportune time to descend into the city and assist those remaining there.
If they are brave, they might even try to take back the city itself. But the primary goal, of course, is to save as many people as possible before the great dragon returned.
The few people of Glacier who had guided them this far point out the less-traveled paths by which it may be possible to enter the city unnoticed. It is determined that they will fan out in groups, both in search of survivors and in search of the companions of the dragon who had so effectively laid waste to the city. Perhaps they might still gain the upper hand.
((You may respond to your threads now! Not all the groups will have immediate mod starters going up, so feel free to initiate threading; a mod will step in as soon as possible. As usual, we will be tagging on a 24-hour basis whether or not all group members have tagged in.
When responding, please list the Pokemon your character is bringing with them.
While the final portion of this event will go up on Sunday, October 4th, please also feel free to continue tagging this portion of the log as these threads will almost certainly not be finished yet.))

Raine has Sawsbuck
She held herself together, taking it all in and scanning the area for anything out of the ordinary. Anything moving that wasn't on fire. Before she could respond to Rei's observation, that sudden onslaught of blasts around them puts any thought of that right out-- she reacts instinctively, using reflect for defense.]

With a hiss, Sarek and Deimos both throw up a Light Screen around the whole group...and Ravi stares intently, getting ready to attack with his Future Sight...

[Just the enemy needs to reveal themselves, Maka can't decide what to do until she actually sees who's responsible.]

[A woman wearing black robes emblazoned with orange flame patterning emerges, holding a sword loosely in one hand]
This isn't your fight, children. Run along, your turn will come soon enough.
[Standing behind her are two Pokemon who are looking quite menacing indeed.

You attacked us. You made it our fight.
[And as calm as you please, she snaps off a Flamethrower at the obviously steely Pokemon. she has no interest in playing games with you, whatever you are.
And just as quickly, the Xatu's Future Sight from the previous round should connect with the woman. And he'll follow it up with an Air Slash aimed right for the other strange Pokemon. The...bug? Moth? Thing?]

... Though that's Rei responding immediately with an attack after the strange woman spoke her piece. Something that Raine internally made a face at -- was that really the way to go about this? Still. If fighting was to be imminent, it wouldn't leave them a lot of time.
With that in mind, she directs a brilliant flash of light towards the attacking Trio in an attempt to hinder further retaliation.]
Ami has Cyndaquil, Luxray, Chansey, Dragonair, Noctowl
She used Bubblebeam to put out any of the remaining fire. She put a hand on Rei's shoulder. Knowing that her lover wouldn't stand for being attacked.]
Rei... [She wanted them to hold back just a bit.]
Nightengale, heal any injured pokemon. [The Chansey nodded, running about to see if anyone needed her help.]
There is no need to attack us. [She insisted to the hooded figure, but everything made her uncomfortable about this person.]

Bisharp is Steel/Dark with the Defiant ability and has the following attacks available:

The Enlightened herself is Fire/Steel/Dark type, she seems to have a focus on hard offensive abilities but doesn't employ any standard Pokemon attacks. They do not appear to have any Pokeballs or Warp Band, the Pokemon available to them are all they have.]
You may have abandoned the old ways, but your presence is still anathema to our cause. We will tear down the throne of man and make this world anew!
[Volcarona's body is engulfed in flame as it charges through the Flamethrower to block Rei's attack and strike back at her with a Fiery Dance. Bisharp sweeps into Ami, taking the Bubblebeam and attacking her with a Night Slash. The flash's power, however, does stagger them, so in both cases the aim is a bit off, if only slightly.
The woman, on the other hand, shields her eyes and vanishes, coming up behind Raine and striking at her with her sword, which springs to life and burns with brilliant flame. Her aim does not appear to be impeded.]

She's angry now, her evolution and aggressive instincts kicking in. It hasn't come out much lately, but there were times when these things happened. And they were bad...
The Bisharp can look forward to a Blaze Kick from Rei as she surges forward, shrouding her whole body in fire and ramming her knee into the thing's face.
Xatu, on the other hand diverts it's attention to a more suitable target, zipping up into the air and firing off another Air Slash at the Volcarona.]

As the woman's sword grazes Raine, she cries out in surprise, stumbling at the hit. The Sawsbuck is quick to react, lowering its head and charging at the woman with it's Megahorn attack in an attempt to stop her from doing any further damage to his bond partner.]

Sawsbuck's Megahorn manages to keep Raine safe, but she gives a vicious grin as flames burst forth from her hand and she launches a blast of fire point-blank at the Pokemon]

ARCHIMEDES Inferno!! [Ami screamed out and the little cyndaquil was quick to send out the attack towards Bisharp, screeching as the other pokemon tried to attack Ami. Ami couldn't use ice against the Bisharp, but she did build a massive wall to try and protect herself from the blow as much as possible.]
You don't have to do this! But I will not let you hurt these people!
The Bisharp and Volcarona are both level 70! Volcarona is a fire/bug type. Direct all water, flying, and rock moves at it! The Bisharp is steel/dark type! Fire, bug, ground, steel, fairy, and fighting will work best. Do not use any poison moves!
The Enlightened is a Fire/Steel/Dark, hit her with water and fighting type moves as often as you can!
Minerva! Use Air Slash against the Volcarona! [The Noctowl circled once and dove down towards Volcarona.]

[The Sawsbuck takes the brunt of that flame attack, particularly painful due to it's typing,though it allows Raine a moment to get her bearings enough to aim a heal pulse toward him to try and mitigate the damage.
As for fighting moves... once it's had a chance to recover, the deer Pokemon turns and aims a double kick toward the Enlightened.]

[Rei nods sharply at Ami's instructions, and follows up the attack on the Bisharp with a Fire Blast, fully intending to take it out of the fight now.
And with a tap on her warp band, she swaps out the Xatu for a different Pokemon. Hellenes, the Gyarados, appears with a bellow, it's Intimidate passively lowering the enemies' attack. And with that done, it spits a Hydropump at the Enlightened!]

So that's how it's going to be then. Vulcan. Take Hades and go.
[She brings her sword to bear again and it flashes with immense flame]

[The Volcarona sweeps by the Bisharp, picking it up and running as the Bisharp wails in anguish as it is taken from its bondmate. The woman, however, turns and charges, cutting the sky with sizzling strikes that send waves of flame over the entire party]

You are the one who has decided to use pokemon to attack people! We cannot abide by these actions!
[Ami held her hands high above her head, hoping to at least lessen the damage of the flames as she used Water Pulse against the flames.]
MINERVA! Stop the Volcarona! [The Noctowl circled again, hot on the tail of the Volcarona and prepared to use Sky Attack on both pokemon.]

[She says that, but in actuality the pain of the Pokemon wrenches at her heart and soul--they clearly have a very deep affection towards each other even if they're harming regular people. Is this a test from the gods itself? What's driven this woman to even declare such things?
Never mind. Maka won't bring it up, she'll just direct her Slowbro to use Water Pulse to aid Ami's against the fire.]

[The girl's sorry to say, but she's at a severe disadvantage against attacking the woman at all. The Golurk nods in understanding and gears up a Hammer Arm blow to slow the woman down.]

Their defense-strengthening barriers still seemed to be stable for the moment, so what Raine decides to do is to chant up a quick safeguard against any of the flames that may potentially make it past the water attacks, at least to prevent then all from getting burned because of it.
This was maddening. This was... exhausting.]
So -- you're going to be a martyr so you don't have to live with your failure? What is even driving all of this?

[The Psychic types with her bunch up around Rei, and the Xatu focuses his too-wide eyes on the woman, using a Guard Swap to trade his frail defenses for her own. May as well take charge.]
Stand down and talk. You can call back your friends, too. We don't want to fight, so please don't push this farther than it has to go.
