The Situation in Glacier

The rescuers have been allowed a night's rest following their arrival on the outskirts of Glacier. Though there is ample evidence of their enemy's presence in the form of burning buildings and ruined settlements, the creature itself appears to have wandered off briefly to wreak havoc in a different corner of the frozen tundra. Or perhaps it was taking a brief siesta following so much exertion - murder and destruction was tiring work. Whatever the case, it seems to be an opportune time to descend into the city and assist those remaining there.

If they are brave, they might even try to take back the city itself. But the primary goal, of course, is to save as many people as possible before the great dragon returned.

The few people of Glacier who had guided them this far point out the less-traveled paths by which it may be possible to enter the city unnoticed. It is determined that they will fan out in groups, both in search of survivors and in search of the companions of the dragon who had so effectively laid waste to the city. Perhaps they might still gain the upper hand.

((You may respond to your threads now! Not all the groups will have immediate mod starters going up, so feel free to initiate threading; a mod will step in as soon as possible. As usual, we will be tagging on a 24-hour basis whether or not all group members have tagged in.

[Rise's in the center of the group with her extra senses on alert all around for any other people in the area, Himiko standing protectively next to her and - just in case - Thunder Wave baton in hand.]

If there's anyone out here, hopefully I'll sense them before we see them...

[Terrified screams can be heard in the distance as sunlight grows incredibly harsh. Two Pokemon sweep in and drench the area in flames. The team spots several sturdy stone homes burst into flame, the heat strong enough to ignite even the stronger building material as more screams come from within]

[Right's heart freezes with horrified shock for a brief moment, eyes growing wide upon hearing those screams in trapped houses. But just for a brief moment. Almost instinctively, he starts running towards those houses, shouting orders to his Pokemon over his shoulder.]

Softy! Break down the doors so that everyone can get out! Everyone else - help me lure off those guys!

[Soft Steel runs alongside his Trainer, with the others not far behind. As soon as he's within range, the Lucario fires off a Force Palm towards the door of the first house that has living auras - and screaming - within.]

[so much for sneaking in quietly. Also Michiru has Gardevoir and Vaporeon out.]

Martelé, please. [the Vaporeon nods importantly and sets up a Rain Dance before running off towards the houses.] Waltz. [Gardevoir shoots her Trainer a look, but then follows after the Vaporeon.

And Michiru herself is turning her attention towards the interesting looking Charizards.]

[ ...Now that's funny. If it weren't for the extra horn, Haruka could have sworn those Pokémon were...

But that's something they'll have to figure out as they go. Haruka puts her back to Michiru, who is better-equipped to handle that particular enemy. ] I'll find the Trainers.

[ Off she runs, Sky the Beartic at her side: the Ice-type is far less ungainly in this climate than in Union. She's keeping Michiru in her line of sight, though: they'll approach this problem together, but from different angles. ]

[Lenna steps up alongside Michiru, wielding her own Water type powers for what seems like the first time in a long time. Waving her hands around one another in a circle, she materializes an orb of water before gesturing toward one of the attacking Pokemon. From the orb's center, a torrent of water comes gushing out - a Hydro Pump.]

Alexander! It's your turn!

[Her Dragonite flies up into the sky to engage the other enemy, wings beating behind it as it barrels straight toward it at breakneck speeds. Arms held out wide, it aims directly for center of mass in a fierce Dragon Rush, attempting to knock its target off balance to cause a momentary opening.]

(ooc: 20% chance to flinch on Dragon Rush)

[Whoa those were fast. Despite herself, Rise doesn't even manage a warning, instead gasping in shock as the two fully-evolved Fire-types swoop down.]

[Not panicking, however, she focuses on warping in her Swanna, Hagoromo.]

Himiko, find anyone who's stuck inside the buildings and Teleport them out - keep doing that until everyone's out. Be careful. Hagoromo, knock one of those guys down with a Hurricane!

[Her Pokémon bob their heads and follow her instructions, Himiko on rescue duty, using her emotion-sensing powers and teleportation in tandem to grab survivors stuck in the burning houses, and Hagoromo using her wings to whip a small section of Martelé's brewing rainstorm into a powerful and incredibly accurate strike against one of the Charizards.]

As the door shatters from the Force Palm, several haggard, ash-covered people come fleeing out, their eyes wild and full of terror. Himiko's teleportation is able to rescue a few young children, one of whom appears to have been recently crushed by burning beams - he's sobbing and has deep wounds, likely broken ribs and moderate-to-severe burns across his chest.

The air sizzles with steam as rain attempts to fall, but the pair of Pokemon roar and the intense sunlight, while dampened, does not fade.

As Haruka moves, she spots two cloaked figures with flame-patterned black robes holding swords and standing off to the side. They are both wearing bracelets that appear to be resonating with a strange power, clearly bearing the mark of Mega Evolution. Spotting her, one of them points at her and she feels herself under intense psychic assault under the calm, unwavering gaze of a strange, elegant Pokemon.

The combined ferocity of the Hydro Pump, even weakened by the sunlight, as well as the Dragon Rush and Hurricane catch the strange Charizards off guard, knocking them both from the air. They recover quickly, however, and take flight in different directions, strafing the party with Flamethrower attacks.

[As Himiko teleports back out, she's briefly taken aback by the pain coming from the child, and uses Heal Pulse on him as a form of first aid.]

[Rise ducks and covers while Hagoromo uses Aqua Ring to mitigate some of the damage from the intense assault.]

If anyone's got a big Ice move, now's the time to use it!

[ So it's not just the aerial team. Haruka grunts, falters, and focuses through the pain on summoning one more Pokémon. ] World - Shaking!

[ The Rhyperior bursts onto the scene with a roar, scooping up Haruka and depositing her on his back as dead weight before charging at the humans. His horn is twirling, ready to Drill Run any Pokémon that might get in his way.

Sky sends a Brine at the strange Pokémon in the hopes of freeing her Trainer - or offering herself as an alternate target. A lady doesn't just sit by when her Trainer is suffering! ] Beaaaarrrrrr!!

[Right and his Pokemon do their best to avoid as much of the Flamethrower attacks as they can, but there's still some burns all around. Naturally, the one with the least damage is Momotaros, thanks to his Thick Fat. He's now swearing a string of curses up at the Mega-Evolved Pokemon flying around. If only they came in close enough for his Rollout, damnit!...]

--That's it! [Right's eyes light up as an Image forms in his head.] Miss Chansey - think you can fling Momotaros up there?

Chan-Chansey~! [Of course she can! It'll be easy as pie since he's still tiny. Miss Chansey saluted, and picks up the Tepig, who immediately rolls up into a ball.]

Ready...GO!

[At that signal, Miss Chansey Flings the Tepig up towards the nearest Mega-Charizard, with said Tepig doing a Rollout towards it.]

[dodging fire attacks isn't really her idea of fun, but there we go. Hitting the ground hard to get out of the way, Michiru then uses Psychic on the nearest Charizard.

And then she's summoning a Nidoqueen and a Rapidash. She hoists herself into the Rapidash's saddle, banking on that Flash Fire to keep off the flames. Nidoqueen, on the other hand, sends an Earth Power towards the Delphox ]

Careful now.

[Both of Lenna's types are resistant to Fire, so she's doing mostly fine even in the face of a double Flamethrower assault. And her Dragonite has the benefit of its Multiscale ability, protecting it against the first hit and ensuring it took a similarly small amount of damage.

Knowing that Alexander's defense will continue to hold as long as his health is full, Lenna casts an Aqua Ring around him to heal the damage from the earlier assault. Soon he'll be at full health again, and ready to absorb another barrage. In the meantime, he rushes toward the Charizard Michiru didn't attack, trying for a Dragon Tail attack in an attempt to knock it out of the fight.]

[The boys breathing comes easier with the Heal Pulse, and his sobbing starts to subside as several of the other people gather around him, looks of gratitude clear on their worn faces.

The Delphox howls in pain as the Brine and Earth Power strike it, the Psychic attack abating. It appears to be quite badly damaged, as it unleashes a Hypnosis attack to put the charging Rhyperion to sleep.

The Tepig slams into the Mega Charizard, striking it hard with the added Psychic attack for extra damage. The Charizard shrieks in pain and counters with a Heat Wave at the airborne Tepig.

The Dragon Tail strikes at the second Charizard, who latches on with its claws and returns with a Flamethrower

The Enlightened on the ground, however, aims an Ice Beam at Lenna's Dragonite, using the Charizard to keep it there and packing it with a power well beyond that of any Union Enlightened]

[ Sky's friend Stradivarius the Nidoqueen is here! And helping her fight the Pokémon that hurt Trainer! A lady is always quick to collaborate and work harmoniously with others, so she hurries over to Stradivarius and offers a paw. Her previous attack appeared most successful, so she's going to attempt it again. Please stay alongside her, as she knows her friend doesn't enjoy getting wet. ] Bear!

[ If Stradivarius seems willing, she'll run at the Delphox. Time to see whether the second Brine is as unpleasant as the first!

Haruka feels her head clearing just as World Shaking falls to his knees, yawning. She can't afford to spend any time on waking him - not with the Enlightened unleashing that kind of power - so she recalls him and draws her sword, picking back up on her own two feet. ] Don't forget the ground troops!

[ She swings the sword to unleash arcs of Fairy-type energy at the other human. He's at least part Ice, so her drawing his attention is stupid. But it only has to last for a little bit... ]

Queen. [Nidoqueen clasps paws with Beartic and nods, following up with another Earth Power.

Michiru and Rapidash turn away from the Charizards, looping around to come at the Enlightened from behind. She gathers up a Psychic blast, only to unleash it on the same target Haruka chose.]

Alexander!

[The Dragonite definitely takes a wallop, being doubly weak to Ice type attacks. In fact, the only reason it wasn't knocked out entirely is because of its Multiscale ability and the fact that Lenna had healed it before. But Lenna isn't about to let her friend go out like that, and barrels headlong toward the Charizard X that has it pinned. Time to let this thing feel the Outrage of someone who's just narrowly avoided losing her first Pokemon friend.]

Let him go!

[If she manages to body check it out of the way, her first action immediately following will be to recall Alexander so he doesn't die for real.]

Himiko, let's go help Haruka! I'll get Toyo out here soon. Hagoromo, you know what to do!

[Himiko double-times it to the aid of Haruka while Rise follows, trying to get an Analysis of the Enlightened and what he or she is capable of. Hagoromo, meanwhile, continues to smack around the Charizard-oids with another Hurricane.]

[While The Momotaros' Thick Fat still helps to lessen the damage, it doesn't stop him from falling into a snowbank at top speed. His landing sight is clearly marked by a deep, steaming, Tepig-sized hole in one of the larger snow drifts.]

I trust you guys to handle them! [Right shouts at Haruka over his shoulder. And it's true - the others are stronger than him, after all, so he's sure that they can handle the human half of the attacking group.

He unleashes a Swift at the Charizard that his Tepig had hit earlier, then looks over to his Chansey.] Miss Chansey, give Momotaros one of your eggs!

Ch-Chan?! Sey-sey! Chansey!! [O-One of her eggs?! Ohmigoodness! Miss Chansey can't just let some weirdo eat of her precious Softboiled eggs! They're her eggs!]

Do it!

[...yet even the Chansey can't ignore that tone of voice. She (blindly, since she can't bear to see the 'carnage') she tosses a Softboiled egg at the Tepig. Thankfully, the fiery tiny pig did catch the egg and munches on it as quickly as he can, getting himself patched up.]

(ooc: Sorry for the delay!)

[Pamela has been staying back and has been encouraging Bramble, her Phantump, to do the same. They're both at a disadvantage against Fire types. Instead, she sends Mimosa her Golurk forward.]

Mimosa, use Earthquake!

[The timid Golurk unleashes the attack toward one of the Charizards.]

[The onslaught of attacks damages the Pokemon greatly, knocking the Delphox out entirely. The Enlightened, however, manages to crush the fairy slash from Haruka with his bare hands]

Damn it! Pyre, grab Summer! Fall back for now!

[One of the Charizards regains its bearing and swoops down, grabbing the downed Delphox as the other swoops down for the Enlightened to mount and they begin to flee as quickly as they can]

[Lenna's rage lasts a good ten or so seconds more after the enemies begin to retreat, her breath hot and labored as it condenses in the air around them. And finally, with a sigh, she manages to come down from the attack.]

Is... is everyone all right?

[She immediately rushes to the side of her heavily injured Dragonite friend, using another Aqua Ring to begin to knit his wounds. Once she's satisfied that he'll be okay, she sends him back with the Warp Band.]

Alexander... thank you.

Hagoromo, try to follow them, but don't engage. See if you can find out where they're going.

[At the same time her swan Pokémon flies off, Rise warps in Toyo to help with any injuries with Heal Bell and Softboiled.]

[Thankfully she'd worn her Calderan Vulcanweave vest under her coat mostly for layering and for minimizing physical damage. Who knew she'd have to use it for protection against flame damage in Glacier? As is, she's had to stop, drop and roll to put out her coat.

She surveys her team. They're not too badly off, either.]

We're okay here. How about everyone else?

[She's curious as to where they're going, but not particularly eager for another battle so soon after this one.]

[Momotaros squealed in protest upon seeing Rise's Swanna flying off. Take him with you~! He can still fight! Let him at 'em!] Piiiiig! Pig-pig!

Yeah, let's go help track them down! [But Right and his Tepig barely got more than a few steps before being grabbed from behind by their Lucario friend.] Softy! What the--?

Lucari-rio! [Idiots! They're even far stronger than our group's leading pair! Think for once, Right! Soft Steel growls at the both of them, especially his Trainer.]
