Pokémingle 2: The Pokémingling

It's another lovely summer day! It's later in summer now and as the excitement from the previous weeks die down, another sign goes up in the local park...

Pokémingle!! Back by popular demand!

It's an open event for Pokémon of any kind! Play games, walk together, and relax in the sun! Trainers, let your Pokémon take the day off! Let's make Pokéfriends!! (^_^)

((Pokémingle returns! While the base premise is that it's a relaxing day at a park, feel free to respond with other top-level comments with what else your Pokémon might be doing around Union. No real rules about top-level threads, so if you want to include all of your Pokémon in one thread or do separate ones for a few Pokémon, go ahead. (Try not to make top-levels for 15 different Pokémon though if possible.) No trainers allowed!! Or at least, minimal trainer interference!

[ He'll be glad to oblige, apparently. Come on. It's his own silk! Who knew it would stick to him this well... Natto grabs and pulls. ] Lea va...

[ Spritzee puffs out a sigh. No one can do anything without her, can they?? Very well, she shall assist. ] Zee.

[ Now both of them are tugging on the leaf. Spritzee is flapping with all her might, but she's a little bird, and it's stuck fast...

Before she knows it, she's ended up dragging Leavanny a few steps. Towards Togepi. ] Lea!

Prii! [now pink fluffy bird is playing too! She kicks her feet happily, forgetting about her toy and. Wow. How much silk did you put on the Rhyhorn plush again? 'Cause it's probably sticking onto somemon.]

[ Well, he did use a very thin thread to fix that plushie up! But later applications were a bit more liberal. Whoopsie.

Spritzee pulls. The leaf rips. Spritzee goes somersaulting through the air over Togepi's head. ~~This makes twice in one day.~~ ] ZeeeEeeeEeeeEe...

[ Natto's hands fly to his mouth. Oh goodness! Are you okay?? Is baby oka--

---Baby. Try to walk away from the toy, please. ] Leavanny.

[baby tracks Spritzee's progress through the air. Whoaaaa. Is there something going on over there? Maybe she can help!

...Why is it so difficult to move?]

[ Spritzee finally manages to right herself, as Beartic stands up, dusts herself off, and begins lumbering away. She doesn't know ANY of you AT ALL. She's going to go find a tree to hide behind, gosh!!!

...yeah, good luck with that, Sky.

Natto, meanwhile, is looking down at baby with growing terror. He silked baby. Granted, it wasn't on purpose, but he silked baby. Nothing bad is allowed to happen to baby. The leaf pales in comparison to this, and given that he can't stand the idea of wearing ripped clothing period, let alone ripped clothing he didn't carefully place in just the right spot, that's saying something!

He kneels down. Let's play a game, Togepi. Can you stand reaaaaaallly still while he takes a look at your "friend"? ] Vanny leavan?

[nooo, she wants to see where pink birdie went off to! Baby takes a step and...her other foot is stuck for some reason and then she's toppling over!

There's a moment of silence as she inhales and. Nope. That's it. She's crying her little egg heart out even though she's not visibly hurt.]

[ Everyone freezes. And then Beartic starts sneaking much faster, Spritzee jumps back over to baby's side, and Natto feels a clenching in his chest usually reserved for being in the presence of lots of large, sharp, shiny teeth. What should he do?? What should he do?? ] Vaaaa...

[ Hastily pulling a bunch of thread from his mouth, he holds it up in front of baby and starts making cat's cradles. Look! He made a bridge! Now he's making a tower! Now he's got cat whiskers!! Isn't this fun???

Spritzee sighs. You're not addressing the problem, Natto. ] Spri.

[there's a pause and blessed silence for almost three seconds, but yeah. No. She's just drawing breath so she can continue crying.]

[ Now Natto is dismayed in addition to terrified; every shadow seems Michiru-shaped to him, ready to drown him in righteous vengeance for daring to make such a sweet innocent thing as this precious baby cry. He has to fix this! His well-being depends on it.

Discarding the thread, he bends over Togepi and tries to pick her up, plush and all. There, there. What if he rocks you? And tries to sing a lullaby? He's not the Parenting Pokémon for nothing! Something has to work! ] L-lea leava leav leav leava vanny leav...

[ Spritzee stays very silent to watch. This had better work, Natto. ]

[oh. The crying slowly gets quieter, until Natto merely has a hiccuping baby in his hands.

Whew. Good job, Natto. She's not quite smiling yet, but she's hugging her plushie pretty tightly. Maybe a little too tightly...]

[ Uh...oh. Natto starts patting Togepi's back reassuringly. Sleepy baby, sleepy baby! Relax so they can trim you free. ] Leav leav vanny leav vanny leav leav...

[ Spritzee begins surreptitiously approaching, beak at the ready. You're hopeless. Once the little one is calm enough, she'll help trim this mess. ]

[the song is pretty soothing. There's a teeny yawn. She almost always gets a song before naptime and. Hm. This time, it's kinda different but. Yaaawn.

Though it probably doesn't help that she's nuzzling into her plushie.]

[ No, that's a problem. Spritzee will gently, gently, try to start snipping away at the silk adhering Togepi to her plushie, nudging ever so slightly with her little fluffy pink body. Natto continues to sing, hoping to keep the spell in place this time.

Easy, there. Easy.... ] Pri...

[baby shifts a bit, but doesn't seem to be waking up yet.]

[ Natto pats Togepi's back. Good baby. Good baby. Good....

....Erk.

Spritzee, when you're done with that, could he have a little assistance please? Some of the silk smeared when it stuck to Togepi and he is now in a

predicament. ] ......Le.

[ Spritzee snips through one sticky portion, smacks her tongue against the inside of her beak, and gives Leavanny a look so withering his leaf almost crinkles. Seriously?

But think of it this way, Togepi. Right now you'll always have a friend by your side! ]

[wow, Natto. Nothing is going right for you, huh? In fact, the level of ambient noise is rising dramatically and...baby's eyes open again. And she looks cranky. Uh...]

[ Natto gulps, then grins. Hurry up, Spritzee.....

Hi, baby! He jiggles her up and down, which earns a squawk from Spritzee. Don't listen to the cranky bird. Look how happy he is to see you! Do you remember the songs your mommy plays on violin?

He doesn't either, but he's wondering whether he'll have to try. For now, he's making funny faces and hoping that suffices. Who's a distracted baby? You are, right?! You are...

It is at this point Spritzee has an Idea. She flies back down to the ground, waiting to see whether it'll be necessary. ] Sprii.

Pri? [mommy? Did you mention mommy? Where's mommy?

Aaaaand she's trying to twist around, looking for mom.] Toge, toge priiii...

[you've got about five seconds, Natto.]

[ Spritzee moves while Natto's at a loss for words. Sucking up her sense of cleanliness and consideration for others, she gathers as many petals and leaves as she can between her wings, hops up -

And showers baby with them. Surprise! You're a lucky baby! They love you very much!!! ] Spritzee!!!

[...whoa!! Flying colorful things everywhere! And pink birdie sounds excited too!!] Prii!!

[good thing her attention span is pretty short]

[ Spritzee swoops down to repeat the activity. Natto, catching on, talks to Togepi. This is a fun game. The stiller you can stay, the more petals fly up in the air! Can you stay verrrry still?

He demonstrates by freezing in place. There's a nagging feeling in the back of his mind that this will all be too cerebral for baby, but games are fun, right? Let's play the freezing game. ] Vanny leavanny leav leav.

[eh? Pat, pat, pat. Why aren't you movi - there's more stuff falling from the sky! Life is too exciting to stay particularly still, but at least she's only waving her little arms.]

[ Natto will take this chance! Slowly he begins trying to wiggle his arm free of the silk; this isn't as thick as if it'd been still globbed together, so he hopes he can extract himself. If he's verrrrry careful it should only....

Well. It should only. Tickle the baby.

Spritzee continues to serve as a confetti fountain. Natto owes her her own veritable mountain of pink and green flowers now. ] Spritzee zeeeeeeee~~

[Togepi wiggles, giggling at both the tickling and at Spritzee's efforts. She'll help too, and throw some of the accumulated leaves into the air! (And maybe into Natto's face, depending on how they're positioned.)] Toge!

[ Eek, that makes him sneeze. ] Leava!

[ There go those leaves again. This is the game that keeps on giving.

And with a triumphant popping sound, his arm is free! Now to quickly adjust how he's holding baby so he doesn't end up with a scrambled egg. ]
